Went yet another week doing searches and reading. Sold on the KR8 to start. Need to take the plunge and stop the analogs.

QUESTION 1-Research on ECF found a warning about using PT's in the USB port. Will a PT harm a computer? Should I just get the AC to USB for a power source?

Question 2- Saw a note from a supplier for an adapter so that you could use a manual KR8 in an automatic KR8 charger. Are the chargers different? I want to get both types of batteries.

Question 3- if a Fusion = a KR8 what is a MAX Fusion. That supplier claims 20% greater battery life on the MAX. Is this a new version of a KR8?

Chose the KR8 due to the info I read on ECF. Looking to get 3 batts (2 auto, 1man) USB,AC,Car & PCC chargers. PT. Some loaded catz, blank cartz, DSE901 atty, drip tip and some juice. Just my choice from weeks of research.
I'm not lazy-just very weak on computer skills. I will be searching for the answers to the questions I posted. Just looking for some re enforcement.
I will probably purchase from a PA. supplier because I live in PA. If anyone knows of any coupons for a PA supplier of KR8 supplies -that would be a great help.
Thanks in advance for any input-what a great site.

IDK nothing about the KR8, because i use the 510 and can only speak from that standpoint.

i actual got rid of my auto batteries because it doesn't allow you to preheat the liquid before you vap unless you do what i call a double hit. short hit followed by your actual hit

also or at least on the 510 i know dripping on autos is basically a no-no, because of the little hole in the battery that activates the battery, liquid can leak down there and destroy the battery. manuals do not have that problem due to there is no hole

Q1: It's not recommended to use a PT directly connected to the USB ports on a PC because they can draw more power than the port can safely provide. You risk burning out that USB port (or worse, the entire USB chipset) on your motherboard. Play it safe and plug in through a hub. Note that if you have USB ports on your monitor (and you're not using an all-in-one PC like an iMac), you already have a powered hub. That said, I successfully used a V4L 5V PT on a Dell laptop for several weeks without any issue. The PT eventually died because the button broke, but the laptop's USB ports still work just fine.

Q2: Do you know what supplier said that? Manual and automatic KR8 batteries are exactly the same, just with a different activation method. There are some bigger batter options like the Elegant Easy or PigCig that require a different charger, but if you're just talking about regular kr8 batteries they all use the same charger.

Q3: The MAXX Fusion is just a new battery. They have a higher mAh rating (meaning they last longer) and I believe are bigger/longer than the Fusion, but otherwise they're still just kr8 auto batteries. I believe the Bloog batteries are only available as automatics, which means you probably shouldn't drip with them (dripping can get juice in the battery, killing it).

1. It is a better idea to use a PT with a wall adapter to give you the voltage it's supposed to, and incase of any damage to the USB port, although i've not seen that happen often.

2. Some of the screw-in wall chargers adapter is far into the hole and the button on manual batteries gets in the way, but if you're buying the charger the same place as the batts then you shouldn't need an extension adapter as they should have gotten manual batts with the button further down to avoid that problem. All KR8 chargers are compatible with auto and manual batts, there is no difference.

3. The Maxxfusion from Bloog is another KR8 but it has a different type of auto switch inside so that the draw is instant and not a pain to keep sucking harder to keep the draw going like a lot of auto KR8 batts. They have a shorter cutoff but the batts aren't really noticeably longer lasting than comparable batts their size imo, like 40mah more or something ? They are probably saying their batts last longer due to using higher resistance cartos, but that would work the same way on any other KR8 stuff too. The new PCC case they have looks kinda snazzy though.

Welcome to the forum Will o Wisp!

I have always had great success with the KR808D-1 batteries. The threading on the manual batts and auto's are the same so you can use the same charger. Since you mentioned you live in PA and would prefer a supplier from your state then I would recommend checking out

GoodProphets.com - Your view into the world of vaping...

It is located in Akron, PA and they have fast shipping. You probably could get your items within a day or two at the most since they are good about shipping out the same day you place your order.
They also have a retail store in Stevens PA.

I purchased my very first manual KR808D-1 battery and PCC combo from Good Prophets and it is still going strong! I still favor that manual to this day over all of my old fancy colored auto batts I purchased from other vendors.
The KR808D-1 batts are Kanger so that is a plus... Good reliable manufacturer!

Prices are exceptionally good. Overall you could probably find what your looking for based on what you have mentioned as your preferences at this time.

You can check out Good Prophets sub-forum in the suppliers section here and read some additional feedback from customers as well get more of a personal feel and perspective for the vendor before you make your final decision to order. Might be a coupon code for a discount mentioned in that sub-forum? or they have been known to run sales and specials at different times in the past.

