Depends really - its widely accepted that PG produces a much 'harsher' (ymmv btw lol) TH than VG or PG/VG mixes, but I've found the nic level can affect it also, certainly for me personally at least. I get much more of a pinch with higher nic levels than at zero.
I think, like everything, it is going to vary from person to person and if you feel it makes a difference to you, thats all that matters :)

Hi Viktor. I have some great liquids with good throat hit... others with none. Some of the strong flavors (like red hot cinnamon) can also mimic that pinch in the throat that we associate with smoking and throat hit. Most of the time, I think it is the chemical flavoring and I find it more in tobaccos or menthols than other flavors. Personally, I don't notice a difference with nicotine levels and throat hit in the liquids.

Here is a recent thread about it (and a few things you can try out to add a bit to any liquid)

From what I hear liquid is main factor. percentage of pg/vg, type of flavor, nic levels.
then i'm guessing atty matters a little too. i get a little better TH with my blu than the 510 but shorter lived i think cause the size of wick is bigger and needs to re-saturate. the 510 provides much more vapor and longer consistant TH,
Blu for stealth vaping
510 when lounging and vaping without possible restrictions.
Blu batt with 510 atty and cart for auto draw lounging when on laptop and want to vape hands free. lol
Just gotta love this ..... lol

Some liquids that cause irritation in the throat are sometimes assumed as TH.
I've been playing with Jalapeno flavor diluted and it does give you a "funny" sensation.

Now, in my experience, I noticed something funny. I used to draw to my mouth then pass to my lungs... no TH unless those irritant flavors or nicotine... then, one day I tried direct drawing to my lungs and found that I get way more TH than the other method.
Direct drawing to my lungs with VG only does not give me any feeling while PG gives some.

"Throat hit", or that slightly burning little "bite" you feel in your throat when you inhale smoke is one of the things that was missing for me when I first started vaping. Even with 24mg juice it wasn't the same. I started mixing my own juice early on after watching a video on mixing posted on youtube by Phee. He taught me the little trick of adding a few drops of PGA (pure grain alcohol) to the juice. Now I get a very realistic sensation of TH from my juice. You can do this to pre-mixed juices too. Just add about 5 drops of PGA (I use 151 proof everclear) for every 10 ml of juice and shake it up to mix it in.

Is it caused by the nicotine? Is the throat that sensitive to nicotine? I diluted my 26 mg liquid with PG and it does go a lot smoother. When I was smoking I attributed that sensation to tar (or smoke harshness, probably the same thing) in cigarettes.

Just curious,
Viktor

Something else to confuse you, voltage. My first hits in the morning are high voltage 7v. Seems to me the higher the voltage the more th cough, cough and the more nic buzz you get. Hot like a analog.:vapor::vapor:
