Ok, here goes. 53 years old, smoking since 15 or so, and smoking around half ounce of unfiltered GV per day. Woman at work came in with an e-cig and first draw on it made me go 'wow'. Week or so later of much research I bought something called a Nicocig. Basic small battery with pre-filled cartomizer type thing. Didn't get on with it so ordered an ego t, type a. I refused to pressure myself because I thought that would lead to failure, so I decided to try the ego in the evenings after work. For two evenings I vaped only and went back to analogs in the day. By the second day my beloved Golden Virginia tasted terrible, and at 6:10pm at work I stubbed out the last one. I went home and have been vaping ever since and have not touched a single analog, not even a drag. After a couple of days the urge to roll a smoke started to fade, and now I love vaping. I can enjoy the act of smoking, I can enjoy the nicotine, I can enjoy the flavours, and I am getting all the benefits of quitting smoking. It just doesn't get any better and I feel great, and I'm just approaching the end of my fifth week tobacco free. I even vape at my desk at work in a company that has always been non-smoking even before the law changed, and my wife is coming up to her fourth week and vaping is so much better for her as she has asthma. Along they way we have progressed to ego t type b's, I now have a Megalodon, and I am mixing juice for both of us. Our house is smoke free!

I just hope our loony government and the rabid anti-smoking puritans keep their ...... noses out of vaping and don't spoil the party with crippling taxes or legislation.

Hope the above is of interest to anyone thinking about vaping or just starting out. I was convinced I would smoke tobacco until it killed me but here I am, five weeks tobacco free and loving vaping. I don't miss the tobacco at all.

So if you are sitting on the fence or thinking about vaping, just do it. It really is so, so worth it!

First, Let me say congratulations!!! You took a BIG step in getting healthier!

Since I have switched to vaping, I have personally helped 4 people (One being my mom) quit smoking and hop aboard the vape train! Next person, And hardest customer will be my dad. He's about the same as you.. Turning 60 next month, Smoking since 14-15.. But, I'll do anything to get him off the analogs and onto a vape!!!!!

Thanks, it feels terrific doesn't it? Good luck with your dad, show him my story if it helps. Do all you can to convert him and keep him around for longer, he will thank you for it I am sure.

Grats!! And I agree about the rabid anti-smoking-or-anything-that-looks-like-it people.

Thank you! I don't know how things are there but here in the UK the anti smoking lobby is pretty powerful, and our government just roll along with their endless hounding of smokers one one hand while collecting huge tobacco tax revenues in the other. Meanwhile our cities are blighted by, and our taxes are being squandered on, policing the ever growing hordes of binge drinking teenage yobs.

Funny old life, isn't it?

It really is amazing. I'm sure there's some downside, as yet undiscovered. But, it cannot be worse than smoking. I was highly skeptical about this as everything else had failed miserably. As soon as I started vaping, I stopped smoking. It is a bleeping miracle.

I'm into my second week and it is like I never smoked.

Yes, I too have looked hard for the catch but I have yet to find it. Congrats on your two weeks!

Olef, you brought back memories. I've had a secret stash of Three Castles Virginia Bright burley. Here in the US it's been discontinued for years. This stash was my armageddon stash and I would roll myself a tight one several times a day. After my 4th day, I threw out the Castles like it was yesterday's garbage and never looked back.

I figure it was a part of my life and now it's over.

Congratulations and Vape like a mad man, it's the only thing that's ever worked for me

Tell your Dad that it works. I smoked 1-2 packs per day for over 40 years and I have the health problems to go with it. I quit 1/17/11 by buying NJOY at 7/11. I've since gone on to other things (presently 501) and I cannot believe how easy it has been to quit analogs. I found that my addiction was 80-90% behavioral, and not the craving for nicotine. Tell him to give it a shot. Beats the hell out of COPD.
