Hi everyone. My name is Jean, 56 years old, female, from the UK and I joined the forum yesterday.

I suffered a heart attack back on New Year Day 2010, and had an emergency angioplasty that day. I was told it was time to quit my 30 year 20+ per day smoking habit. It went OK for a few months but I really missed smoking. I started smoking again. I tried to give up multiple times using patches, sprays, lozenges and drugs (Champix) with mixed degrees of success. I decided to give vaping a go about 2 years ago.

The first set I got was a small refillable tank which had a cotton wick and a small rechargeable battery. I got a 24mg nicotine juice. The whole set up cost a few pounds and was OK, sort of OK, but I knew little about vaping and knew no better. I felt that it did not satisfy me much and the battery was poor in terms of how long it would last. I started looking online and realised vaping had moved on a long way and my research led me to go for a variable voltage evod kit. It was a way more satisfying smoking like experience and I stuck with it for a year or so. I was with my sister one day in a town near where she lives and as she wanted to explore vaping we visited the shop that sells vape stuff. Now she thought she was with someone who knew about this stuff but that person was now realising she knew nothing at all. I had my eyes opened wide in there. I was learning, asking questions, trying stuff and loving every moment. I tried an aspire atlantis set up and the aspire sub ohm battery. I was blown away by finally getting that satisfying throat hit. I spent big that day, tank, battery, several juices as I was told it would need a lower nicotine juice. I was so happy, and still am.

I still want to learn more and that is why I joined this forum.

Hi and welcome! Congrats on getting off the cigarettes. There is a wide range of vaping equipment available these days and just about everyone can find what fits them best. If you are using a subohm tank and higher power, you typically do require less nic in your liquid. Even with a "regular" system your nic needs can decrease over time. This place has lots of useful information, so dig in and ask questions so you can get the most out of your equipment and your vaping experience.

Hi Jean, welcome to ECF and congratulations on putting down the stinkies. There is a load of information available on the forum. I have found that the proper device with the correct level of nicotine is one of the keys to successful vaping. I would also like to invite you to check out a couple links that I believe are the best links on the forum.
Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part Four This is the Front Porch where we try to keep the topic on vaping.
Older Folks and Vaping Back Porch-Part Six This is the Back Porch where the topics are varied.
I have found the folks on the porches to be very open and friendly. Some of us are more mature and our experience with vaping varies greatly. Come on over, pull up a chair, your favorite vape and say hi.

Welcome Home to the ECF Family,
Vaping cured me of a nearly 60 year love affair with pipes and cigars. And yes, I inhaled every puff. Not doing so would be the same as taking a mouthful of good scotch and not swallowing.

I started out pretty basic at first and got wrapped up inn the flavor thing. Once I switched to unflavored...there were no more flavor worries. I started out two years ago at 24 mgs of nicotine and am proud to report that after two years....I've cut it down to 24 mgs. I also discovered squonking and that has greatly improved my vaping experience. Building and mixing have saved me a lot of money as well.

Good luck jean and keep us posted on your journey!
