It's funny I had some of the Toque natural (tobacco flavour) snuff knocking about and took it to the pub on Burns night with some non-smoking friends the other night... needless to say after a pint of Guinness and a wee whiskey, the snuff came out and everyone wanted a go! Within, seconds everyone was in fits of hysterics, sneezing and coughing all over the place... all agreed that the natural snuff was a bit fishy and no-one asked for seconds!!

But the Toque peppermint now that's worth a pinch or four!:thumb:

I had always had snuff associated with gentlemen of old times, somewhere before my grandfather´s time, and in a completely different environment from the one I knew growing up where I did, but that might be because everybody in our family smoked so I only knew snuff from literature. And now, looking for a "user guide", I found this: Snuff Etiquette@Everything2.com. Charming:)

And if I fail in the search: How often does one use snuff? I would prefer knowing some basic rules of thumb before overdoing anything. Can it be sniffed like once an hour, or is it only for casual use, like after meal of when drinking sherry or anything?

Damn! I just bought a tin of Ozona menthol snuff. I never tried snuff before. I live in Germany, and today I saw these little cans of snuff when I was buying something, and instantly got excited and bought one.

This stuff is great! I love it. It feels awesome, and let me tell you, I got a nice nicotine rush. It reminded me of being a kid and first trying cigarettes or when you smell a bottle of alcohol as a kid.

Now I want to know everything about this habit.

Once you try snuff, you will likely get addicted to it. I cannot say if the nicotine rush is why this is a fun habit or whether it is fun because there is so much to learn about it. In either case, as TB points out, it is a cheap way to get a nic fix if that is what drive you. I am delving into snuff as an adjunct to my vaping habit. I want to know if vaping (the physical aspects of smoking) or nicotine (the purely chemical allure) is my addiction; or both.

In the short term, I am really enjoying the snuff experience. My vaping has decreased some, but not significantly. It is too early to tell what the oucome of my experience will be, bu snuffing is very nice, desplite the brown discharged into a hankie.

So do I!

Getting a handle on snus just now. I've a snus order coming that includes some snuff. Just had to give it a try...

You're doomed for sure OTD. What's the wife gonna say when you start sniffing powder in your nose.

Just admit we're all fiends and be done with it.

When I first heard of nasal snuff, I thought it must have been such a disgusting habit, but it really isn't. The snuff instantly goes in my nose with a tiny sniff, and then I get that nice menthol sensation along with a nicotine buzz. Only when I blow my nose later on, is it a little dirty. But, most people blow their noses, stuff comes out, and it's not pretty. So, this isn't that far from that.

I am excited. Another great way to get nicotine! I can't believe this isn't more popular. Or maybe it is and I just didn't know about it?

It's cheap too. Any good menthol recommendations? I want a strong ... kicking snuff. This stuff I have right now is pretty good.

I've found not all snuff requires paper towels stuffed in your pockets. I don't need to clear my nose for several hours for some reason, but the problem with "sniffing" as opposed to vaccuming the stuff is that the front and most visible part of your nostrils get stained brown. Maybe that's the origin of the term "brown nosing" someone. You do need to wash it off though, I'd hate for people to mistake my nose was in something else:)

I kept saying "addict" up until the Macchiato snus arrived. Fiends... doomed I may be....

As for the wife, as long as I don't use white handkerchiefs I should be good :D

If you snort it, Giantfan, it will hit the sinus passages hard, burning like crazy, but, worse, it will trickle down the back of your throat. There is no good way to get rid of that painful sensation. Not even drinking water helps, because you've powdered the area between nose and throat.

Get ready to cough, cough, cough for a long time and dab your watering eyes.

I've done it. I've seen YouTube videos of people snorting long lines of snuff through a straw. Try it, but people "sniff" this stuff for a reason. The lower part of the nose works fine for absorption and there's no irritation.

One person I know who has used snuff for a long time puts an index finger in the snuff, then touches it lightly into the base of each nostril. That's plenty. Works for him -- but I can't recommend that in a crowded restaurant after supper!
