One thing I experienced for myself and have noticed as a theme for us nubes is the overdose of nicotine when switching to vaping.

I have a ton of posts that I still haven't got to view yet, so I don't know if one exists already or not, but is there a post dedicated to nicotine intake for people new to vaping?

I ended up speaking to my Dr about my symptoms and he correctly identified it as nicotine overdoes. The fix was simple, take in less nicotine, but how to do that as a nube may not be so simple. Is there a medical site that would address safe levels?

Is there a consensus among the vets on just how much/often/concentration of nicotine to vape when you are starting out? Is there a caveat emptor sticky somewhere in the new member forum?

I think (but who know's?) that nicotine is more often the culprit for the really bad symptoms than a sensitivity to PV (?) And is there a way to distinguish between the two in a distinctive list-like way?

Thanks for your consideration.

I've (read), that one REAL analog contains anywhere from 0.8-1.7 mg of nicotine...so a whole pack would give you about 20-30mg of nicotine (possibly why it takes 1-2 packs a day to get what your body "craves"). And I've also (read), that every 20 drops equals 1ml of nicotine juice.

So...(my guess and correct me anyone if I am wrong here)..is that a whole 10ml bottle of 8mg would mean that the entire bottle contains a total of 80mg of nicotine...but if you vape up to 2ml a day (let's just say for example), then your total intake of nicotine level that you smoked/vaped equaled up to 16mg for that entire day...(again 1 pack of full flavored might be a little over 20mg)...so......................

Perhaps if you were a heavy smoker (1-2 packs a day), then my guess would mean that your body was used to getting up to 30-40mg of nicotine each day...whereas, if you are chain vaping on 24mg or higher, your body may be getting way too much..

Am I wrong? all these calculations have me confused too..lol

Hardly any doctors know much about vaping. There is one study that showed that vaping is much less efficient in getting nicotine into your system than smoking. Plus analogs have many other substances in them that your body will crave once you stop smoking. Based on the thousands of posts on this site on this subject, the fact that the majority vape 18-24mg nic strength liquid and no mass posts of nic overdossing over the last two years, I would not be too worried about it. But the best judge is yourself and your own body. You may be the one exception out of the thousands that vape 24mg liquid regularly and have done so for a year or more.

I hate to admit this, but I am not good with calculations, but i love the way your mind works.

I know I have very unique and often strange and unexpected reactions to chemicals. I understand this, and wouldn't mind being the only one reacting to e-juice nicotine concentration levels this way because the fix was quick and easy. But the more people who switch to Vaping, the more likelihood of others having reactions of various degrees.

You're calculations are correct regarding the amount of nicotine in a bottle of juice. The amount of nicotine one is getting through vaping, however, would be more of rough estimate. You're not going to take in every bit of nicotine whether you're smoking or vaping. I vape 18mg and go through anywhere from 3ml - 5ml/day, but there's no way that I'm getting 90mg of nicotine on a bad day. Some of it is lost when your exhale and some of it is immediately metabolized. How much really stays in your body? I have no way of knowing right now.

If you think about it, you could also have a bit of nicotine OD when smoking. I can think of many occasions when I smoked like a chimney, one cig right after the other, and got a headache and felt dizzy or nauseous. Those symptoms right there usually made me stop smoking, even if only for 15 minutes or so. The same thing happens when vaping. My general rule when vaping is to take a few drags and let my PV rest for about 15-20 minutes. When I'm at work I might wait longer or just go outside if the weather is nice (I'm allowed to vape at my desk if I want.)

Your body will let you know when you've had enough. You just need to a little closer attention until you get used to how vaping will affect you.

I read that if you smoked a certain level of nicotine in regular cigarettes, say you smoked regular marlboro for example, you should buy a lower nicotine level eliquid - say medium to low -- that way, if you vape alot, you won't overdo the nicotine levels. I am using 11mg, which the site where I purchase it calls "Medium." However, I have seen other sites call this level "low." However, I find that I am enjoying vaping tremendously, in part due to the huge FLAVOR. So I am thinking of going to 8mg ejuice in my next large order. I hope that helps :)

A lot of which nicotine level one should use is based on whether that person is feeling satisfied. If they still having cravings for cigarettes, then they might want to bump up the nicotine level. There really isn't a true correlation between what you smoke and the nicotine level you should vape. I smoked ultra light cigarettes, but I had to vape 24mg juice when I first started out. Now I'm vaping 18mg and if I go below that I get cravings again. I have a friend who smoked full strength Camels, but she can't vape over 12mg.

Yes, that is exactly what it turned out to be (ended up with a Dr's appointment) Sorry about not being so clear in that last post of mine. What I was trying to say was that I believe that there are far more people having reactions to nic OD than having a reaction to the PG.

i smoked Marlb Reds/50/day. when i started vaping, i used 16 mg cartomizers with %100 PG. I had sever reactions and thankfully, a clear headed member told me get thee to a dr. - which i did. So ...i went from 16mg to 12mg, problem solved.

Thank you for your concern.

Delilah718 ~ thank you for your help. It's exactly what i ended up doing and am considering stepping it down even lower with my next order too. I hope you find your enjoyment in lower nic doses. would you let up know?
