Alright so a bit of back story: I've been smoking for five years now, and it's become a huge part of my life. I love it. A week ago, for whatever reason, I decided to quit. On Saturday I relapsed having a drink with friends, and this afternoon I relapsed after a very stressful day at work.

ANYWAY. Whilst at my local tobacconist, I was informed that they're now selling e-cigs. Quite surprising to me, considering I thought they weren't allowed to be sold here in good old Canada. I was told they can be sold as long as they didn't sell nicotine cartridges. So I decide that I might as well buy one to solve the hand to mouth problem and the "blowing smoke is pretty awesome" thing. A significant sum of money later and I had something from a company called Smoke NV Inc.. I tried it, it was pretty okay, and then I did a search and found out they're pretty trash.

Now, I've spent about two hours searching this site and want to make sure I have everything right:

I want something as close to a normal cigarette as possible. Am I correct in assuming that this (http://www.happyvaper.com/Happy_306A_Super_Mini_p/306a-kit.htm) is the closest thing to a normal cigarette as possible?

Secondly, I want something that tastes as close to my wonderful DuMauriers as possible, and provides nicotine. I've found a few things that proclaim to be like DuMaurier (or at least as close to normal tobacco as possible) (http://www.vapables.com/?controller=product&product_id=146]) and (http://www.juicyclear.com/items.php?vapetype=1), but how do I know if they have nicotine in them? In the second link I see an indication of strength, but in the first I see nothing that indicates nicotine level.

And finally, just to make sure I have everything straight in my head: I purchase the starter kit, purchase the juice separately, and refill the cartridges as need be when I run out of juice?

Thanks

The link you provided for Vapables is for Belmont juice and in the title say's 30ml-18mg. 18mg is the strength of nicotine. Same for Juicy clear except click on the arrow and it will show you the strength's also. As for the ecig you found from Happyvapor could not tell you never used it. I can tell you Happyvapor is a good vendor. As well as Vapables and Juicy clear have used all three.
Hope this helps, I am sure someone will provide more info.

The Belmont in the first link is 18mg, as mentioned in the title. (mg is the strength/nicotine level)

Yes, you want to refill the cartridges with the juice you purchase separately. As far as the mini-cig goes, I've never tried the 306 personally, but I definitely recommend the M601 over the 510 any day. (Not sure how much research you've done on models?)

First I would like to say welcome to ECF. Since you are in BC you could check out Nicfitnation and you can get it faster and get E-cig and liquid with nicotine in it. There is also electro vapors in Alberta and some others as I just cant think of at the moment. Happy Vaper is a great company with great customer service but it would take longer then that to get to you and you would have to get the liquid from somewhere else and pay for shipping twice. No matter which one you decide to buy from I am sure you will be all right as they are all great suppliers.
As for that model of e-cigarette I can't comment on as I have never used it the only info on that I can give is the with the e-cigs that are same in size as real cigarettes always left me disappointed from the battery going dead every hour or 2 although I probably used them more then most people as I was a heavy smoker. For that reason I alway recommend the Ego models. I just saw this tonight but I think it is very good info to consider. I hope it helps you in some way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zm7DSTiOuk

+1 I've dealt with all 3 vendors and they will all give you stellar service. If you choose to go with Electro Vapers or NFN you can get all your supplies in one order.

My first pv was a 306 model like that. It will do ok. Battery life is just about the worst you can get out of any e cig however. The 306 atty is a good one. I know you think it has to be like a real cig right now... but I found that it didn't matter after a week. I was already looking for a new one. Battery life is a huge part of these things. Out at the bar I would need 4 batteries to come close to lasting a night out. (I only had 2) I recommend skipping the super mini and getting an ego or some such large battery device. But that one will work ok performance wise. You will have to drop the amount you have in the starter kit getting extra batteries and attys.

An ego has 6 times the battery life than the super mini and I would still have to switch batteries once in a day. Imagine how many you will go through. I only vape 2ml a day, and only smoked 10 cigs a day.

