Hello all!

I'm jumping on the post-count bandwagon!:2c: I just got my V4L kit this afternoon and I'm having fun experimenting. Surprised me that it sizzles and crackles when I hit the button (got a manual kit). I expected a silent vape...must be tough to stealth vape with that kind of Rice Krispy sound!

Here's my story: started smoking as a teen back when it was accepted everywhere and analogs were 17 cents a pack. Only half-heartedly tried to quit a couple of times - once cold turkey and once with the patches. I stayed pretty active - skiing, hiking, racquetball, jogging - rationalizing, as I saw someone else mention, that it would offset the crap I was inhaling. Fast forward to July 2008 - had a heart attack while playing racquetball (so much for my rationalizations!). Cardiologist told me to quit smoking - instead, I quit playing racquetball. I figured on smoking till I died and was waiting to see what cause of death would get me first - cancer or heart attack.

Two weeks ago I was reading through the cruisecritic message boards and came across a thread about smoking faux cigarettes. From that thread I found this message board and started reading. I try to research things a bit before I jump in, so I read as much as I could absorb for several days and slept on the idea for awhile. Finally, last Sunday I made the decision and ordered my kit from V4L. Also ordered some blank cartos and a variety of juice samples from a couple of sources. Took forever to get here (at least it seemed that way after making the decision and placing the order)!!:(

Now I'm looking forward to enjoying an analog-free life with no burn holes in my shirts/pants/car seats, no cigarette breath, no freeze-my-....-off or bake-in-the-sun smoke breaks and no $8-10 packs of cigarettes.

Here's to all you success stories and all those who are on their way to success!:D

Wow 17 cents a pack , I can only remember it as low as 29 cents a pack, same price as gasoline. Those were the days...

but in 1989 i did get several cartons of generics from the Army commisary for $1.75 a carton lol they were terrible!

Yeah, 17 cents was the price at the corner gas station (gas could be found at that same price per gallon during price wars at that time). I could purchase cigs for 15 cents a pack at the military bases (PX/BX). Sure made it easy to pick up and carry on the habit. My friends and I screamed when the price worked it's way up to 25 cents a pack - thought it was the end of the world as we knew it! And those were the prices for big name brands - generics hadn't even entered the picture.
