A little mixing help please

I am having a little trouble with my DIY operation. Some of my flavoring isn't strong enough and it is coming out a little harsh (even with 18% nicotine). I am about to go buy some more nicotine and flavoring so if you have any recommendations on what I should by I am all ears. I have looked at the DIY e-liquid flavor chart, so I have an idea on the better flavors from the different suppliers.

I currently have:
100% Nicotine 50/50 (I was wondering if i different mix would be better)
All my flavors are PG based
I only have VG for base (Is it important to have both???)

I am new to DIY so I will listen to anything ya'll have to say. If there is any additives I should buy please list. I make all types of liquids. Deserts, Tabacco and fruits.

If it's too harsh you may want to mellow your flavouring out a bit with pure PG or VG (depending on what your flavouring is based in). I'd do some tests with this using separate dropper bottles to make sure you don't mess up an entire bottle of it.

Thank you Feral for the advise. All my flavors are 100% PG, so I am sure cutting them down with some VG will help out dramatically. Something I never even thought of.

I also use 100% nicotine at 50/50. Its' perfect for things in the 70/30 (pg/vg or vg/pg) to 50/50 range, as the math is much easier. That being said, you should always use a calculator. I, as well as a lot of others here, prefer the ejuicemeup calculator.

I had a similar problem with harshness. You have to consider that, unless you know for sure otherwise, your concentrate will be PG based. If you add too much PG on top of your PG based concentrate, it will certainly make it harsher. What PG/VG ratio do you normally make?

And yes, it is certainly important to have both PG and VG. You will almost certainly always have to add one or the other. Always use a calculator, and make sure you are following the recipe to the t. Don't go by the drops either. Always go by mLs.

What percentage flavoring are you using? Too much flavoring can actually have an opposite effect of flavor, where it becomes harsh, chemically, or perfumy. Keep experimenting, and find what works best for you. Start with a low % of flavor and work your way up. Good luck in your experiments, and vape on!

50/50 doesn't work for me. Seems I don't get enough vape. Plus to much pg gives me heart burn. Tried just using VG but, it muted the flavor and it started tasting like band-aids and crayons , lol...

No, no you don't. You have 100mg/ml nicotine in a 50/50 PG/VG base, which is about 10% nicotine. 100% nicotine wouldn't have any PG or VG because it would be the entire mass. And if for some bizarre reason you did have 100% nicotine, I really hope you have the proper lab equipment and knowledge to handle it without endangering yourself and others. (Plus discussion of it is forbidden on ECF.)

If you like your juice VG heavy, just having VG is fine.
