So, what do you do when someone breaks into your house and don't really take
anything?! I came home today to see my front door kicked in, but nothing was
missing! :?:

I mean seriously; laptop, computer, tv, stereo, ps3, ipod, nothing was taken.
Did they get scared off or was it one person and they figured they'd come back with help?
They did take one thing, an empty alum laptop case. It's kind of light with
nothing in it, but apparently they didn't realize this. But, there was an ipod right
next to it and a laptop sitting on the counter in another room, and they left them.

Now I have to take time off work and replace the front door, and I don't even know
if they'll be back or what.

Talk about a mind ****.

maybe they were just checking the place out so they can come back and do the job 'properly':(

This prolly has me more freaked than anything else. I'd really be peeved to fix my door ( and reinforce it somehow ),
for them to just come back later and break in through a window. I am gone most of the day.

That's...wierd. Glad you weren't home. Time to get a big dog. There's plenty at shelters! :)

I love dogs and often think of getting one, but I am gone most of the day. It would seriously be neglected attention wise.

I would highly suggest calling the police and have them collect any/if evidence is on the door/inside ya house and just let them be aware of this incident since it might obviously be a serial home invader in ya area and got spooked somehow and left with the first thing he/she could grab.

I called the police, with nothing but a busted door and a lot of undisturbed electronics laying around, the officer was
not excited. I told him I hadn't touched anything with a thought to prints and he stated there would be no way to know
what to dust. That got me a little torqued, I mean what about the door knobs and drawer handles?!
I don't know why they grabbed the briefcase, it looked like they had already been in my computer room with a laptop
and other various gear laying around, and they didn't take the ipod that was right next to the case.

Maybe they heard there was a real dragon there....but left disappointed......probably the police at the wrong place lol oops.....sorry this happened bud im just trying to make light of a bad situation

They are lucky I didn't catch them in the act, talk about waking the dragon. I am a big man with serious repressed anger
issues. I guess I am lucky I didn't catch them. With the way things are so screwy these days, they prolly would have sued
me for beating the snot out of them.

I am really confused by the whole thing. Several have suggested they were just looking for cash for drugs, but I have
prescription drugs in the house and they didn't touch them. It is obvious they went through the whole house but only
took the one odd item. If they were casing the joint why break in and alert me to better secure my home?

Call again, I don't like how they just took a minor item. I am not a law enforcement officer but sure know they are suppose to have an officer stop by period.

I would spend the money on a video surveillance system, sent to one of my computers... x-10 or something not terribly overpriced. Sounds to me like the police can't be bothered to help, but just think of the havoc you could wreak if you had video of the neighbors kid rifling through your stuff.... and showed his parents

edited to add... maybe you were raided because they saw you "smoking" something strange and they took the case to test for drugs lol JK:vapor:
