Yeah I have the cinnamon extraction, cocoa extraction, and sugar cookie sleigh ride tea extraction on my to-do list. So much fun stuff to tinker with but never enough time....

I did the cocoa, tea and lots of coffee bean varieties. I'll never buy commercial varieties of those flavors again I tell ya! Just tasted the black tea for the first time the other day (so many flavors, so little room for test bottles lol!) and it's awesome!

Tried this today with ground cinnamon, and it was an epic fail. I think it was too finely ground. Turned into a little knot of goo, even after the hot water bath. So, I put it in a funnel and I'm letting it drip for hours to see just how much liquid comes out. Whatever I do get will be HIGHLY concentrated, which is probably good, because I've got coffee extract coming out of my ears! Hey, live and learn. . .

Its supposed to turn to goo .Then you strain it through a coffee filter into a new bottle and you get highly concentrated cinnamon extract .

I let it drip in the funnel/coffee filter for approximately six hours. Ended up with a minute amount of liquid in the new bottle, less than one-tenth of a ml. Scrapped the whole thing. I think next time I'll buy whole cinammon sticks and grind them myself into larger pieces, more reminiscent of coffee grounds. I think the coffee gave me something like 20 ml. . .

I am trying the cinnamon extraction today. I filled my 30ml bootle only 1/2 way with ground cinnamon to start and followed the directions, exactly the same as for coffee extraction. The consistenct seemed to be very similar to the coffee extraction at this point, perhaps finer, less chunky, if that makes sense, because the cinnamon is more finely ground. It seems to be draining through the filter nicely, but slowly. I always let my coffee extractions drain at least overnight, so I'll see what I've got in the morning.

No one has mentioned which coffee filters they use. I use a recycled paper basket type filter, really inexpensive. I find that it drains far better than a cone type because there are no seams.

I'm going to try some cocoa extraction this afternoon, too.

I'm using the cheapo paper filters from Wally World, about a million in the package for less than $2. It did appear that the filter absorbed a lot of pg, but it was not stained brown except the part above the funnel opening. I must have done it "wrong" so I'll give it another shot next weekend. Thanks! Hey, report back on that cocoa extract, sounds yummy!!