Those NV E-Cigs are not that bad actually. They are KR808-1D Batteries. Automatic, and they come with KR808 Cartomizers. A shop here in Campbell River is also selling them. The good thing about them is that the batteries last longer than the 510's (300maH vs 190maH). The bad thing is that there is only 1 in the kit and they are automatic which has a moving part that can fail.

I still recommend a kit with at least 2 batteries or asking the shop for an additional battery. The store here was able to buy nic juice and empty KR808 Catomizers for filling with the good juice, maybe your shop can too. Shipping from Electro-Vapors and Nicfitnation was both 3 days to the island.

Good luck and welcome. The folks here are very good support.

Just over 3 weeks in myself.

I would order the eGo-T system with a pack of 510 CE2 cartomizers, a couple of bridgeless 510 atomizers, a drip tip and a few different juices.

You'll cover most of the vaping bases and figure out which you'll like best.

I rate my eGo-T the best of the bunch with great flavour, TH, and vapour production. Just remember to drag on it slowly. Mine was a little finicky after day 6, pushed the wick down slightly, and a few primer puffs and it's great again!

The CE2 cartos are great too. Much faster "analog" type draw with great flavour and vapour production, with a slightly diminished TH over the tank. Gotta fill it up with a syringe though. Don't wanna do that in public!

I also like dripping. Has the most flavour with decent TH and vapour production. A little messy and not convenient on the road.

Unless some new fangled system comes out that blows all these methods away, I'm hoping I'm set on my hardware.

As for juice, I mix 70% Canadian Full Flavour from Juicy Clear (70/30 PG/VG) with 30% Play-yours from Electro Vapors (100% PG Players clone) It's as close to an analog as I wanna get, but still some flavour that I really enjoy.

I have messesd around with many different juice flavours and combos (12+ 3/4 full bottles on my desk of everything from blueberry to choco-mint to RY4 to waffle) but I really enjoy the analog type experience of my "players-full flavour" mix.

It's up to you buddy, be prepared for a learning curve and some frustrating moments, but I am happy to say I am an ex-smoker, current vaper!

Congratulations on making one of the best choices of your life: to quit smoking & start vaping!

OK, now you sound exactly the way I did when I made the switch. I wanted an e-cig that would be simple to use - look just like a cigarette - and (I thought) juices that would taste just like a cigarette. Your vaping desires & needs will change, mature & grow over the course of time...but since we're at the beginning of this journey, let's get you something that will satisfy your present needs.

I've never had the 306 Super Mini, so I can't speak to it specifically...but from what I gather it's basically a bit shorter than the 510. Think like the difference in length between a regular & a king size cig.

I personally went with two of the automatic 510 batteries (white w/red LED), and the Boge 510 cartomizers, from Jack at Happy Vaper. Here's a photo of my first 510 with one of the 510 cartomizers next to it:

6cule.jpg

- $20 per battery
- $10 for five of the cartomizers
- $6.49 for the USB charger

Happy Vaper links below:

Happy Vaper - Joye 510 Battery - Black, Silver, White, Copper
Happy Vaper - Blank (empty) 510 Cartomizers
Happy Vaper - Joye 510 USB Battery Charger

Super affordable, & a quality product. You don't need a starter kit; by just getting what you need (batts, cartomizers, charger) you'll get a better price. 510 or eGo starter kits are just fancier packaging & a few doo-dads (like a velvet carrying bag, or '5 free cartridges' lol) that you don't really need.

Battery life is only 2 hours or so on the 510's, but they take only an hour to recharge. So having two should mean you always have one to vape with while the other's recharging. More experienced vapers will shake their heads at this short battery life; but that's a necessary tradeoff when you want a smaller battery that resembles an analog. Some people don't care what their e-cig looks like: they want long-lasting battery life. Other people aren't bothered by the shorter time, and consider the aesthetic appeal a worthy tradeoff. Only you can decide what matters most to you re: this.

