Interesting point, and one that I had never thought of. I have had the same batts in my VVG for several days now (I think I took it to work one day this week so far but have had the same batts in there since about last Saturday), and here are the results:

Top: 3.8v
Bottom: 3.8v

For comparison sake, I just meterd my next rotation of batteries. Both sitting at 4.16 currently. I will vape this box exclusively until tomorrow evening and report back with my findings.

Oh... the out of context satire dancing through my head reading this thread..... I need serious help

Yeah, OK. .... you'll have to wait 'til after my appointment. I checked my VA senior plan and they have proctologists which I understand are analists. Bein' the VA they probably have dentists givin' haircuts.

Yeah I just use the Mayan Calender & I incorporate the Drake Equation N = r* x fp x ne x f1 x fi x fc x L to solve for when I should throw my batteries out. I'm sure you can figure out the data to plug in. Its a very easy way of determining how to properly use the Reo Grand. Or i suppose you could buy a multibay charger and just keep the batteries together until they don't charge to 4.2 volts, but mehhhhhhh.

i'm just a dumb self-taught engimaneer. i've gotten by on observation more than theory.

i swap em because the top battery consistently drains far lower than the bottom one.

i dunno. maybe my voltmeter is picking favorites...

No, not an engimaneer, a scientist. Scientists go by what they observe, engineers go with what they were taught in school.

I am sorry if I came on the wrong way. I am not an expert on batteries, although I do know a lot about EE. I can't imagine why the top battery would discharge any differently than the lower battery would. It does defy everything that I think I know.

But if the top battery discharges faster, I'd really like to know why. It really shouldn't. I only put out my creds so that you would know that I'm not inexperienced in the field, enough so that I am bewildered that you guys consistently get those results.

I concede the point to the scientists who have done the measurements in the real world, but does anybody have a good explanation as to why?

i have no idea why. i remember reading about it on ECF in a few places before i ever got a Reo, much less a VVG. i didn't believe it either. it doesn't really make sense to me as well.

when i measured it i was draining both batteries down too far. now, i try to change them around 3.6V. i don't know if that had anything to do with it.

the Monkey knows better than to let his drain down too far, so it'll be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Although I use a marker to date all batteries, and mark sets, like 1a/1b, and 2a/2b, the ultimate easiest way to keep the discharge even on the batteries of a set is to simply switch their positions every ml vaping. I mean.......... how long does it take to do that????!!!!!! That way no keeping records. And put a piece of scotch tape over magic marker markings as it will rub off eventually.

THERE IS NO EASIER, LAZIER WAY TO DO IT. PERIOD.

With my first two sets of 18350's in my VV Woodvil I did not take time to mark them. I used them in sets because that is how it worked with only 4.

I finally bought another VV and more batteries. Two batteries died. Would not charge. Read lower than 1v.

I bought some more batteries. Marked them. Began to pay attention by metering them when removing them. The top was always lower.

Since I have been careful to keep them in sets and try to always rotate top and bottom I have not lost a battery.

One other thing, I always pull them before they discharge below 3.5. I do not let them run until the VV REO shuts down.

All I can say is if you don't think it matters then fine. If you are concerned it might then meter your batteries and see what you find.

Where was this info before I killed two sets?

I am much more careful now. I have been checking them often, since I usually go through 2 sets on the VV (in addition to 2 18650's on the Grand) per day.

Once the set was in play for a bit, they check evenly. For some reason though, when they were fresh, there was a difference between the top and bottom. I let mine run down to where the VV wouldn't fire and it kills them, so now I check them often, which led to the observation that new batteries will read different, old the same. (THANKS AGAIN SCOTT!) YMMV

I have no clue what I am doing, but haven't killed a set yet this week

ETA: just checked this set, both at 3.78

For what it's worth...I very rarely turn the voltage up on my VV, so I have been using 18650's and getting a full day to day and 1/2 vape

Thanks for this. I was wondering if using 18650s was possible. What's the highest voltage you go with the '650s?

The highest you can go is what the battery can deliver on its own. THe electronics do not have a booster circuit so you are limited to the batteries native power output. It would be the same as putting an 18650 in a mechanical mod as far as its peak power delivery.

jwat, I'd say get both or atleast a Grand plus RM2 and later get the VVG because even if you don't dig it, you can throw it up in the classifieds here on ECF for someone that will.

Funny story, when I decided on trying bottom juice feeders I pulled the trigger on a slightly overpriced heavily used Grand from the classys and after like a few hours of reading the OUT OF STOCK models at Reosmods, I got the only VVG left which was a silver-silver

and long story short, the Grand is still on the shelf collecting dust but it's been callin me, man. Calling out at me, with the Mark Bugs Chalice right behind it. Lotta enablers here in REOland brother so moral of the story is just get both, unless you're not a heavy vaperor then you'd want one of the mini's because of the tank size.

It's all about the vape budget hands, folks. Point is, s'long as it's a REO you just can't go wrong, na'mean?

Word!!!!!!

Ya know how we be, just keepin' it real yo. I'm loco and ain't no mexican. Plus SXD 'n darkzero's jig renewed my interest in the Grand and I got wire from my genny so it's just a question of time 'til I'm in your camp brother.

Nothing beats puffin on a VVG while fiddling with a Grand 'n coils. Well almost nothing, I guess you could have an extra Grand on deck.
