Jordan85, the similarity of the vape to real cigs is dependent on the cart, voltage/resistance combo, and mostly the choice of ejuice. It is really subjective and depends what you smoked before and what satisfies you. Some people need tons of vapor and or throat hit, others just flavor, and others just the physical hand mouth routine. Your needs may change as you vape and make the transition. Keep it simple at first. Within 3 days you can receive another order and all of it is compatible.

I liked autos better at first and now they are just my emergency backups. I don't like taking air primer puffs, I'd rather hold a button and get a perfect hit. The Maxx Fusions are the first automatic to tempt me since their voltage is supposedly consistent and they fire up right away. Cool the V4L is selling them too.

I'd recommend a variety of nic level cartridges in some sort of tobacco flavor to get started and avoid nicotine cravings or overdosing on nic if you are a mad vapor. Also maybe chose a dessert, menthol, or fruit for variety. Pick something that sounds interesting or a sampler pack. Almost any flavor tastes better than cigarettes. You won't know what you like until you try it yourself. Flavor is so,so subjective and your taste buds will change.

One more thing on the white battery with brown cart thing. At first you think you want your e-cig to look like a cigarette and within a week you may find just the opposite. I'd rather look like I'm sucking on a pen when stealth vaping than anything even remotely cigarette looking. I'd never order the SmokeTip kit no matter how good they might be, just on the visual cigarette look. While everyone's different, lots of ex-smokers lean that way.

welp, we don't have internet right now, so I'm trying to search reviews from my phone, and I guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow to order (not too keen on entering my cc info over phone interwebz).

But I'm leaning towards the maxx fusion right now, given all the good feedback I'm seeing. An extra $20 one way or the other isn't a big deal if it's the difference between something I will stick with and something I don't like

I have a friend who has a smoketip kit, and I ordered that exact V4l kit that you posted. Notice that the kit you mentioned has a USB passthrough in it. I did not notice one in the smoketip kit. I might have missed it. If you do spend a lot of time at the computer, the passthrough is great. I can say that my friends cartos fit my unit, as we share aound a lot, so they are both the same. She is very happy with her smoketip and I am very happy with my V4L. I know I prefer the flavor of the juice I get from V4L over the juices she has gotten for hers, but I don't know if she got her cartos from smoketip or not. Possibly I am not being too useful as far as smoketip goes, but I do love my V4L. I ordered on a friday afternoon, and received it on tuesday. It would have arrived on Monday, as according to the tracking it was sitting in my local post office on sunday night, but that monday happened to be a holiday, so barring breaking into the Post office to get my package, I had to wait til Tuesday!

Not all KR808D's are the same but they do have interchangeable parts

I also settled on this model early. I ordered from V2cigs first & then went to V4L. I haven't used any of the other models but here's what I can say about the two different "brands" I have & how they compare. Some of these things may be important enough to steer you to one model over another.. or not.

1. As for the standard size, the V2cigs model is a little bit thicker and a little bit wider than the V4L. I happen to prefer the thinner V4L. It's very close to the size of a 100's style analog cigarette but it is a tiny bit longer and definitely heavier (it takes some effort to hang it from your lips).

2. My standard size V2cigs batteries last about an hour or two before they need a recharge. My standard size V4L batteries last anywhere from 4 hrs to all day before they need a recharge. Clearly, I prefer the longer life & less recharging.

3. There is about a 5 second cutoff time on the V2cigs model (both auto & manual) vs. a 12 second cutoff on my V4L's (again, both auto & manual). This is probably the biggest reason I use the V4L batteries more often. Seems that my normal drag is about 8 seconds or so because I always have to hit twice on the V2cigs (a pain) whereas I rarely reach the cutoff with V4L, so it's just one smooth drag.

As far as cartomizers, I would not make a decision about a starter kit with any consideration for these because KR808 cartos from any vendor (either prefilled or blanks, which you can fill with your choice of juice from any of loads of different places) will fit KR808 batteries from any other vendor. That means if you narrow your choice of starter kit to Smoketip, for example, you can also choose to place your "starter" order of cartos from somewhere else, like V4L (which has the largest selection of prefilled cartos for a KR808) at the same time.

I definitely agree with the recommendation to start with a variety of cartos and/or juice, including different nicotine levels. You may find that the right one for you isn't what you thought it would be and it sucks to be stuck with a ton of prefilled cartos that end up not working for you (which happened to me).

