my hairdresser friend says that most people produce around the same amount of oil. however, unlike thick hair, fine hair is highly prone to being "greasy", simply because the oil can't be adequately absorbed...she says it's like comparing a rag mop with sparse fibers to one with dense fibers...the sparse one will start dripping upon mopping up very little liquid -- whereas, the dense one can absorb several times the amount, with no dripping.

she also said that although fine hair is also highly prone to damage from bleaching, if done correctly, the damage will be minimal, and that the minimal damage is actually beneficial -- because the extreme dryness that bleaching causes helps to improve the ability for fine hair to adequately absorb oil.

about 7 years ago, i put her claims to the test with my super fine hair, and holy carp, she was right...i went from having to wash my hair twice a day, to being able to go 3-4 days between washes, without any greasy look or feel...

ever since i started vaping, however (it's been almost 2yrs now), i noticed that i can now only go 1-2 days between washes. but still, it's a whole lot better than twice a day!

Since I have curly hair, naturally dry curly hair that I flat iron so that I don't have curly hair :lol:, my hair normally never gets greasy. Now that you mention it, normally when I flat iron my hair I can go days without shampooing. Seems as though I DO need to shampoo sooner......interesting. Could the fact that our water intake has increased have anything to do with it also? Hmmm Summertime I usually just let it do it's curly thing, I will have to pay attention to how it is when summer rolls around again.

Interesting thread Rose! :)

I haven't noticed any change but then I have enough hair to cover three heads according to hair dressers. Also, I don't use any hair products and use special hard water shampoo as we have a well in the southwest where ground water is naturally hard. It is softened but we have spells when its harder than other times. I wish I DID have your problem though as this arid climate tends to dry hair.

Ooooh girl Paul Mitchell can't even help me.

Lol sorry I had to.
ROFL :lol::lol::lol::lol:

I habitually wear wigs.
I have not noticed anything different about the feel of the hair..no tackiness or dullness.
I vape 50/50.
I don't even notice it picking up any smells from vaping at all.

EDIT: What I DID notice is that my natural hair is in much better condition since I started vaping...not as much is coming out and it seems to be a bit thicker *shrugs shoulders*

I have naturally curly hair: 3a/3b w/low porosity, medium density, baby fine, long, (to my waist), and mostly silver in color. I found that prior to my starting to use low sulfate and no sulfate shampoos, (which was months after I began vaping), I had to shampoo my hair more frequently - ie: 3 to 4 times a week, vs 1 to 2 times per week now. I think I had to wash it more often because I was stripping all of the good oils out of it causing my scalp to freak out and produce ever more sebum. Perhaps instead of using that stripping clarifying shampoo on your hair, you might want to try some low, or no sulfate shampoos on it and see if the situation improves.

since im bald by choice take my 2 cents for what its worth.

I was on the swim team throughout high school we stricyly used infusium shampoo and conditioner to keep the chlorine at bay. worked wonders. Additionally i can say that i know a ton of people that use "mane and tail" shampoo. You can get it at tractor supply stores in the horse department.
