I see a lot of vendors only offer one type of shipping... USPS Priority

If given the option I always choose plain old first class because priority never gets to me any sooner. 90% of the time it takes three days no matter if its coming from New York or California.

Priority is just a scam IMO to get people to pay more money for nothing.

Even if it is just out of principal it would be nice to have the option. Especially with small orders... if I buy one $10 dollar bottle of juice its a PITA to have to pay another 5 bucks for shipping.

Probably the main reason why is because of confirmation of receipt.

First class doesn't really provide that as far as I know and many people could claim that the package was never delivered just to get freebees or to deny payment.

it would be nice. I know what you're saying.

There are a couple of vendors that do offer what you are asking.

Suppliers can, and sometimes do, ship in Priority Mail boxes. Thus, they don't have to purchase padded envelopes, tape, labels, etc.

They could offer free shipping. One would assume they would factor the shipping fee into the selling price. It is very rare that I find "Free Shipping" that is really free.

I would like to see suppliers have a clear statement about their shipping fees on their websites. I don't like getting to the final credit card confirmation and Then Seeing the shipping charge. I want to know right up front what suppliers are charging for shipping. But that's just me.

Actually the main reason vendors use Priority, is because of the free shipping boxes, no flimsy envelopes or anything.

My gripe is when people charge you 7 dollars for first class shipping.. not gonna name names lol.

Ohhhh, I know who you are referring to...the name ends in EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Sorry, I hope I don't get in trouble on that one...I didn't actually say the name.

Shipping is always going to be the limiting factor on your true savings, so agree that it should be as up front as possible. Have seen a few vendors who have the 3.99 first class listed on single bottles/etc, but mainly focus on condensing orders to get enough bang for my buck. Even first class adds considerable amount to a small order and orders add up quickly if you dont think ahead.

If you want a small sample order from someone not offering the cheaper option you could always email them and see if you can get them to ship it cheaper. Main gripe I have about vendors and shipping is I cant find that one vendor with everything I need so instead of one shipping charge I can count on two maybe three if I'm not careful.

I don't know that you can say the boxes are free. Included in the postage price, yeah. Thing is, it's just a lot more convenient to use the flat-rate boxes. No messing with weighing anything. But if you were to buy mailers in bulk, they'd be extremely cheap. I bought a 10-pack recently, and it came to something like 50 cents each or so. Even buying them singly, you can find them for around 67 cents. And a bit of juice will be less than $5 to ship. Note that Super-T charges $1.25 always for shipping drip tips, but then he knows that postage will never be much more than that. I've sent people juice, and the most I've paid in postage is $1.33. Hard to guess how many ml of juice would come to more than $5 shipping, but that's again the beauty of the $5 flat-rate box -- if it'll fit in the box, you're good, and the convenience outweighs messing with having to weigh all your orders.

Hey MsRoulette -- Imma gonna report you for that! :D JK ;) (And you aren't the 1st to mention it. Oh, I think you might have been in that major <COUGH> thread in his forum?)

In our experience regular 1st class mail is very 2nd class ( you never know when it will get there ! )then we got complaints about it taking to long so ??

We ship Priority with other options ( we dont sell juice or many really low cost items ) Priority will tell you when it shipped 1st class will not and it cannot be tracked ( dosnt work anyhow )
Remember this is the US Post Office .

Anyhow that is why we use Priority vs 1st class 95% of the time

We ship priority, and it is clearly stated on our website, not just at checkout, but by following the "shipping and returns" link right on the homepage. We do this for all of the reasons mentioned-- tracking, not needing to individually weigh each package, good sturdy boxes. It is reassuring both for us and the customer to be able to check tracking.

However, we are always easy to get in touch with by email, and if someone asks us to ship first class on a small, light order, we are happy to oblige. In fact, we have emailed customers to ask if they would prefer that we ship first class (and refund their card the difference) when the person bought something very small and very light, such as one pack of menthol crystals. I wouldn't want to ship a large order first class because I want to be able to verify for sure whether or not it was delivered, or where it ended up, in case there was a problem. Anything over $99 is free.

I would prefer UPS or FedEx but figuring out the cost would be a nightmare, trust me I've done this for a company before.

I guess its just me but I don't mind shipping charges as long as they are under $10. I'm more insulted by companies that charge over 15% more than others carrying the same product.
