I keep posting questions, sorry - still very new to this and thanks so much to all who have replied, this forum is loaded with great info and very nice people.

I have two PVs, have got great info on the 501 and keep checking for more - still working on getting the liquid amount correct but have been told 16 drops on a new, dry cart is correct.

Questions on my other E-cig, it is the DSE 801 Classic PenStyle:

When you charge extra batteries, how long do they hold their charge after you charge them and set them aside for use? Are they still fully charged when you need to change batteries?

How many drops in a cart for restuffing the DSE 801? I have been told 16 for the 501, which I never thought would fit, but somehow it does, so I must be under-dropping liquid in my 801.

How often do you top off the restuffed cart and how many drops?

Ordered extra batteries from China and they seem very touchy, turn on much easier than the original battery that came with my DSE 801, is that normal and is that alright?

Any difference in the atomizers from China than any other atomizers?

Does anyone know of any plans to make a Manual switch battery for the DSE 801 - have checked and so far cannot find one. I know many e-cigs can work with other e-cig parts, but unsure of any that work with the DSE 801.

Thanks for any info, I know it's time consuming - sorry!!

Hi Darlene,
I'm still pretty new to this but I think I can help with a few of your questions.

As far as how much to fill each cart, I would just say add a few drops at a time until
the top of the filter just starts to puddle. Then give it a gentle shake. You should be good to go from there. If you count the drops over the course of a few fillings it will give you an average to expect. There really isn't a set amount of drops per cartridge per se.

Lithium ion batteries such as the ones that are used in e-cigs don't lose there charge like the older technology batteries so feel free to charge them all up and use them when you're ready. Unless they are sitting for months at a time without use, they will be pretty much at full capacity when you use them.

I haven't used the 801 so I can't really answer anything specific to that model but I can tell you that all parts for all e-cigs currently are coming from China. That said, there may be a difference in quality between different manufacturers. That's where these forums come in handy. I would start by reading through some of the review threads for the 801 and I bet that will give you tons of info and probably even answer some questions you didn't even know you had.

Oh yeah and don't worry about asking questions, that's what the forums are here for.

Happy vaping!!! :)

Hi darlene,
some pressure switches are toucher than others, some you really need to suck on to get them to switch on. Take off the atom and suck and blow in it to loosen up the diaphragm, it will turn on easier.
an 801 will take 20 plus drops, but a drop is not a drop, it depends on your dropper, start with about 20 then like the above post says keep dropping one at a time till the top is slightly puddled, you can wick the excess away with a tissue of just shake it off.
The 801 is a good smoker, but you really must try a dse901 or a screwdriver, to me it is the closest to real smoking.
Good luck with your e-cigs!

DSE 801 Classic PenStyle:

The batteries will not be fully charged if you do not use them for several weeks, but should work fine.

You can probably put up to 1ml (or 20 drops) into an 801 cartridge.

How often do you top off the restuffed cart and how many drops?

I top off between 5-8 draws on my penstyle devices. Wet is good; dry is not so good.

Ordered extra batteries from China and they seem very touchy, turn on much easier than the original battery that came with my DSE 801, is that normal and is that alright?

Some batteries fire when you take a draw off the device. Some newer batteries are weird. Impact from touching them or loud sounds set them off. I have no idea why some bozo thought this would be better. Regardless, they work. I tend to keep these freaky batteries disconnected when not in use.

Any difference in the atomizers from China than any other atomizers?

All atomizers are from China.

They are out there, I just do not know where to send you to find them.

Hi breakfastchef
Thanks, that is pretty thorough and clear!! Printed it out for my quick answer sheet. Reason I asked about the batteries is I jut got extra ones from BestEcig in China - it took about 6 days to get them, but when I was opening the package they came in the lights were on and blinking on all 4 of them - after opening the package and the lights went out I picked one up and light came back on, light came on if I blew on them or anything. These batteries had never been used yet and were not connected to anything. Could that be from not being charged yet or just happens when you get them? I never had that happen with the two batteries that came with the original DSE 801 so was wondering why they were so active. Again, thanks so much for your information, helps a lot!!!

my battery experience is with the 901's only (but it should still apply)
i have a charger at work, in the car and at home - i always have a battery in a charger, that way when they die, I can grab a fresh one and go
I do find that after 2 or so hours, the vapor tapers down and its time to change the battery, even if it still lights up...

The Janty Kissbox penstyle also comes in a manual form from what I have read on here. I do not have one. I would go to the Janty web site and check it out.

But as others have mentioned, if you want the best vaping experience with consistent throat hit and batteries that last 7-8 hours, then you need to get a Screwdriver, - The ScrewDriver - An electronic cigarette that simply works or the new Prodigy from puresmoker, PureSmoker.com - Your #1 Source For PV's, Parts, & Accessories!. You pretty much will have all your questions answered after using these for a few days.

Some manufacturers have recently changed the switches in their batteries. It used to be that when you took a draw off your device the air flow would trigger the battery to turn on and power your atomizer. These new batteries are so sensitive that loud noises or impact can set them off. There is nothing wrong with them, but they do tend to fire when you are not vaping. I recommend that you only unscrew your atomizer from the batteries every evening. If you find your atomizer getting hot during the day, then deep the battery disconnected except when you are vaping. I am not a big fan of these new batteries, but they may be a better solution than having the old style batteries fail because some smoking fluid dripped through to them.
