I've been a 2 PAD guy for many years, Camel Turkish Silver for the last few. I got my Halo Triton starter kit on Friday. I ordered the Tobacco Sample kit with it, and since I need to figure out what juice to buy more of, I figured I'd try 'em all ASAP. In the order that I tried them:

Tribeca: Selected more-or-less at random as the place to start. I vaped it all of Friday afternoon and evening. Literally my first experience with vaping. IIRC, I only had two stinkies during that time. I didn't know what to make of the taste of Tribeca at this point since I had nothing to compare it to, but I wasn't totally thrilled with it.

On Saturday morning, I figured: OK, I've got two batteries and two tanks, might as well start trying other flavors and compare them side-by-side, and the next random choice was:

Turkish Tobacco: Milder and less complex in flavor that Tribeca. Easy to vape. If you're coming from a light or ultra-light non-menthol analogs, this is a good place to start. I liked it better than Tribeca, so Turkish stayed and the tank the Tribeca was in got washed and filled with:

Midnight Apple: This is sorta OK -- tobacco plus apple, but somehow I'm not ready to smoke fruit, and I was still liking Turkish better, so the tank the apple was in got washed again and filled with:

Torque 56: Wow this has a LOT of taste. Maybe too much? Back-and-forth with Turkish.. After a while, it made the Turkish seem bland and almost tasteless. I ended cutting the Torque with a bit of unflavored Fusion, maybe 25-30% to tone it down some. That made it a tough decision as to which one to keep, but the Turkish now seemed almost too bland so I replaced it with:

Prime 15: I find this stuff disgusting; to me it tastes like moldy straw. I vaped less of this than any of the other flavors and washed out the tank in under an hour. Didn't even bother pouring what was left back into its bottle. Replaced it with:

Longhorn: This stuff is interesting. To me it's just like smoking certain kinds of tobacco from a pipe, something I haven't done in many years. My wife (who's never been a smoker) agrees that the vapor smells like pipe tobacco. Because of this, I tend to vape it more like one would smoke a pipe or cigar than a cigarette too. I really like it, but it's not something I could vape continuously all day long.

So, what am I ordering bigger bottles of? Well... I already ordered a 30ml bottle of Turkish (in the same 18 mg strength I've been using) along with a few more tanks, more USB charging adapters, and a VV battery... Now I'm definitely going to get more Torque too, but I think I'm going to go with 6 mg and add in enough of WholeCig's unflavored 36 mg WTA base (already on order) to bring it back up to around 15-18..

Once I have more tanks, I'll give Tribeca and Midnight Apple second chances as well, and I guess I'll probably get 7ml bottles of some of the other tobacco flavors to try out as well.

Marketing idea for Halo: Let people build their own sample packs. :2cool:

Stick with it rossum, you need to develop your buds, not to mention your buds changing from reduced or no smoke.
whatever you don't like now, put in a cupboard and try again in a few months.
I like to mix up my flavours, so I go with a menthol in the morning, something like malibu, then switch to tribeca and then whatever, then at night I wind down with voodoo. And go from light flavours to strong flavours, or if you're on a strong tobacco flavour, switch to a chocolate or menthol or vis versa. if you vape the same or similar flavours for too long, they will lose their taste. and beware of vapers tongue, that's where your tongue turns black and falls off. actually, it's just a temporary loss of being able to taste vaper, food and drink is unaffected.

Yeah, I'm starting to notice that -- the tobacco flavors that started out tasting really strong don't seem so strong anymore.

I think I need more tanks (already ordered!) and more flavors...:D

Another thing I'm starting to notice is a distinct drop-off in taste as my batteries discharge. I made the mistake of ordering 400's in my starter kit. Don't do that! A 400 will NOT last all day, at least not in a useable state, and IMO, they are useless (lack of taste and vapor production) well before they blink to tell you they need to be recharged. In fact, I've never gotten one to the point where it blinked to ask for a re-charge. At first I thought there was something wrong with the tank, but found out that all it needed was a freshly charged battery.

I now have a couple of the 900 VVs on order. Expensive? Bah, put it in context: Together they cost what one carton of stinkies would cost, and being regulated they should produce consistent results no matter their state of charge, right?

Rossum, All I can say is stick with it.

When I first started vaping I thought I wanted Tobacco flavors but didn't really love any of them, with the exception of Southern Classic.

Then I branched out and started trying bakery flavors, vanilla, and desserts and soon found some that I really loved.

In fact, when I order samples, sometimes the one that I turn my nose up to ends up being the one I love the most.

It really is a quest with no real shortcuts.

You just have to keep trying flavors til you find some that you really love.

Try some different ones from Halo, and maybe if you have a vape bar near you, go try some of their flavors and you may get a better idea of what your tastebuds are going to enjoy at this stage.

If there is anything we can help you with, don't hesitate to ask.

Cindy

Alternating between Torque and Longhorn all day today. Still liking them both but for some reason switching back and forth seems better than just puffing one or the other. I should order more Longhorn..

I have 7ml "trial size" bottles of Freedom, Voodoo, and Belgian Cocoa on the way, as well as 4 more tanks. This should let me compare more flavors at the same time.

If there is anything we can help you with, don't hesitate to ask.
I know this is an utter n00b question.. I've never owned or used any equipment except the Halo Triton starter kit. When I want to try a new flavor, I disassemble and rinse all the tank parts in fairly warm water, then let it all dry before reassembling and putting in the new liquid. So how does one go about trying different flavors in a vape shop/bar?

Usually in the vape shop they will have batteries and tanks for you to use. They give you a little rubber condom to put over the tip. The one here has like 100 juices and they have each one in its own tank. So you pick up a battery, get a new condom, then grab a tank, put your condom on the top and vape on that juice. Then when you want to try another flavor, you just switch to the next tank and move your condom to that one.

OK, I found a vape shop, nominally only about half an hour away. In the snarls due to snowy weather yesterday, it took more like an hour to get there, but hey.. Super nice folks! I got to try a bunch of flavors in exactly the manner described above. I ended up buying four bottles of juice (three 30s and a 10). I'm really liking a somewhat fruity flavor called Dragon Blood.

I also bought some industry standard gear to compare with the Halo gear I'm used to. I have to say this: Halo's tanks at $7.00 are a bargain, compared to say, some of the Kangers. But I think there might be something to be said for a bottom-coil tank. I'm not sure whether it's the new juice or the new gear, but this is the first morning I haven't had an irresistible urge to have just one stinky analog to set me right for the the day.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not down on my Halo gear. It's definitely staying in the rotation.

In fact, it's probably not fair of me to compare those new bottom-coil tanks with my existing Halo tanks 'cause the new ones are sitting on top of 1300 mAh spinners while the Halos are on the wimpy 400 mAh that came with my starter kit. But I'm expecting some Halo spinners in the mail today...

You can't have too much juice or too much gear, right? :w00t:
