new to ecigs. pros and con's of 510 vs eroll

Hey guys. I am looking at getting either a 510 with a 1ml clearo or an eroll. I have no experience what so ever so I was wondering if a few of you could let me know the pros and cons of each model so I can make a more informed choice when I place my order tomorrow. Key things I'm after in an ecig are small analog-ish form factor and PCC so from the research I have done so far I figure I will be looking at the enroll but the 510 also seems like it could be what I'm looking for if I get some small clearos for it. I'd prefer to be able to hold it like a normal cig which I have read can be a problem with the enroll. Any way all info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are many people here who like the e-roll, so I won't bash that as a choice.

However, I think you will probably be happier in the long run with something like an eGo 510 kit.

Do you have a B&M (retail store) nearby where you can look at this stuff in person?

The eroll is an automatic (turns on automatically when you inhale) so it's a little bit more like a real cigarette.

Although this might seem like a plus, most people migrate relatively quickly to a manual (you push a button while inhaling) because it gives you more control over the vape. Also, a 510 setup will let you try different types of heads (clearos, EVOD's protanks, drippers, cartos, cartotanks, etc) whereas with the eroll you can only use the cartridges.

As I said earlier, many people do like the erolls, but some find they don't produce enough vapor.

Also, they charge differently; with an eroll you have a PCC; with a 510 you charge the battery separately (which is why it is good to have 2 or more batteries!).

Browse this site, visit a store if you can, and good luck on your vaping quest!

I do use cigalikes and have tried almost all that exist...well almost all the automatic ones that I am aware of. I usually use a Provari but I do use cigalikes. I was very disappointed with the eRoll, I was going to make a video of me smashing them with a hammer but instead gave them to another member. I am not 100% happy with any cigalike but the one that comes the closest to making me happy is the V4L Titan. It is also one of the most expensive ones. Cigalikes might make up 5% of my vaping usage. just a guess.

One difference is the eRoll is a regulated 3.7 volt battery which will provide a consistent experience until it needs a recharge. A lot of the complaints about small cigalike batteries is they start out great - and after the first 10 drags the experience begins going down hill as the voltage drops.

Don't know where you are looking so far but take a look at Cignot.com for all the Joyetech options out there for the eRoll and cigalikes with PCC cases.

If you are thinking about an eroll -- you're probably thinking about portability and the small form factor/reminiscent form factor. I would instead suggest an itaste vv v3 or itaste mvp v2 as a great place to start. I'm a recent convert myself, and started on an ego battery (which is essentially an upgraded 510), but quickly moved on after that, and in retrospect, wished I could get my money back from the ego batts. I really like the itaste vv v3, as it is not much bigger than a 510, adds ego threading, and has vv/vw and a passthrough connector, which also happens to be micro usb -- the same as most non-apple phone chargers. Passthrough (or semi-passthrough as I guess this is) just means you can use it while it's charging. The problem you will run into with a 510 is having to charge it during the day, or have multiple batteries -- charging a 510 cannot be accomplished while it's being used, and requires a proprietary charging cable, and the included ones are usually painfully short.

MVP 2.0 is also a great choice, as although it is rather large compared to what you've been considering, it also has a comparably massive battery...2600mah will keep you vaping for 24 hours for sure, and maybe 48+ depending on your vaping habits. Also adds the functionality to be able to charge other devices off your battery, which, if useful to you, takes away some of the sting of carrying a small brick in your pocket. It's not that big...about the size of a pack of cigarettes, but about an inch narrower -- just pretty heavy.

Just better performing devices which give you some room to grow. Pair the itaste vv with a protank 2 mini, and you're off to a really good start. itaste vv v3 can be had on ebay for just over 30 bucks shipped, and the mvp about $46, which includes tanks, and everything you need to get started (except juice of course).

With the e-roll or 510, you're going to hit the ceiling for usefulness and flexibility very quickly...with the devices I suggested, you can get a pretty darn good vaping experience for awhile before you might get the urge to start splurging on fancier stuff. I really believe the mvp 2.0 is a great place to start, and an unbeatable value.