Look forward to hearing about your new purchases regardless of wherever you decide to get your goods !

Thanks for the replies. Re-enforced what I found in searches. Best to be-double sure. Made my decision -finally-from DonDaBoomVape's excellent article for first timers. Short responses due to typing skills---toddes-adaptor was mentioned in ECig accessories for manual KR8. Dormouse- I will ask Bloog today. Firefly-definately getting a wall adaptor for usb -may end up w 1 MAX if it fits a regular KR8 charger. SSV2-Thanks for the welcome and info--been reading sub forums (actually reading EVERYTHING for several weeks now) WAYYYY too many hours. To make it even worse- I smoke even more trying to finally get off analogs while reading about it.... GoodProphets & LiteCigUSA are my choices. intriken-thanks for the positive re-enforcement.
For all- I research everything I do. (despite my computer skills) I actually have more time into this than the car I bought in December.(2008 Scion). ECF is the BEST source of info and support that I have found. GREAT site.
I still am lost on the coupon thing- some are obvious w links BUT not for the suppliers I'm looking at. I keep finding outdated stuff.
I will report my experiences to try and be an asset to ECF. Thank you

I had forgotten that LiteCigUsa is based out of PA too! Made many purchases from them.
Even better selection of KR808D-1 goods with Great prices!
Good source for getting Boge 808 HR and LR cartomizers with the soft caps!

There are two kinds of PTs.

One has an inline battery. It looks like a regular battery except it has a cord coming out of where the LED should be. This is reasonably safe to use on a computer because the USB port is being used to constantly recharge the battery rather than directly supply power to the coil. I personally prefer the 808-XL PT because its length gives a better balance against the cord.

The other kind is usually much shorter and is really nothing more than a cord with a connector to which you attach the cartomizer. These are the ones which are dangerous to use directly on a computer because they draw all their power from the port.

Whichever one you use, a separate AC to DC adapter is a good idea. I found an 'IQ' 2amp, 2port adapter from Wal-Mart for $9.95 (or $9.99, I don't recall exactly). It's slim, nicely configured, and available for ordering online with free site-to-store.

Sorry I can't answer your other two questions -- I use only automatic 808s.

I'm almost worried that I shouldn't post this... but before you spend $5+ on a drip tip, check out

Drip Tip for 510/901 - $1.19 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

These are the exact same products made out of the exact same plastic as everyone else is price gouging for...

reasonable prices on everything else too...

(these fit the kr808d-1 just fine)

Sorry to disappear -work & vaping now..........enjoy it.
Thanks for the extra info on the PT. Missed that detail. Thanks everyone- I 'll do a report soon to see if I can add to ECF.

Meanwhile I want to try a manual PT for the car. Only one I found so far that even mentions compatibility is the V4L car adapter. Most others that have a description just say-charging only NOT for a PT.

I'll do some more searching or star a thread. Comments are very welcome.

another 'just a note'
I have a 510 auto,,,a riva 901 and a 808 both manual and auto,
My favorite of all is my 808 and best of all is my 808 auto,
Most flavor, most throat hit, most vape,
I just bought a used manual passthru and an ac adapter for it and if I like the 5V then I will order an auto from V4L,,,best one on the market from what I hear,

I'm glad you are enjoying your 808. The 510 is the big new in thing in e-cigs but to me it just can't compare to the 808. In fact I will probably give my 510 away,

Enjoy the trip

Is this the one you are talking about? Walmart.com: iQ-Power Dual USB AC Power Adapter: iPods & MP3 Players

And AC to USB power adapter list max amps or mA. You can charge things that need less. I use a 4-port 2amp USB to AC by Rosewill from NewEgg. I can either use a PT or charge up to 4 batteries or PCC and batteries. if I knew exactly what the max power draw of my PT was then I might be able to charge one battery while using it. But I don't know the math of volts and carto or atty ohms to figure out the exact power draw.

Thanks all for the input, support and info.

Wish I knew more about the electric also. If I find out I will post. I have a friend that understands electricity.

It would be nice if more of the suppliers had detailed specs on power requirements.
With the SCIENCE that is related in some of these forums-regarding electrical requirements-you could find multitudes of quality alternative sources for power (like the examples listed above).

Forgive the rave/rant- I just find that with all the info from ECF and the suppliers specs (or lack of) listed- I'm usually missing at least -one bit of info- that would absolutely clarify it for me.

Of course that is what these forums are for. At least I am vaping as I rant and post and research.
