I'm new to the electronic cigarette ...'world'. I've been trying to do a lot of research in regards to which kit I want to buy. It seems the more I learn the more questions I have and the information doesn't always appear readily available.

The more I read the more it seems like everything comes down to preference. I'm simply looking for complete overall quality and good customer service from the vendor. I'm in a tossup between M401, Joye510, Vapor King and maybe Dragon401. I'm not sure how to base my final decision, I just know I'm getting antsy to purchase something.

Please help me and ease my pain

Best quality and customer service from a vendor I personally have found is Trog and the Screwdriver. But my suggestion to you as a beginner is just buy a Dura-C, 510, Titan, Yeti or Versus as they are great for a beginner. Make sure you get the manual batteries as they give you more control as to vapor and throat hit. A kit with at least 2 batteries and 2 atties and some cartridges is the best for a beginner. Also pick up a bottle of liquid to top up and fill your cartridges.

Best of luck to you, and welcome to ECF.

Just do what most of us do, buy one of each! That way, you eventually will be able to give some advice to the next guy that says, "help me pick one!" That's usually how we discover the ones we like and the ones we do not recommend. Heck, some people do that with husbands! Most of the vendors you find here are highly rated in general, you can have problems with any device, so it's a matter of maybe how you want your PV to look, like a cigarette or not, so then there are the "modified" PV's. Then you want to figure out if you are a low volume smoker, for example, a PV with a smaller cartridge would be ok, or if you're going to replace a 3-pack a day habit with vaping, then would go with a larger capacity, like the 801, which as far as I know is the largest cartridge. There are 801 "mods" too, like the Janty Stick (I use one), which can also use smaller atomizers and carts. Of course the larger one would not need to be refilled as often (that's the idea, anyway). So I guess you have to look at your needs first, styles next. There are many photos of the different style in these New Members pages. Good luck,
and Welcome to ECF

Overall quality, great customer service, easy to start up with = Vapor King from Vapor4Life. If you have been reading for any amount of time, then you know the rest of my pitch and I will spare you the details. My summation: I own all of the rest (with the exception of a mod), 510, 801, 901, Lady Pipe, SE POS, and the Vapor King. I have not put the VK down since I got it and now am planning to put all my others up on the auction block. Seriously, good vapor, awesome flavor, easy to use, and a great vendor. I don't know what else to say about it. If you have questions, or think I am alone in this, spend just a few minutes on the Vapor4Life subforum - even the other customers are customer service oriented!

I am editing this to add links to two of my favorite posts on the topic, that do a much better job than I am doing for you right now.

Here is one from a fellow VK lover that pretty much chronicles my life up until the Vk.

Here is another highly enthusiatic one from a gal who has used a 510 until today.

Both come from the above mentioned V4L sub-forum.

There are lots of good quality suppliers on this forum at the bottom of the page. I have personnaly used My Vapor Store, Innovapor, Totally Wicked, Vermont Vapor and Cignot. I have not had a bad experience with any of them.

As in the previous post, lots of folks like the cartomizers like Vapor King. I haven't tried them, but no question they are more expensive than other options. Many folks love them and if money is not an issue, you might want to try them.

I use a 510 and it gives very good vapor and good TH. A bit on the hign maintenance side, but other than that, pretty good....

Well i am a relative newbie and I eventually plumped for a Titan 510 which is the same as a Joye 510 and a number of other models I believe.
It can be confusing when basically the same model is known under different names.
One of the main reasons I went for it was it seemed to be one of the most popular models, I deduced that from the number of posts about each model, rightly or wrongly. Another reason was it was not too expensive, another model I considered (the screwdriver) cost about 3 times as much.
It makes sense to me not to spend to much initially whilst you are still 'learning'. However if you have money to burn (or vape lol) go for something more expensive if you want.

What I would say though is that basically all the models do exactly the same thing, they vapourise eqliuid, and in that respect I think the strength of the eqliuid si the most important thing in the same way as the strength of a cigarette is the most important thing, basically all 'light' cigarettes are pretty much the same as all strong ones are. You won't notice much difference in switching brands of the same strenght but you will notice switching from strong to light a lot.

Other things which come into play are the how long batteries last and that basically comes down to the size of the battery. If you are going to use an external power supply (eg USB passthrough) batteries don't matter so much however my 510 requires a battery in the passthough, to my disappointment, but you can get one which has no battery (but they seem to be out of stock).
Also there is how long atomisers last might be an issue, this might depend to a certain extent on how you use it.