When I first started ecigs I tried most of the cigarette sized products out there at the time. My favorite was the V2 followed by the Eroll. The Eroll was really nice in that the charging case is small enough to be pocket friendly and the charging time was short enough that you were not left smokeless. The V2 had better flavor and vapor production, but the downside was hastle in filling cartomizers. V2 batteries are larger and they made 2 sizes.

If you stick with ecigs, you will probably move up to the larger batteries like the Ego type. If so, be sure and get a variable voltage with as large a capacity as you are comfortable carrying.

In the end, the biggest challenge to a satisfying experience with vaping is finding the atomizing device that satisfies your expectation and then the ejuice you are happy with. Batteries are just that with the main choice being adjustable voltage or straight mechanical.

Hey I am definitely not an experienced vaper, but i did buy both of these products when i first started about a month ago

I started off with the 510-t from Joyetech. Its very stylish and u get both the small and XL batteries in the kit.. the problem i had with the 510 is that there was A LOT of leakage where the tank meets the atty.. i was sick of it leaking all over my pockets i went ahead and bought an eroll and gave the 510-t to my brother.

I like the eroll much much better.. it has better flavour and Throat hit then the 510-T. i wanted the cigalike ecigs as well cause i don't sit there vaping at my desk at work nor do i do it at home. i go outside for "smoke" breaks.

the only thing i found about the eroll is the battery does not last long at all.. i am not a heavy vaper and it does last me most of the day but it cuts out when i am walking from work to the train station. you can get a good 45mins of vaping as i did this over the weekend. On my drive to my hockey game i vaped in my car for the whole trip and it died just as i got to the arena. but again u always have the PCC to charge it and the charge the backup

I am thinking of getting a Kangertech Evod Kit but probably will use this more in the summer when i can sit outside during smoke breaks instead of taking a few drags and go inside cause it's -30 outside!

here are my final thoughts
510-T:
Pros:
- nice build
- longer battery then eroll
- can use different cleros etc.

cons:
- LEAKAGE
- muted flavour
- XL battery is a little long

eRoll:
Pros:
- nice and small
- nice TH for the size
- not as muted flavour although there is probably some
- PCC comes with unit

Cons:
- short battery life
- small tank
- no parts to upgrade

The eRoll is one of those devices I would liked to have bought, but never got around to it.

What puts me off the most is not the small capacity or the relatively weak vape compared to 9 watts on a mod, but the Joyetech atomizer system. I thought it was terrible on all the ecigs I tried. It would seem unlikely that it's great on the eRoll when it's not really good enough on all the other Joyetech models.

Hi Benjamin and welcome to ECF. Most of us started with cigalikes, so I understand exactly how you feel, but truth be told, no metal battery will feel exactly like a superlight paper cig. Do you have a brick and mortar store nearby? If so, I suggest you pay them a visit and look at what they have.

My personal opinion is that any benefits you gain from using a cigalike are far outweighed by the convenience and performance of not so much bigger, variable voltage eGo-class batteries. Twist, Vision Spinner, iTaste VV V3--they are all good. Have you actually held one in your hand?

However, if your heart is set on a cigalike, I'd probably go with a 510 battery myself--you'll have many more choices of toppers and if you get some nice, low resistance atties, you should be all set, at least for a while. Like other have already said, e-Roll comes with proprietary threading so you'll be limited to their heads.

Being that I am in Australia could anyone suggest a good place for me to purchase the enroll from. I have found 1 aus store that still stocks them and the price is $69 aud. I wonder why no one in aus stocks them anymore

Perhaps they never did? In theory, these should only be available from authorized Joyetech dealers.

For $69 AUD when you tack on international shipping costs I'm not sure you could get a better price than that off the island.

Alas! Sad but true....

I love my Emini (Ovale branded version of Eroll) but I mainly use it out in public because I'm not comfortable using the much bigger (by comparison) ego twist and clearomizers out where people wouldn't understand what it is. My only complaint really is I can't change flavors spur of the moment like I would like to. I find it makes for good flavor and vapor.
