A question

A friend sent me a 5v 3aa box mod to help me out while my PV is being repaired. Funny thing is this thing wont shut off unless I use the master switch. On occasion the button switch will shut it down but then if you arent watching it it begins heating again.

What could be the problem?

Is an intermittant problem. which made me think the switch was sticking its one of those red and black rounded buttons.

It would be hard to diagnose without sitting in front of it with a multimeter. The likely problems are a sticking button, or a short in the wiring.

Take the batteries out, "thunk" it.... tapping the button. The buttons get little pieces of fried/zapped metal and fail. And the others are correct: check the wiring.

Also, juice makes buttons stick. Iso-alchohol swabbing can sometimes help. (let it dry). Toss it if it continues to fail, or at least replace the switch.

It could be a nc switch thats not closing properly all the time. Other than that can't say not knowing.
