Jesus! what is it with people these days! A simple "I think you may be off in your calculations" followed by an explanation as to why would have sufficed. I hope she's ok and I hope after thinking on it a while she decides to come back. I don't get people these days. God forbid you be nice to someone who's made an innocent mistake. Grrrrrrr if the people that did that to her are on this board, then I respectfully request that they go hide under your troll rocks until they grow some common courtesy!

It's been going on for about a month for some reason, but the breaker was that SteelJan made a slightly flippant comment in her last review that a certain reviewer's (she didn't specify but everyone assumed she was referring to PBusardo) test box (that tests voltage output) wasn't accurate because the length of the wire inside the box probably added something like 0.5 ohms of resistance to the result. Technically that's only true if the wire he used had a significant amount of resistance in it (as opposed to copper or silver wire which add very little), but rather than simply pointing that out and disagreeing with her assessment, those needing firm insertion of the aforementioned sticks pounced right the hell on her and relentlessly harassed her in every way they could. It was all too much and the result was that SteelJan felt it necessary to leave the community. We can only hope it's just for a while, until the stickless trolls fade back into obscurity, but she's on medication and stress is not good for her health, so I can't blame her if it's permanent.

John Gabriel's Greater Internet .......wad Theory.

There are just those people whose otherwise suppressed ill-nature is allowed to surface in full bloom by the presence of anonymity and an audience. There's no useful answer to "why?", they're just wastes of perfectly good carbon.

Regardless of the anonymity of the internet, people need to self check themselves, surely if a fellow co-worker meant in every way possible to be helpful , and was incorrect never would an attack happen. I am all for going off on someone who obviously is a "troll".. but the worst of all of this that I have read/seen and took the time to look into... this.... this was a woman, who's only intent was to be helpful, and state something she thought was wrong.

TRYING to look out for the community in something she thought was incorrect. Why couldn't "these" people do it in the same manner back to her as she attempted... well all know why.. the are not of the same caliber of person.

I watched her videos and am sad she doesn't fight back. The Occupy, complain and destroy crowds are ruining every aspect of our lives. Being silent is not the answer, this is exactly what they wanted and they will now feel empowered to do it to someone else. Stand and fight back Jan, don't walk away, don't let the 35 y/o men in their moms basement beat you down.

Pretty much sums it up, dont ya think?

So I'm a little late on this one. I'm working full time and going back to school. I used to watch SteelJan's videos when I was trying out new things. I made my first pass through from what I learned from her and others. I thought her videos were intelligent, funny, and well put together. I'm sad to see her go and feel terrible about what happened to her. I hope she will eventually come back and that she knows there are more people that appreciate her and her work than there are trolls. I've never subscribed to her (or anyone) or posted on her videos, that's just not my thing. However I won't be silent about this. SteelJan YOU are one of my internet heroes and I appreciate you! :toast:
