These are some of my random thoughts and observations about e-smoking after my first full month of being off of analogs and strictly vaping. As usual, I’ll offer the disclaimer that these are my person opinions, and that there is much room for disagreement.

1. I have found only one flavor (out of trying about a dozen) that I really enjoy (cherry, from esmoker). However, after a few days of this one flavor, the taste seems to become dull. I have found that switching to another flavor for a session or two helps reset the pallet, making the flavor of preference more enjoyable again.

2. The difference between vaping on a Low Resistance atomizer and a regular atomizer is like the difference between that mom n’ pop pizza place down the street and Ellio’s frozen pizza. Ellio’s is good enough when your starving, but it kinda sucks. The Low Resistance atomizer, for me, has turned a so-so vaping experience into an amazingly satisfying one.

3. So far, I have noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever in throat-hit between using 100% PG and 100% VG. I’ve used both in their purity over the last 30 days and have found (again, in my very personal opinion) the only difference to be in vapor production, VG being slightly superior in this category.

4. My vaping needs and bodily reaction to vaping varies greatly throughout the day. In the morning I can handle only a couple drags, as the throat hit is much more intense. As the day wears on, I find that I require many more drags in a session. By late night, I am vaping non-stop.

5. Throughout the day, I constantly find myself wanting to “intervene” with people that I see smoking analogs. Even strangers. I’m not a religious man, but I find myself constantly trying to quell the need to preach the vapor gospel to all of those around me who are still plagued by the demons of cigarettes. :p As Katherine Heigl noted on David Letterman, “There’s really no excuse to smoke cigarettes anymore.” So so true!

6. This forum is not only a great place to become more educated about getting the best vaping experience for one’s personal needs, but is a place of community support for all of us who have struggled with such an emotionally charged addiction. Some of us for a couple years, some of us for decades. This forum is a powerful place, and will no doubt help save many of our lives. What an amazing thing.

Well, that’s all I got for now. Thanks for reading the brief, random observations of a new-ish vaper. Surely there will be more to come. :)

Nice post. I can relate to several of your points. I've observed the same things about the time of day and the quality of vapes. The best vapes of the day tend to be (for me) the first few...or at least the first few hours of the day. By evening, I chain-vape and still can't seem to get "enough"...or a hard enough hit...or something.

And I have also noticed the same thing you have about switching out flavors. I usually have my two favorite flavors loaded up in two different pvs, and I switch them off all day. That way they both stay "fresh" for me.

Hi Dave... Thought I'd add my experience so far to yours - since I've been vaping about a month too.

This forum has helped a tremendous amount in educating me to the many many different choices in vaping. I am grateful beyond words. Thanks to everyone who's taken the time to post.

Mini's and supermini's are cool looking, but don't last long enough to make them worth it. Right now I'm charging and switching 2 E9's and one E8 battery to get through the night. <Bleh>

Cartomizers clog easily with some juices, but I like it. Especially the Honey Flue with a touch of watermelon from Backyard Brew <g>. Glad I found out about refilling cartos before I threw too many away.

When you most need an order of batteries, juice, or cartos, they will be very slow in arriving. When time isn't important, delivery is amazingly fast - even from China. I know there's a rule that cover's that - not Murphy's - some help here?

After using the E8's and E9's for a month, it's very clear a larger unit is needed for someone who's been smoking 30+ analogs a day for 30 years.

There's definitely something missing from the nic juice, but even with that vaping is much better than smoking analogs. Still looking for that WTA juice <g>.

If you have the money, buy two or three or four setups. You'll continue to be tempted to give it away, have a friend or relative try it, or give someone a chance to vape. If you can, be generous. You'll save their lives too.

Nighttime is hardest, and not having fresh batteries then is the worst.

I prefer warm, moist, sweet vapor. I'm still looking for the perfect vapor. E8's and E9's likely won't provide it.

E8 Cartos need to be juiced often.

Vaping is the first real substitute for analogs I've found. I'm very excited about the future of this industry.

Warmest,
Ronda

Agreed, good post. LR can be important and really started me "on the path" too but they too are not all created equal nor did I find it to be a "night and day" experience right out of the box. You have to get to know your atty as well as let them break in a bit. This is true of any atomizer. And now, I can pretty much get just a large hit off my old standard 510 that came with my original eGo kit as I can with any of my LRs (even debridged) especially on a passthrough providing plenty of power at all times.

1. Clear Cartomizers are WAY easier to fill correctly.

2. Low resistance is awesome but the new dual coils are AMAZING (for my dollar clear and dual is the only way to go)

3. Newbies do not need to start with a simple rig. I got a 3.7v tube a week after i started. Whole different experience. Went from vaping (on a regular 501 cigarette style) and wanting analogs so bad to complete and total satisfaction the moment i got my roughstack. Not one analog in the 18 days since.

4. I figured out madvapes.com was located an hour from me. I called them, went to their warehouse. Scott gave me a one hour crash course in EVERYTHING let me try different equipment, flavors, nicotine levels. It was like chem lab in college with an awesome instructor. I left with all the knowledge and stuff to be a happy ex-smoker. If you can find a way to get to madvapes (charlotte, nc) or another vendor and have this sort of experience I would grab the opportunity asap.
