As I prepare for the arrival of my DIY supplies this question came to me:

The instructions I have read so far say to begin with the lowest recommended percentage of flavor, then adjust to taste. Should I allow a full cycle of steeping before adjusting the flavor? Say two weeks? Or should I adjust as I am making the original mix? It seems the latter could result in overly strong flavor.

You can test fruits in a day or two, deserts in a few days to a week, and tobacco's at longer than that. I will defer to one of the tobacco guys on testing for that.

Tobaccos need 2 - 5 weeks depending on the mix. single flavor dryer tobaccos usually 2 weeks RY4's or complex mixtures with 3 or more flavors 4 - 5 weeks. The previous tip to mix several samples at different percentages is a very good suggestion. To speed up steeping you can use a thurmos cup and fill with hot water and drop in your test sample bottles and wait until it cools to room temperture. Remove and shake really well. Then repeat the process 2 more times. It's not as good as letting it sit for weeks but it does the job to get the mix to a reasonable vaping point.
