When I first heard about e-cigs I tried doing some research online as the idea sounded intriguing to me. I've smoked for the past 17 years of my life and like most of us here I have wanted to drop the habit for about 17 of those years (obviously not enough, but you know what I mean).
When I started doing some poking around online I got frustrated very quickly at the amount of fake blogs, "news" articles, etc that are obviously nothing more than veiled advertisements for specific companies. It felt nearly impossible to cut through the ad hype and get any real information and feedback on what was available.
A week ago I found this forum, and I have been reading nonstop for the past 7 days. Last night I finally registered... and this morning I placed an order for a 501 starter kit which should hopefully arrive in a few days.
I can't thank those of you on this forum enough for sharing your experiences, your advice, and your resources. You've helped me make an informed decision and set my expectations properly as well.
I don't expect to drop my "analog" cigarettes immediately (by the way, I find that term really funny and have started using it when talking to my friends). But I hope that once I start vaping I can at least curtail my habit.
As the next few weeks go on we'll see how it goes - and if I think I can make the switch completely then I will. I'm trying not to put too much pressure on myself, and ease into the vaping world.
Point is - after 6 months of off and on research I hadn't gotten anywhere and only felt more confused. After a week of reading this forum I feel like a well educated student in the world of e-cigs - and it's all thanks to the members here.
This is a fantastic resource - and I look forward to being able to add to the community at some point when I have some experiences of my own to share.
Thanks for the advice, and thanks to the owners and moderators who keeps this place running.
You all seriously rock.
