Yeah, it didn't for me. The initial aches and discomfort wore off the 3rd day and I just woke up wanting to vape instead of smoke.

I hear ya. Everyone's experience is different. I brought home my starter kit, eGo-C tank system, and didn't have another cigarette for four or five days. Then I started smoking a couple a day, then a few a day. After another week I weaned back down to vaping only and smoked only two cigs in the next couple of months. No cigs since then.

It took me almost a year to really know that I was past smoking. By that time I had been vaping zero nic juice for months. Since then I've been in a car with three people smoking, I've been really stressed, I've forgot my vape and had nothing to suck on for a day and I've been bored silly and I've not smoked. I am at the point now where I'm pretty sure I can have a smoke if I want one and it won't pull me back in, but I just don't want one.

The interesting thing is I really don't think the quality of my vape hardware or juices made much difference in this process. Now if I had started with stuff that just didn't perform at all I'm convinced I would not have got over the hump at the beginning. But I really think if I had not discovered anything better than the eGo-C hardware I would probably have realized the same outcome.

Of course, as always, YMMV ;)

well, I quit cold turkey for five years, and STILL went back to smoking,,,,,,,,,,,so relapsing DOES happen.

I quit for two years and went back, but e_cigs weren't available then. I still get the urge though. My life is entirely too stressful.

But I'm specifically talking about vaping, not quitting cold turkey. Maybe it's just me but I quit because smoking is pointless compared to vaping. I didn't want to quit per se nor did I have plans to. Vaping tastes better and gives you a better sensation with the right juice.

But again, maybe it's just me.

I quit because I like to be able to breathe and now I can.

Yup. I've tried the cheap disposable ecigs and they did basically nothing for me. When all my friends and coworkers eventually started vaping I was very skeptical. But I did my research and started with an ego twist + PT2 and some nasty local juice that had a chemical taste to it. Even with that nasty juice it totally curbed my cravings. Fast forward 15 days and I now have 2 ego batteries, 3 aspire tanks, 3 kanger tanks and more toys on the way!

I agree with this 100%. I use cheap egos 99% of the time and am perfectly content with them. Heck, the day I tried an ego was the last day I had a cigarette. I loved to smoke - wasn't trying to quit - it just sorta happened. (I'm still a bit in shock over how easy it was.)

I think a lot of people get sucked into looking for the 'perfect vape'. They spend lots of money finding the *perfect* setup and *perfect* juice. But it's tilting at windmills - nothing is *perfect*.

I love the form factor of the EGO battery. It is small and light and simple. I just do not like that it is nonrenewable in the sense that when it dies it is tossed out. With the pending FDA garbage and no one knowing what will be done as it is fought in courts I wasn't comfortable with that. I wanted something I had a prayer of keeping going for many years without outside parts. Hence I made the move into Mechs and rebuildables. Were it not for the FDA crap I would probably still be happily using EGO batterys 99% of the time.

i wanted with my whole being to quit for over a decade. tried and tried again only to fail.

a friend turned me on to a cigalike. chain vaping that gave me a serious urge to chain smoke as soon as i put it down. it was disgusting to boot.

a friend turned me on to an ego. chain vaping that gave me a serious urge to chain smoke as soon as i put it down. surely the flavor he preferred didn't help much, but i don't think was the problem.

decided i didn't want to quit. just wanted something to cut cravings in the house. knew i needed something with good delivery (not tiny transparent puffs of long, long soft draws.)

got a VW, 18650 batts, a few heads and an ego.

had 13 cigs in the first couple weeks. down from 2 cartons a week. haven't had one since. though... no matter what i do, i don't have the patience for the ego. it just sits. wife puffs from time to time, but for the most part, it's bound to the drawer.

without decent power delivery and high nic, i'll be back to cigs. period.

tldnr; tried cigalikes and egos. knew they woultn't cut it. didn't want to quit. no pressure. bought VW and serious equipment and haven't smoked since.

Another point to note is that someone who relapsed to smoking is unlikely to be active in this forum. (Obviously it's not impossible but relatively unlikely. Just like it's unlikely that people who dislike e-cigs would hang out in this forum.)

I was thinking along the lines of someone started vaping came to ECF made some good friends but then started smoking again but still stops in to say hey to their friends.

Maybe I am taking your post the wrong way but your a pretty negative person. :(

Sucked into looking? Really? I am just shocked that a Vaper said that.

So if a person trying to Vape for the 1st time, say they try a $5 want to be e-cig with some rotgut nasty tasting juice in it, he should give up if he don't like it? Because there is no Perfect setup for that person?

Sorry I disagree with that, well with what all you said.

There is the Perfect Mod and there is the Perfect juice.
If a person finds a Mod and Juice that not only stops them from smoking, but they don't even think about it again. And that setup even goes as far as bringing that person happiness and enjoyment, well I would call that their Perfect setup. Wouldn't you?

As far as eGo type e-cigs goes, well I am glad to see they work for some people, but they don't work for everyone.
And I can say for a fact that with just a eGo type e-cig would of never ever worked for me.

I found my setup, will that stop me from buying more? Hell No! Why, well I guess the honest answer would be, I like my Toys.:)
Will I buy eGo types? Yea, I got 3 yesterday. Oh and only 2 still work after a few hours. :glare:

I found my perfect mod and topper REO + RM2.

As for perfect juice well I DIY no worries if one doesn't work I can pick up a few more flavorings which I can later use in cooking if they don't work out.

Right now perfect juice is a DIY Mint Candy. 2 months ago it was a DIY Juicy fruit. Tomorrow it might be something else.

Sucked in? Only in the sense that I got sucked into a hobby I am really enjoying. I am well into the saving money category at this point. Having fun. Most important I AM NOT SMOKING.

I say I just started vaping a few weeks ago cause I just got into mods a few weeks ago. A few years back I tried the BluCig and was totally disappointed. Went back to analogs in a month. Kept slowing down and then picking up on analogs but really started up bout 2 pks a day driving semi trucks. Just pure boredom and trying to stay awake. Not to mention HAVING to smoke when i had a few beers. But last month I had a trip to the ER and Doc said if I didn't quit smoking that it was just a matter of time...that's all it took for me. Been smoking for almost 20yrs and put them down for a mod. Got a KTS tele kit and it was better than Blu... But wasn't the same as analog. Then tried the Vamo...was a good mod and liked it a lot but it broke in 3 days. So went to the vape shop and tried out almost everything they had to offer. Ended up with a Provari...wasn't concerned with the cost...it really vapes well and the warranty and durability are a BIG plus!!! I'm done with analogs and really don't care if I gotta spent the $$$ to find something that works for me to keep me off them. But like some of y'all have said before...ya gotta want to quit before anything will work. Doesn't matter what kind a tank, mod, battery...its just the WANT to quit and then finding what works for u. I'll find out soon enough if the 'awesome durable Provari' lives up to its name...but as I write this...I've been vaping on this mod all day, the battery light is blinking and shows 3.3v charge left, and its still hitting like when I dropped a fresh new battery in her this morning. Time will tell. On another note...really like this forum. Lotta cool folks on here with a ton of knowledge!!