Finally, this is a terrific place to learn what might be wrong and how to correct it if you encounter a problem. Don't give up if you don't hit the nail on the head the first time! It often takes a bit of experimenting at first to get it just right.

I second this as well. I was sure I wanted the analog cigarette look at first. It only took a couple of days before I completely changed my mind and now I steer as far away from the analog look as possible.

Note - most people recommend manual batteries. I do not know if Smoketip has manuals. You might want to at least try a manual battery from elsewhere if Smoketip doesn't have them and you get Smoketip. I also recommend using soft-cap cartomizers like Vapor4Life's (and soft-cap blanks) so they can be refilled as they were meant to be refilled, not by using tricks to force liquid in through other openings.

I recommend a kit with both an auto and a manual, if possible. You never know which one you'll like better until you use them both. I actually prefer the drag on the auto, as well as ease of use. Whether or not I need to take a primer puff seems to depend on the juice - some vaporize immediately and others seem to require a little more heat build up to get them going. I like my manuals too though, and they may last longer if you end up filling your own cartos because the manuals are sealed whereas the autos aren't, so from what I've heard, if you accidentally overfill a carto on an auto, it can leak into the battery & kill it.

I like the soft tip cartos but I have several hard tips too & they don't require anything special to refill them. The hard tips pop out just like the soft tips do (of course, mine aren't glued in as I've heard some can be).

Dunno about the SmokeTip or the other 808 brands but I have a VaporKing from V4L and I love this device. It has performed flawlessly for me and the customer service has been exceptional. I have bought quite a few extra battys (manuals and autos - around 12 total) and they are all working great. Accessories have worked as advertised. Juices have been very good. Cartos have been quite good (for the most part) but obviously...not as good as the juce bottles and my own fills. It's only been a little over two weeks for me though since I started vaping but so far...stellar. Like I said, I don't have any experience with other 808 brands but I can absolutely tell you that you won't be sorry with purchasing the VaporKing or the other products V4L has.

Plus they now have they're new jewel tiped and "stealth" camo battys...some with a friggin 20 second cutoff! WOW. Check V4L at:

Good luck and vape on brutha...er sista...uh...umm...whatever. Vape on!!

Ok, I'm going to order the maxx fusion deluxe starter kit Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits and keep my fingers crossed =)

So now I need extra cartos and/or juice??

Can somebody point me in the direction of some of the more common "tried and true" cartos/juices.

There is so much to take in, and I just want to place my order and be able to hit the ground running!

I went back and looked at the V4L kit and there isn't anything in it you won't use. It has the USB passthru and what looks like 2 chargers, one wall and one USB. I think everyone should have two because it is so crucial to the process. You could always buy a Maxx Fusion battery later and use them with that. Maxx Fusion's edge seems to be the new battery and carts, which will work with any vendor's stuff.

If you can hang on for a few days and wait for their next sale, you may be able to knock that price down. They do seem to run one every week but sometimes it is limited to just batteries, juice, starter kits, etc. Other times it's everything and they range from 20-33%.

Last weekend was a sweet one and the best I've seen at 33% on anything. I always wait for sales when I buy at V4L

VprNomi - I bought my first e-cig at V2cigs and prefer everything from V4L as well, but don't do pre-filleds at all anymore. My leftover V2cigs carts are stored in my glove compartment for dire emergencies only. Like you said, I made the mistake of ordering too many before I learned about refilling and tasty USA made e-juice. With their never ending back order problem I felt the need to stock up as soon as my partial Ultimate kit arrived. Big mistake.

Unless there is something about the vaporking unit itself that is liked over the maxxfusion (or is the same) I think I am gonna try the maxxfusion. Reason being, the maxxfusion kit is only $10 more than the vaporking kit, and the only difference in the kits is the passthrough with the vaporking, which I doubt I would use much, if ever, and the consensus I am seeing is that the maxxfusion is about as good of a smoke as it gets for this size/price class

I definitely will! =)

Thx for all the help thus far everybody.

Final questions before I place my order...

I saw a discount code for 12% off somewhere on these forums I think. If someone knows that code and could provide it to me it would be awesome.

Lastly, everybody says I should get extra juice/cartomizers to sample. Should I just order extra cartos from bloog, or will other maker's cartos work equally well? If others will work, what makers/flavors do people recommend?

Edit: I guess the giant banner at the top of my screen stating "largest cartromizer selection in the world" is probably a good place to start =P
