Ok I'm not normally this stupid but apparently the excitement of starting over into vaping with my just received new provari and some ridiculously delicious juice samples from Virgin Vaper took a bite out of my brain.

I put a Vision clearomizer in my provari, admired it then took it off to fill. I couldn't get it off the adapter though. And it was my only adapter! In the process I ran it under hot, then cold water to loosen the threads, which ruined the vision but I did have extras of those. After multiple tries, I ran to the store to get some WD 40. Still no joy. I looked closer at my other new visions and, well, the part I thought was one half of the ego adapter is ...erm...the base of the vision. So, just so you know - that base is definitely positively unremovable. Yeah, the adapter unscrewed just fine. Problem is that my last ditch attempt to unscrew what I thought I needed to unscrew involved WD 40 so i wondered - will that affect the ability of the unit to send the volts up to the atomizer?

Thanks from a very sheepish hoping-to-be-a-vaper

Oops! If you got WD-40 on that clearomizer, consider it trashed. WD-40 is nasty enough smelling in liquid form...imagine what it would do if you inhaled any of it--ant the wicks most certainly absorbed some. It might be educational to dissect that clearomizer, to see how its assembled, and where clogs might form.
You will still need to clean *all* the WD-40 residue off of anything else you use, for the same reasons. I hope others chime in here too...I'd soak the adapter in alcohol for a few minutes, shake out excess, wipe dry, and repeat that sequence a few times using clean alcohol each time. Then let dry overnight. if you can still smell any WD-40 on it, repeat a few more times with the alcohol cleaning. The WD-40 won't bother the electrical properties, but is along the lines of gasoline+paint-thinner+machine-oil.
I wouldn't want to drink or inhale any of it.

Did you get any WD-40 on the provari?

Oh, thanks. The clearomizer is definitely trashed - i got it wet inside, and sorta .. squeezed it with the pliers, so i planned on dumping that. Nothing on the ProVari, thankfully - just on the adapter a bit.

I'll do the alcohol washes on the adapter then and hope for the best. I did order some replacement adapters just in case, but wanted to try my ProVari with a Vision thing over the weekend.

I'd give it a nice vodka bath. That's just me tho :D

The 'WD' in WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement", and is intended to keep the water from wetting anything. Then the other chemicals can work on loosening things. Since most vodka is around 80 proof (40% alcohol, the rest water) it may not be the best choice here. As long as you let it all dry out, standard 70% rubbing alcohol (30% water) might be better. I use 190 proof (95% ethanol) Everclear. I happened to be traveling near a state where you can purchase it, so made the 10 mile detour to procure some. Used it on tobacco pipe stems, for a thorough cleaning, as some residue might remain after cleaning, They claim you can drink this stuff, so I thought it safe enough to use on my pipes. I'm about 1/2 way through a 375 ml bottle, and I've had it for 5 years now.
