A question for the tech savvy

So, hubby works at different job sites and usually leaves his stash in his truck all day. He told me this afternoon that his batteries are dying rather quickly. Is there a connection between the batteries dying and the fact that they sit in his truck all day in the heat?

It's been pretty hot here for the past couple of days, so I'm guessing that the temperature in the truck in a parking lot is getting well above 90 degrees. Anyone ever had a problem with this before?

Ms. Rappel how hot does it get in his truck? As Genuinefraud sir said, high temps are not good for them at all....

Ms. Anita inside a car is much hotter than at the beach...

going out on the beach is probably fine, but if you have a battery inside a truck with the sunshine beating down on it, that battery might be reaching a really high temperature that is sustained for hours, and that can be bad for the battery.

If you are taking your battery to the beach, you might wanna put some sunblock on it

It gets hotter than hades in his truck. I'm not sure if hades is on the farenheit on the celsius scale, I only know I could probably bake potatoes in it.
I don't have an actual reading, Morandir, but it does get up there. The truck is in the sun and most of the job sites are hospitals, so it's all sun, lots of asphalt, and not an oak tree in sight.

Anita, you can get some of those cute little drink umbrellas for your batts. That should keep 'em safe. And I'll make you some little lounge chairs out of matchbooks. Dang, it must be close to quittin' time, I'm gettin' a little slap-happy. I need a beer!

I brought my vapor king e-cig to the beach a few weeks ago... and accidently dropped one in the sand.. i panicked for a moment, but it was ok after i blew the sand off..

Rappel - what if you got him one of those insulated lunch box type of sacks. Even without an ice pack I think it might keep things cooler? Just a thought...

what if you put the batts in a lunch box in a ziplock with ice or those liquid filled blocks u can freeze. Might that help when on the job site? Maybe he can put a sandwich in there too

extreme cold is also bad for batteries of all kinds. A belt pouch for a leatherman-type tool holds regular batts quite well, and no one would ever guess his secret
