In addition to being a cranky (but entirely adorable) Texas conservative, my old daddy (almost 70) smoked for over 50 years. (To be fair, he did take a few weeks off from it following an angioplasty when he was in his 40's.) Anyway, I knew the last thing my dad needed/wanted to hear was anyone else pushing at him about smoking; after all, having people on my back about my own former smoking had always irritated me to no end. Still, I figured, what the heck -- at least he'll get a chuckle out of my finding an issue on which I agree with his hero Rush -- and emailed him a short description of e-cigs, as well as a link to one of the Rush videos on Youtube. (I threw in a link to Katherine Heigl's David Letterman interview, for good measure. She's pretty, and my dad is a manI) ;)

On my way to the forum here, I checked my email and discovered he had replied. What he said completely surprised me. Last December while listening to one of the Rush shows, my dad decided to try this e-cig thing for himself. And he's been smoke-free (thanks to SafecCig) for over half a year, after more than five decades of smoking. It turned out, he was way ahead of me on this one! Rush may be my dad's hero, but he's mine!

I just had to share his success story (since odds are good he'll never sign up here himself). Then again... he just might surprise me again.

That's awesome! Now, you should write him back and give him the 'what for' as he didn't introduce you to e-cigs when he realized how great they can be for giving up analogs! (Just kidding!) :p It's nice to find something out of the ordinary you have in common with your parents, especially when you each arrived at it on your own. Maybe you could just set him up with some butter cream frosted cake e-liquid or prefilled cartos for his next birthday. Make a wish and vape! :D

You'd think by now he'd be looking for a model with better battery life (vs. RN4081). But, hey whatever works. :)

I'm so glad you put the model # here because I was wondering what it was. (You saved me a search!) Like you said -- whatever works! (I'm just so proud of him and still so very amazed he beat me to it.)
