I am asking for your support to block the FDA from banning electronic cigarettes.

I have smoked over a pack a day for 25 years. I have tried to quit and always fail. With this device I stopped smoking seven days ago and have not lit up a cigarette since. If the FDA succeeds in banning this device it constitutes a death sentence for millions of Americans. As well as adding to the cost of health care.

Response:

Dear Mr. Seder:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I will certainly keep your views in mind should this issue come before the Senate.

Sincerely,
Carl Levin

Bear in mind that on issues running counter to an officials stand. Usually result is a longer winded response. At least that was my experience with Mr. Levin on the last issue we didn't agree on.

Still waiting on an email from Representative, Bart Stupak.

At least we are in Michigan, took until now to ban smoking, should take at least 20 more years for them to think about banning e-cigs. Besides Michigan passed the medical marijuana law and they some people use a personal vaporizers to get their marijuana.

Carl Levin is usually not very bright!

Count ourselves lucky that the Michigan smoking ban did not include language to include e-cigs.

Have you asked Stabenow for her support to block a potential ban by the FDA?

Tokenvapor, the Virginia smoking ban didn't mention e cigs, either, but that didn't stop the Va. Dept. of Health from twising the definitions of "smoke" and "cigarette of any kind" to include e cigs. I hope the Michigan ban was written better than the one we're enduring here.

Rearranged for ease of reading:
=========================

(s) “Smoking paraphernalia” means any equipment, apparatus, or furnishing that is used in or necessary for the activity of smoking.

(r) “Smoking” or “smoke” means the burning of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe, or any other matter or substance that contains a tobacco product.

(t) “Tobacco product” means a product that contains tobacco and is intended for human consumption, including, but not limited to, cigarettes, noncigarette smoking tobacco, or smokeless tobacco, as those terms are defined in section 2 of the tobacco products tax act, 1993 PA 327, MCL 205.422, and cigars.
=============================

We're good!! As long as I don't light the end of my PV on fire I'll be OK...
I would suggest that people contact their representatives and urge support for the electronic cigarette BEFORE someone else convinces them otherwise.
