Thanks danny. I've got to place an order with ecx, so I'll try the Hangsen. What % do you use to get a fairly strong vanilla flavor?

Taste is subjective and I use it as a complement to other flavors. So start with 2 - 3% and add more if nessessary. You should always add the minimum and work your way up.

You could easily DIY you own Vanilla flavoring using PGA and/or VG/PG. I've used this method in the past and it works really well, but time is a requirement. It's not a 2-3 process, more like 4-6 weeks to 3-6 months depending on what you use and how long you want the flavor to pull from the vanilla beans.

It's harder to find vanilla beans around here, at least at a somewhat decent price (stores sell 2-3 for $12 around here - and you'll probably use them all in a small batch).

Just a suggestion. There's quite a bit of information on Google/YouTube to make things easier and follow along with.

I have 3 beans steeping in pg as we speak. Probly gonna take 2 months but I really will have no idea when it's ready.

When it gets caramel/coffee/amber color, that's when you know the solvent (PG or PGA) is doing it's job. Another 3-8 weeks, depending on how often you shake (daily is recommended), and it should be ready to sample. You don't want to continuously open and close the bottle during this stage, but taking a sample every week or two isn't going to hurt the process.

I believe my first sample was taken 4 weeks in the last time I made some, and after that, I didn't touch it again for nearly a month and a half. It was near perfect then and I kept the vanilla beans in there to keep the process going. I used it all up (for baking) before I had a chance to get it into my liquids, but I plan on doing another batch soon if I can find a good source for more than 2-3 beans @ $12.
