Hi all,

I'm been a smoker for the pass 20 odd years, and finally took it upon myself to start exploring the possibility of completely quitting this habit.

After much research, i jumped in and ordered my first starter kit (kGO), a couple of cartos and a DCT. I started with juice from hangsen and started to like it. then i ordered even more stuff and got my friends to try it out as well. and all this in a short span of 3 weeks.

Now i've cut down to 1 pack of analogs in 2 days, and 2ml of juice daily. i just hope that this doesnt just turn out to be a long term replacement for analogs.

any advise from fellow forumers would be great!

Welcome to the ECF! That's great you want to quit those analogs, and nothing wrong with cutting back while you vape, if that works for you. As far as being a replacement for analogs, that is your choice. Some people have turned this into a pretty good hobby, while others just want to use this to keep them off of the analogs, then have a goal of quitting smoking or vaping all together. I quit smoking a year ago, and I have been vaping since I quit. My goal is to soon give up vaping. It might be next week or next year, but, just knowing vaping is better than smoking, it makes that choice easier.

Welcome all you noobs!! I've been vaping for almost 9 months and have no plan to stop. If not for this, I'd still be smoking. After trying absolutely every method out there to quit (unsuccessfully I might add).. vaping has kept me off those nasty things far longer than any other quit I've tried. Why give it up? It isn't the nicotine that's killing you anyway. Keep reading you guys... there's much to learn here :2cool:

Hi all,

Welcome from another newbie. What worked for me was carrying the analogues around with me but vaping in preference. I stopped carrying them around in less than a week and had stopped smoking after two days. But it meant I did not stress about not smoking - instead I focused on enjoying vaping. I do vape more than I smoked but my health is rapidly improving.

IMHO cutting down is a great achievement just keep reducing the stinkies and don't beat yourself up if you aren't immediately successful. After not smoking for a few days I had a drag on a friends cig and hated the taste. I haven't had the urge to taste one again - can't stand the smell already and it has been a month off them.

Having a good device you like and never running out of juice, batteries, atomisers etc is also very important - stock up! I have found the variable voltage devices combined with a good tank or atomiser are really good. I use Provari mini and an ego twist which is a good less expensive option. Using tanks stopped me faffing about filling carts all the time.

You don't mention the nicotine level of the juice you are using. I found 18-24mg juices suited me but I used to smoke 10mg equiv cigarettes - I also found that not using tobacco flavours except when urge hit helped. I Vape colas, fruits and menthols a lot!

If it is only a longer term replacement for the stinkies at least you will have better lung capacity, taste, sense of smell etc :)

Opinions vary but for me I don't care about how long I vape for - I do care that I no longer smoke!!

Good luck mate!

Welcome new folks! Hardiz, though new, gave good advice there. The absorption of nicotine through vapor is just a bit different than your lungs taking in smoke. We don't know exactly how much nicotine is absorbed through vapor, estimates have run somewhere in the 30-50% range for new vapers. SO, this means if it took you 5-6 minutes to smoke that cigarette, the "vaping equivalent" may be 15 minutes or so. What it took for me to give up the smokes was to ask myself if I needed one, or if I could vape through it. If I could vape for 10-15 minutes, the urge to smoke would go away. I kept the cigs on me "just in case" but found I was vaping through more and more of those times I would have lit up. Eventually, I went long enough that the taste of the cigarette became unbearable. I still can't believe that after more than 20 years, I don't want one. You'll get there if you work at it just a tiny but.... but don't stress out about it either. Enjoy vaping, and eventually the smoke free day will come.
