When there was a Maryland Call to Action I e-mailed ALL of my representatives to let them know how I felt about including electronic cigarette vapor in the MD Clean Indoor Act, therefor banning vaping where smoking is banned (which will hit the BEACH soon - an outdoor space??). This was bill HB 1291. The only representative to respond to me initially was Brian McHale, who contacted me again today to let me know the bill is dead and will not go to the floor. Woo hoo! Although my contacting him probably had nothing to do with it, I just feel a small sense of victory :) Please keep up on your states bills and contact your representatives people! :) Thanks for listening.

Thanks for all your kind words! I let him know how much I appreciated his communication and that he was the ONLY one to respond of 20+ representatives. Seriously, banning vaping on the beach? They've already banned smoking in Rehoboth Beach and boardwalk in DE, not very far north from OC (although obv a different state).

Glad to hear a Rep actually returned contact. Makes it mean so much more.

I think one thing that really helped was Reps from CASAA and Smoke Free PA. Both stood opposed and gave excellent arguments. We need more well informed groups speaking on our behalf.

Thank you and All who Stand and defend our healthier choice!

I pointed all the reps in the direction of CASAA as well!

Brian McHale, Democrat, District 46

If anyone wants to thank him for being *responsive* his email is here:
Brian K. McHale, Maryland State Delegate

now if only we could get some the ecig vendors to return phone calls and/or emails.:glare:

I am sure they are watching other such proposals throughout the country. The state of Washington shelved theirs as well. We have become quite vocal and I also hope the legislators are getting a little more educated on the subject.

Saw my State Rep at a St Patrick's function. Took the opportunity to give a demo of my eGo c-4.
He asked that I put together supporting material for his reference.
2 beach towns have banned analogs from Beach & Boardwalk. I wanted him to watch out for vapor users being included in those bans.
So far vapor users have not been challenged but it is early in the season.

GAM-HB1291 Summary 2014 Regular Session

Turns out there's a parliamentary move called "Motion to Substitute Bill for Unfavorable Report": http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/pubs-current/current-motions.pdf (in other words, the status of HB 1291 doesn't nec'ly mean that it couldn't be brought to the floor via a motion, as I read the PDF).

I'm not seeing anything in Capital Gaz. or UMDs CNS which are two of the most respected sources in MD, however it may be that the OTHER_STUFF bills got all the attn.
