I an M401/403 and I will agree with Tomzgreat that the cartridges don't hold or wick very well, but the battery life is satisfactory, and the vapor production is great when dripping or with a freshly filled cartridge. There isn't much throat hit from hit, but my model produces gobs and gobs of vapor.

I can't comment on the 510, but I plan on ordering one soon enough. Ruyandirect.com has them for so cheap, how can I resist?

I have both the 401 and 510. Since you only asked for the negatives, here ya go.

510:
Battery life - buy the PCC and this will fix the problem
Atty life - will probably get around a month for each

401:
Vapor isn't as worm or as thick as the 510
Small carts - just drip/dip with this unit. It makes it perform much better.

Overall quality of the 401 is very good, but the vapor production and throat hit on the 510 is better.

I still use both, but I find myself using the 510 much more often. The overall vapor quality is just outstanding :)

Throat hit is very important to me. It looks like I need to top off a lot or carry a lot of pre-filled carts.

What's a PCC?

Thanks,

PCC = Personal Charging Case. Its like a cigarette case (with its own battery) that holds a couple of cartridges and can re-charge batteries while your on the go.

Yeah, I'd carry around a couple of pre-filled carts and always have a bottle of juice with you as well. With juice you can always refill your carts or simply drip on to the atomizer.

PCC stands for Personal Charger Case. The unit is a life saver. I bought several 510 kits at start so I have plenty of batteries but carrying 3-4 batteries for a day out is too much hassle. The unit is compact size, smaller than a marlboro 100s, holds 1 batt, 1 atty, and 2 cartridges. Once the unit is fully charged via usb, which it takes about 4 hrs or so, you can charge battys up to 4-5 times and the charaging time for batty is only about 1.5 to 2hrs. So when you are away all you need is the unit and a spare batty and you are all set.
