Ok since I have been using my ecig things have been sort of love/hate. However my biggest problem seems to be triggers. This is odd to me because, well I am still using a device that emulates smoking. I tend to want to believe the brain should say ok, I have my ecig and its ok without the trigger for analogs. Am I going about this completely wrong? I know this is all a enormous learning curve but somethings seem illogical to me to experience.

Many people have trouble with cig-a-likes. It may not produce what you need. I would suggest getting a good starter kit. Kanger Evod is a good one to start with or many go with Ego. E-cigs are different than smoking. It takes longer to absorb the nicotine. When triggers hit, vape more and it will get easier.

So the brain works a lot differently than we want it to sometimes. Even though the brain "knows" it is healthier to vape, the e-cig "simulates" the look and feel of a real smoke, and the body is getting the same amount of nicotine (sometimes more), there are a lot of other things in a cigarette that make somehow more "satisfying" for some people.

Some triggers are strong and evoke a very strong desire for the satisfaction that tobacco brings. There are many opinions on why this happens, but no one really knows for sure. Some people find that juices with WTA in them help with these exceptionally strong triggers and cravings. These are juices that contain more of the tobacco alkaloids than just the nicotine found in standard juices. The drawback is that these juices are usually quite a bit more expensive and harder to find, since they are made differently than regular juices. The other problem is that this doesn't work for everyone. The only way to know if it will help, is like anything else, order a bottle and try it for yourself.

I used to carry around a WTA juice tank, for those "just in case" times, and it did seem to help me. Of course, it could have all been in my head too, a placebo effect.

As always, YMMV!

Hi

It sometimes helps if you alter the situation, for example if your morning coffee is a trigger, try drinking your coffee in another place than usual - a different room, a different chair, etc. Driving is a big trigger for many people and it's hard to change the routine, but you can give it a try. If you usually listen to music, try NPR or talk radio; if you already listen to that, try music. Force yourself to sing along. It's sounds silly, but the point is to distract your brain and break the connection.

You didn't say if you are using a cigarette-style device, but as LD3441 posted, people have more success with a more powerful battery. The battery life is longer and you have larger vapor plumes. Think of it not as quitting smoking, but finding something you like better. It doesn't have to be a huge device, many of the eGo-styles are the size of a Sharpie pen. With a smaller battery, you lose the time they will last between charges, but you can have a second one charged and awaiting. That's why a minimum of 2 batteries is always recommended, so you can have one charging, while you vape the other.

Good luck to you!

I prefer a light trigger for my competition guns, but I stick to the factory trigger on carry pieces.

Oh, wait, nvmd.

Back to the topic at hand -

That was one of the biggest problems I had back when I tried using cigalikes to quit. They just weren't cutting it, for a variety of reasons. And I kept going back to cigarettes, time and time again.

Down the road a few years, I find I get a lot more assistance from a good setup. What "good" is I won't speak to, because it can be pretty subjective. Tastes, budget, access, and a lot of other things factor into what makes a "good" vape for every individual.

I will say that if your budget allows, and you find yourself struggling to stay away from the real thing, think about moving up from a cigalike, or maybe switch over to one of the higher-rated cigalikes.

The cigalikes don't do it for a lot of people - probably most people. I started there too but still wanted to smoke, even though the cigalikes were better tasting than a real cig. It took one of the basic eGo batteries to make the difference - and then it was almost immediate. And then I still had to get used to changing some things about my routine and how I used smoking as a timer, a time-filler, etc., etc. I still have occasional cravings at unexpected times but so far I get past them.

The last time I had a craving for a cig, I actually went back to one of my V2 cigalikes and puffed hard on it for about 1/2 hr. They actually taste and feel more like a real cig since I vape mostly sweet ejuice that tastes nothing like tobacco. That worked - by the time I put the V2 away, I felt almost like I'd actually smoked - and it was not particularly pleasant !!

Good luck to you. You probably had a love/hate relationship with your tobacco cigs too - I sure did!! Remember the reasons you want to quit!

Changing your routine is an all around solution for many lifestyle changes :)

Be aware of your "triggers" and face them...make your decision...do you want to smoke or do you want to vape ?

Get up, go walk out side - take a breath of fresh air...go get a glass of water...

You'll make it !

:)
