Interesting. The concept of "harm reduction" has always been more popular amongst the medical/public health set in the UK than here in the US, where the sole acceptable belief is "BAN! BAN! BAN!"

But "Nudge unit"? Pure Cass Sunstein. "Light touch regime"?? Heh. As if such a thing could ever resist the pull of bureaucratic do-gooder gravity. Typical UK gov-speak -- how very Orwellian. NICE Committee, anyone? :D

How about I just kill em all? The World would be a much better place if most peoples were gone and just plants and animals remained...and me too :D
PS- Mosquitoes and flies would die too, and a certain manager at my store and....nevermind :p

Don't forget those nasty nasty yellow jackets.....for that matter, all in the wasp and hornet family!!

Hey Kee I think wasps and yellow jackets do a lot of good! They actually carry away caterpillers that are eating your crops and lay eggs on those critters, a bad way to go for sure. They are the warriors of the insects and are meat and sugar eaters and, so they go after the fried chicken and sodas.
They are the sharks of the insect world and as long as you don't mess with them they will leave you alone :)
PS- I think spiders are awesome too~

OK I admit if a spider is in my house it's dust. And Black Widows are dead as soon as i see em, working in a outside area for almost 20 years I've become a hardass when it comes to widows, but today i had to stop a cashier from killing a beautiful garden spider in her web, while she's eating flies :)

Yea, but they are not nice at all....and they make me swell up like a balloon. They know it too....they are chasers! Nasty Nasty buggers!
Most spiders don't bother me.....as long as they are not poisonous to me and keep their distance:laugh: I DO NOT like them in my house though:grr:

Would catch an assortment of bugs for her Ms. Lisa, her favorite being beatles. Had no fears of her biting. Would actually handle her quite often. Spider venom and I get along quite well, ben bitten multiple times by brown recluses (my old store had them in the basement) with no effect. Was bitten once by the widow, no reaction. Bee on the other hand, death...

Just trying to understand y'all . . .

Government intrusion, nanny state, etc. is o.k. in this situation??? "Nudge Committee" is pretty loaded. Sounds like the govt. is attempting to compel their citizens to act through force.

Is it because it's in the U.K., and doesn't affect you directly? Or is it because they're semi-supporting your position?

Support the fact they see ecigs as a viable alternative to smoking Jmpublius sir, not familiar with the tactics of a nudge committee, if it's a pr campaign then don't see an issue with it. If it's a we come to your house break your legs and pee on your bed unless you switch group, no.

I hope not. I didn't get from the article whether this was a govt. agency or not, but the thought of an agency, "nudging" is ominous. Regardless of what they're supporting or opposing.
