This is my version of a small carto pipe. The bowl is about 1 1/4" wide x 2 1/4' tall; and the pipe is about 4 1/2" to 4 3/4" long depending on what is on it.

This is made out of spalted peach wood, from an old tree that was cut down in the back yard a couple of years ago.
I put a green tint on it,to go with the green stem I used.

The top pic. is for a std. carto....The bottom pic. is for a mini v nova....i used a small wood donut on the stem for the nova, so I could use the same stem for both set-ups. The pipe uses a "E-Pipe mods" V-2 button. I am also useing a resettable fuse.."Mouser # 2920L300DR"...The pipe has 510 connector w/ 510-ego adapter for carto set-up.

This is really a test pipe useing the V-2 switch, I hope too do better next time....

Oh and....to all you forum members, ECF team, and to you too SmokeyJoe.... the very best year to you all...duckie...

I like your pipe. The green isn't quite my thing it still looks good. I'm getting ready to attempt one that is very similar. Got any tips? I already have the epipemods button.

gwb.....I apologize for not answering your questions sooner.....I have been out of town.

Has far as tips...I would get everthing I was going to use in the pipe...button,battery,connector,etc....and lay it out and measure everthing...When I decided what I was going to use, I drilled my holes in a 2x4, riped to 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 3 1/2".....to test what would work.....I had to make a couple of blocks, before I got what I liked....

I hope this answer's some of your questions....Use any or all of this, withever way you deside to get there...do what works best for you...
FYI....that magnet in the bottom of the pipe...is way too big...(3/4x1/16 or smaller would have worked), also I showed a e-go connector, thats not what I used pipe I made......That why I said lay everthing out ....to get some idea of what to do.....

Very nice work on your pipe.

I'm going to try my hand at a pipe soon as well.

I bought some Redwood Burl a few months back.

I love that we can use woods for an e-pipe that you could never use for a traditional pipe.

Thanks Underwhelmed...That Redwood Burl will look nice....I have some Maple Burl that I'm going to try...

Dickie. Thank you so much. Your tips and pics really cleared up some stuff for me. I greatly appreciate your being so open with your information. This is going to help me a lot. Thanks again.

Your welcome...gwb....I have got most of my knowledge from the other good members of this forum, and have simply added their ideas to my ideas, to make my pipes, just as you will take my ideas and add yours to make your pipe.

gwb....Another good good place for information is on YOUTUBE "Making tobacco pipes" (I like the ones with more doing and less talking).

I will be looking for your thread on your pipe mod.........duckie.

Duckie just noticed this morning when I was reading your reply that I misspelled you name in my last post. Sorry about that. I was using my iphone and sometimes on the small keyboard I get the wrong letter typed in and don't catch it. OOPS!! Again thanks for the info and like you said I'll combine yours with mine and come up with my own thing. Once I get started I'll be sure to post some pics and progress reports.

I have been thinking about doing a pipe mod, and even have a cheap tobacco pipe on order. Before I ever saw your mod, I had a similar concept in mind in regards to putting on a 510 connector at the pipe bowl. I understand your mod, except for the pipe stem.

In E-cigs, there are a number of styles of mouth pieces, although there seems to be some standard "drip tips" so people can replace their stock tip with custom ones. I realize these drip tips come in a few standard model connection types. But, is there such a thing as a pipe stem adapter?

I see others have asked about pipe stem adapters on other threads, so perhaps this is a need that has not been met by commercial sites selling e-cig parts.

Joe......For a pipe stem and/or an adapter try Epipe Mods.....Or Cherry Vapes?....I believe they make those for Epipe Mods....

As for myself.....I turn my own...using tobacco pipe stems that I buy....."Pipe Makers Emporium"....

You would have to have some kind of lathe to do this....I make each stem for the pipe I'm making.....

The small part (see picture) is same as a 510 drip tip...the large part is to fit inside the cone I will use on the pipe...

Does this help?

duckie...........

FYI.....If you are buying a tobacco pipe to mod ...You can maybe sand/crave the stem down to work...i know other's have done this.

edit....I see Tezcat answered your question on the adapter ...Thanks Tez...pipe makers Emporium...sells lucite (called "fancy") stems that would work with that adapter....about $4-$6 bucks

Pipemaker's Emporium is where I get all my pipe stems -- they're great to deal with, and you really can't beat the prices! Your turned tenons look great, Duckie! I don't have a lathe so I bought some cheapo straight-sided delrin drip tips and I was going to drill some large-tenoned stems and epoxy the drip tips in... I'm not sure what's safe for epoxy, so I bought some that's intended for use in fish tanks, figuring it's probably safe since it doesn't kill fish and coral.

Nice work on the pipe, by the way!

Your right about Carolyn being nice people...Tez....I thought about epoxying drip tips when I first started with the pipe mods.....(You could use that idea Joe)....I had forgot about that....

I started turning my stems so I could use a cone on my carto's......Now I hate them, because of thier so inconstant.

I now use the mini v nova's.....so I have been redoing my pipes....I was going to post about this later, but since this thread got bumped.

I made a cone that would fit over the mini nova.....tryed to make it look like bamboo....looks more like fake bamboo...O well...maybe next time...

thanks for the kind words.......Tez........you to Sam(I like your pipes)....

Really nice work. I too have made a few pipes. They are fun to make. Is the e-pipe mod switch a friction fit? I have a 18500 pipe in the works that this type of switch would solve that issue. Thanks and again nice work. Would love to see a thread we could share tips and tricks and even pics of our work.

They work magnetically. A magnet on the bottom and the magnetic button work to hold in the battery. The switch just sits on the battery magnetically so when pushed down and contact with the keyring is made the circuit is complete.
