Hi there. New guy here. Been lurking around here for a while, and decided to finally join. So a big Hello to All!!!
Anyway, I liked the idea of vaping, and decided to jump right in and try and build my own. I've had some success with the Puck mod, but wanted to see what other puck users are using for their set up. I built a 4xAA version and am using a no name tankomizer. I have three different cartos for the tank, 2ohm, 3ohm and 4ohm, all single coil. So I get a lot of vapor, but almost no flavor. My friend suspects that I am running it too hot. I just checked the voltage on my freshly charged cells, and I am at 5.8volts. It does seem high to me, but thats what it comes out too when I take it off the charger. So I was hoping to get other puck users to give up their magic set ups for the best vapor and flavor.
Thank you in advance.

Thanks. I hope someone can offer some info. I just had a heck of a time trying to find this post. It was pushed all the way to the 7th page! I will say that I tried my friends nimbus on my puck and it was awesome. Good flavor and still lots of vapor. I'm thinking it must be my cartotank set up. I'm going to have to research some rebuildable's perhaps.

I just run little V-Nano clearos on mine, same setup as yours almost exactly, 4xAA NiHM cells. Also was running 2.2 or 2.6ohm cartos and had little to no issues with burning or lack of flavor. Might want to look at your tank rather than the mod itself, unless you're vaping very thick or very thin juices.

I'll post a picture of my mod shortly. Nothing fancy though. I didn't even bother with the led. I will have to try some of my lower ohm carto's and see what happens. The mod and all mods really are just so simple, so I doubt that it really has to do with that. More of just a combo of the right carto/ohm/juice. I'll get there eventually. Just wanted to start somewhere that has been tested. I'll look into the v nano too.

I believe that the 2 ohm carto is probably a little too low to use on your puck mod. I have built and extensively used a couple of similar 4 AA pucks, though it has been awhile since I have used either of them. When you hit the vape button on your mod the battery output voltage will drop by at least a volt, if I remember correctly the drop was about 1.2 - 1.4 volts when I measured this on my mods. This is due to the nature of the Ni-mh batteries, they work for vaping, but are probably not the best choice.

Anyway, if you have checked your batteries to be at 5.8 volts with a fresh charge, and we guesstimate a 1 volt drop in voltage when you vape, with a 2 ohm carto will be vaping at over 11 watts of power, probably too high for most people, though tastes/preferences do vary. With the 3 ohm carto you will be at about 7.5 watts, more in the normal range for most vapers, and with the 4 ohm carto you will be at about 5.5 watts, probably a little low for most vapers.

When I used my pucks I like cartos around 2.5 to 3 ohms, but again, tastes/preferences vary. Currently with my Vamo I vape around 7 to 8 watts depending on the juice, my mood and the time of day.

As for why you do not taste your juice, a number of different answers are possible - just the nature of the juice, vapers tongue, wattage too high, and so on.

Hope this helps.

Here is a shot of my puck. Nothing special. I also just wanted to see if I could attach an image
