What a wonderful day here in The Emerald City.....Just recieved a call from my insurer through work. They do not consider the e-cigarette a tobacco product,Therefore no increased rates for yours truly. My only dilemma now is my use of nasal snuff which is considered a tobacco product.....Not sure what type of testing they could conduct to determine if I am using nasal snuff? But it looks like I have the go-ahead to continue using the product that saved me from smoking! the e-cigarette!

One Victory at a time I guess!

:thumbs: CONGRATS WIZ!!!!!!! Hopefully the news about snuff will be just as favorable.
Thanks Skrymr....It's funny how many people at work seemed to think(and still will),that e-cigs contain tobacco because the e-liquid contains nicotine. Most of these folks are non-smokers or the die-hard smokers themselves. Those smokers will continue to smoke regardless of increased rates and would never consider making the switch to e-cigs...I do question why at times. The non-smokers just don't have the facts when it comes to e-cigs(and why should they? they don't smoke!),Trying to educate most of them is a lost cause. A few who have seen me vape at work refuse to believe the vapor they see is not smoke.

As far as my snuff use goes....We'll see!

I shall be a vaping fool today at the workplace!!

Congrats Wiz! I am not sure either how they would or could test for you using snuff. If they test for nicotine, there is nicotine in the liquid so you could use that to your advantage. I doubt if they would test for tobacco alkaloids since it seems that most people think that smoking is all about nicotine. Heck I don't even know if that kind of testing is possible.

Well Wiz--I got to say that while you had a great day, this day stunk for E-cigs with the Appeals Court siding with the FDA and issuing a Stay on the merits finding that the FDA has a high probability of prevailing on the merits of the case.

So I declare this as Emerald City Revolt Day.

    Stock up people.

Even though I don't use it very often, I still credit the e-cig for where I'm at today with not smoking. Most people don't care enough to try to understand what it is all about.

Yep, me too. Had I not switched to vaping I'm sure I wouldn't have found snus. I give PV's full credit that I no longer smoke.

Wiz, this junk with the FDA may eventually change things with your insurer, but as it stands, give 'em a thumbs up. I suspect one day the government will have more control over healthcare and find anything nicotine a reason for scavenging the last of the loose change from our pockets.