In my experience, the automatic 510 is the perfect starter e-cig for many newbies (at least, for those who want something that looks & feels a lot like an analog). The 510 definitely isn't going to be your e-cig of choice for life, lol...but for making the transition from smoking to vaping, it's excellent. It feels just like an analog, looks like one, and vapes surprisingly well...all things considered.

Some folks don't like the automatics because unlike manual batteries (which are activated by a button, instead of inhalation)...the automatics aren't sealed. Which means juice could potentially leak into the battery & kill it. That said, I vaped with my auto 510s (using 510 cartomizers) for more than 3 months straight and juice never got into any of them. They're pretty much dead from those first few months of relatively heavy vaping, lol...but they still work.

The general rule of thumb is:

- Separate atomizers are for manual batteries only
- Cartomizers are for manual or automatic batteries

I recommend & prefer cartomizers (especially for use with a 510 or eGo) because they're more affordable, and they simplify things. Instead of a 3 piece unit (battery, atomizer, cartridge or drip tip)...your e-cig becomes a 2 piece unit (battery, cartomizer). They're easy to fill, easy to refill anywhere from 5 to 20 times...and if you're on a tight budget they can easily be boiled (to clean them out) & re-used (though this should be done only on a limited need-to basis, as cartomizers do have a limited lifespan; fresh cartomizers will always work best).

A cartomizer is basically an atomizer + cartridge all rolled into one. Another nice thing about them is that cartomizers don't have any of the nasty-tasting 'primer' fluid in them that separate atomizers do. Atomizers are basically more expensive, more fussy & (in my opinion) not as convenient. Anyway, I'm going on...so I'll send you a PM or two about 510 cartomizers.

Now as to wanting juices that will taste like du Maurier cigarettes when vaped...

...I had the exact same thought as you when I began vaping. First thing I realized though was that most 'tobacco' flavours do not taste anything like cigarette smoke. Rather, they taste like unlit tobacco. You know that smell from opening a fresh package of cigarettes? Just like that. Quite a different taste.

Secondly...now that you've quit smoking, it won't be long before the smell of smoke will viscerally disgust you. It is highly likely that you'll find you don't really want a juice that tastes like cigarette smoke, once you start vaping. I realize that's difficult to believe right now, but trust me. Your tastebuds will begin to return to life...and you'll realize you can get the same nicotine, and the same recreational pleasure from vaping that you got before from smoking...only now without that nasty taste. I honestly get far more pleasure now from vaping Cola or Pizza - or even Blueberry Fritter Donut
kvaS2.gif
- than I ever got from smoking back when. Same throat hit, same nicotine rush...but delicious flavour. It was never the flavour of cigarette smoke we were addicted to...but rather, the nicotine (coupled with the hand-to-mouth habit). Realizing that is very liberating.

In any case...I am going to recommend to you what I recommend to all newbie vapers: DIY.

When it comes to e-juice, you have a choice between premixed juices & DIY-ing your own. I've been DIY-ing all of mine since pretty much day one, and very happily! Not only will DIY save you a lot of money...but you'll end up with juices that taste better, produce more vapour, and are tweaked to your personal specifications. It's also so simple & easy to do that it's crazy: it's nothing more than counting drops & stirring/shaking. An online e-juice calculator will take all the guesswork out of how many drops of what to mix together.

I'll send you a PM or two re: DIY because I've been going on for too long in this post, lol.

---

As you'll quickly realize...there are a lot of opinions out here! Many models, many juices, different methods for vaping...lots to consider. You have some reading ahead, for sure. My advice is to take it easy...find what works for you...and remember there will always be time down the road for bigger & better devices (things like mods, etc). Vaping also does take a bit of getting used to, but before long it'll be old hat. We'll help.

And remember, you can always ask any questions you may have right here. This is a pretty friendly, helpful & active community. As Red Green says, we're all in this together!

So with that...welcome again, congratulations, happy vaping, & talk soon!
