I really miss Steeljan. I felt like I was just getting to know her--she even did a video directed at a question I had! I run a forum for my online game which has about 850k posts, and I can tell you that if we didn't moderate it and ban egregious posters, we would have reams of vitriolic trash that would alienate many users. (I assume ECF also has a good moderating team.) Part of the insanity on youtube is the lack of moderation. Some people believe they should have the right to post anything and then get on your case for "stifling" and "censoring" opinions. But I have no problem with stifling and censoring my own channel. But the bigger problem is even if you want to moderate your channel, there aren't enough tools (like IP bans, etc.) so people just make temp accounts and continue to harass. Fortunately, I'm small potatoes on Youtube so haven't had to deal with a**holes but I can only imagine how frustrating it would be.

Ah, well, I hope sometime in the future that Steeljan would consider at least opening her old videos back up. There's a lot of useful information and she is such a joy to watch.

A shame that things like Video reviews can not be posted to youtube with out Allowing Comments.

You can disable comments but part of the fun is getting comments and engaging in conversations. Also, trolls could still spam you with hateful messages which can take their own toll.

If I ever did a Video Review, which I don't think would, I would Disable Comments.

Seems like the Level of Hatred and Mob Mentality Diminishes Greatly when there is No Comments for People to Feed Off.

Sadly the internet age has spawned a whole new breed of bullies that can hide behind the anonymity of their keyboards. It's sad really, that such a wonderful medium and tool such as the internet can be used by some to spew hatred and evil just because they think they can do it without any repercussion. But they obviously don't know anything about Karma, and that is that someday down the road, their actions are going to come back and bite them in ....

The internet has been a great tool, a great advertiser and a giant demon to many. On the internet you can speak to millions of people at a time. This meansd you can spread words of wisdom or words of hate with a few simple clicks. What you have to rmeember on the internet is that are many more asshats that love to play pile on with little regard for other peoples feelings. They feel like because they arent in front of someone's face that they can be as rude and disrespectful as they want. People like this will get their just deserves. We only hope that their are people around to witness the great tragedy and revel abit in the pain that karma brings.

I dont know that I necessarily buy into karma in all the sense it was intended but do believe in principle you get what you give IN ALL ASPECTS. Good things come to good people in time. Bad things come to bad people int time. In the end when you are on your death bed and you reflect back on your life will you regret the things you did or did not do? Will people remember you for the noble person you were or will they have to lie because they knew nothing good of you?

I am no saint. I have my demons like everyone but, I also try to choose my words carefully and attempt to put the thoughts and feelings of others high on my priority list.

Wow, is is terrible news! I love, LOVE SteelJan! She is so cute and funny and down to earth and her videos are AMAZING and informative and helpful! It is so sad that losers have been hurting her and even more sad that her videos are now private :(. Who has been attacking her? Does anyone know? Is it vendors who got spiteful when she didn't recommend their products? Isn't there any way to report these people to YouTube, the police or whoever? I wish there is some way for us to actually HELP her!!!

Since I started vaping about a year ago and since I joined this community heavily back in september of last year, I've always felt a since of comradery. But learning about this filth makes me bow my head in shame! With out these videos and reviews I would have been lost in a world of garbage equipment and misguided beliefs. I'm sure we've all run across videos or reviews that we personally disagree with and done nothing more than proceed on to the next video. With every day that passes the behavior of the human race as a whole scares me more and more. The fact that some humans(not all) can become so ugly and so hurtful over something as insignificant as a video about an electronic cigarette scares the hell out of me! I wish jan the best and I commend each and every one of the people who have the courage to stand up, show their face, and share their opinions with the people who depend on it....... I APPRECIATE ALL OF YOU!!!

With a name like "Steeljan", it makes me think of Superman or "Woman of Steel" in Jan's case. It was kryptonite or cyber bullies that made her weak. But like every episode of Superman, the hero returns, stronger than ever. Her videos are priceless pieces of information that everyone should watch. The attention to detail & countless hours of editing & production she put into each and everyone aside from all the responses she answered has me figuring, it is just time until our superhero makes her return. She made it too much of an investment of her life to just stop, now. Nobody with the extreme passion that Jan possesses could ever quit in the middle of her journey.

I'm missing you Jan, but I know you will be back, stronger than ever.

A marvelous idea newq :) I never had the pleasure of seeing SteelJan's videos prior to all the fuss, and only became aware of her through vaporchase's rant against these bullies. I quickly looked her up, and was amazed with her humour, knowledge and overall love of vaping. Before I could watch all her vids, her channel was locked out.

Since vaping has also saved my life, and I treasure the reviews on vaping, I for one would not mind in the least paying for the priveledge. Youtube is all well and good, but maybe we need a dedicated service?

An interesting (that is, disgusting) wrinkle was that someone posted a comment on my video to SteelJan saying:

Is anyone up in youtube going to grow a pair but me? Boo fing hoo I don't get it. She dissed Pbusardo in saying that a long length of wire adds resistance, obviously pointed at him, he proved her wrong and slapped that bit$h down. She left. Too much estrogen up in teh vaping commuity alredy if you ask me, good riddence and we shud get rid of more. Peace out!

I deleted the comment within 15 minutes of his posting it (as soon as I got the notification of the new comment) because I won't let that crap stand, and it was an obvious and straight up troll attempt, but it's douchenozzles like that who are a pox on humanity, never mind this community. But this idiot will find no traction with me.

(Edit: Wow, (m)oron is censored?)

lol good one! Ok but what were they doing? Saying vaping was bs like we're they against it or ? I'm
Confused.

It's been going on for about a month for some reason, but the breaker was that SteelJan made a slightly flippant comment in her last review that a certain reviewer's (she didn't specify but everyone assumed she was referring to PBusardo) test box (that tests voltage output) wasn't accurate because the length of the wire inside the box probably added something like 0.5 ohms of resistance to the result. Technically that's only true if the wire he used had a significant amount of resistance in it (as opposed to copper or silver wire which add very little), but rather than simply pointing that out and disagreeing with her assessment, those needing firm insertion of the aforementioned sticks pounced right the hell on her and relentlessly harassed her in every way they could. It was all too much and the result was that SteelJan felt it necessary to leave the community. We can only hope it's just for a while, until the stickless trolls fade back into obscurity, but she's on medication and stress is not good for her health, so I can't blame her if it's permanent.
