IF health risk alone were the true and sole motivating factor behind these health and life insurance decisions, they would find a genuinely "smoking-specific" substance to test for (e.g., blood CO level) rather than testing for a nicotine metabolite (cotinine).

Of course, we all know that health risk has very little to do with these industry-wide decisions -- they get leaned on BIG TIME by the ANTZs.

At least one person on ECF has countered that issue with their insurance company, provided all receipts to show when they began purchasing their e-cig gear, got letters of support from their MD etc. and got the "smoker" ruling reversed by their health insurance provider, with the subsequently lower insurance premiums. If you ask me that approach beats trying to lie and beat the the system or blindly accept the higher premiums as a "that's just the way it is".

I am hopeful that as time passes, and solid, consistent positive results from smokers that have switched to a PV will begin to sway these things further into our favor .. in the meantime, there will really not be any way, at least that I can think of, to convince an insurer that you don't, in fact, smoke analogs .. as long as your system nic level shows in the range high enough to still call you a smoker ..
Change from cotinine testing to carbon monoxide testing.

I had forgotten about that one! They say the memory is the first to go.......I'm in trouble.

Kabooma, try to fight the insurance company. It's worth a shot.

Change from cotinine testing to carbon monoxide testing.

I don't disagree .. however, these tests are generally based on the insurers policy for testing .. so until the carbon monoxide test becomes the industry standard, not just with insurance, but any other area, it's not going to help the OP out ..

Now, perhaps the OP can request a carbon monoxide test in order to appeal ..