Furthermore it seems whatever you buy you will end up throwing away as it is composed basically of a cartridge, an atomiser and a battery all of which
require replacing to a certain extend. Certaintly the battery and atomiser wil not last forever and the cartridge is very cheap in it's unfilled form (it's basically a 'cap' with a bit of sponge in it which holds the eliquid).

One thing I would say with my starter kit is that the strongest liquid supplied with it was not that strong IMO only 16 or 18 mg I think, I think I really need a 24mg or more as I smoked a strong brand of analogues.

Anyway whatever you get basically has a limited lifespan (apart from the passthrough, if you get one), oh and you will have a charger too which should last indefinately, theoretically).

The main concern I have with mine is the strength of the eliquid, also it could produce more vapour, but using a higher voltage passthrough would increase the vapour production. Also with a higher strength liquid I expect I would 'taste' the vapour more. I did read hear my model produce a good vapour but it don't seem a lot to me really.

Also how you smoke them seems to make a lot of difference.

So in summary don't spend to much to start off with and as you have to throw mosy parts away eventually you can always try a different model then the main parts have expired so you won't 'waste' too much money if you don't like it.

Is the Vapor King from Vapor4Life completely unrelated to the Vapor King 510 on Electronic Cigarettes Inc.? I was looking into purchasing my first e-cig and had considered the Janty Dura-C but JantyUSA is currently out of the Dura sets and does not list when they will be back in stock. The VK 510 seems like it is essentially the same as the Dura, but different from the VK on Vapor4Life as it is a manual and doesnt use cartomizers. Is this correct?

Basically, if it has a manual battery and it does not use cartomizers, then it is not a KR808D / VK. Most commonly you will find manual batteries for 510, 901, and now I believe I saw some just recently appear for the M40x series.

I highly recommend the Vapor King or a KR808D from whoever you choose to purchase from. Great vapor, superb flavor, and in my opinion - unrivaled throat hit. Just a battery, and a cartomizer. Screw one on and vape that simple. Refilling is a snap if you choose to do so.

Take care,
- Hap

The Vapor Kings company is not related in any fashion to the Vapor King device or Vapor4Life. I know it is a bit confusing. The Vapor King site sells 510s, 801s, and 901s. The Vapor4Life company sells Vapor Kings (a variation on the Kr808) and GreenCigs (another cartomizer style device).

The Vapor Kings even have a sticky about this as the first post in their sub-forum. 510s are sold under multiple names, Jura being one of them, and it is offered in manual and automatic styles. The Vapor King device is only sold in automatic at the moment, though Steve at V4L is working on a manual. 510s use carts and VKs use cartomizers. There are other differences as well, the devices are not related in any way, the only connection is the names used by two companies. I just confused myself, I need more coffee. I do hope that helps though!

hehehehe! See you are now quoting me Phoenix! lol

I was going to add my 2 cents but I see it has already been added! If you want as close to an analog experience without the analog - the vaporking with the new Marlboro carts are as good as it gets! But the other flavors are just killer! Cappucino is my fave right now. The 16 Marlboro gives an outrageous throat hit in my opinion! I just can't believe how much better the VaporKing is then the 510!

Wish I had found this right off the bat, but even with over $400 invested in 510 supplies, I am happy I now found the right one!

Ahh, thank you.:) I had not actually gone to The Vapor King's website. The site I was referring to was electroniccigarettesinc(dot)com, but upon further inspection of the picture there, after reading your post, I see now that the "Vapor King 510" is just the Joye 510 offered from The Vapor Kings.

Whats the longer term cost difference like between using a VK with disposable cartomizers vs using liquids to refill 510 carts + the occasional accessory replacement? Im sure thats been probably been discussed before so if you can point me in the direction of a thread about it, it would be much appreciated.

The JOYE 510 kit from Rocky Mountain Vapor gets you all the stuff you need, go check out his site. He'll ship immediately and it's free because it's over $14 (the kit is $46.00). You won't be disappointed. I think the 510 is the perfect e-cig to start on, good vapor and a good throat hit. Good luck!

I don't know what teh cartomizers cost and how long they last but if you find that out you could compare it to $9 for 30ml of ejuice from heaven gifts for example. 30ml should last you from 2 weeks to a month and a half, depending on how much you vape of course. You can find better deals on juice than that in bulk or you can save even more on DIY juice. I've been using the 510 for three months and haven't lost an atomizer and only one auto battery.
