Looking to get a new dripper. My current phoenix, one of the screws won't go down all the way and it irritates me. I'm debating between the A7 or the phoenix v3. Does the fact that the airflow comes from the connection with the A7 make any difference with vapor production etc? Which one holds more drops? Thanks guys.

if the phoenix is a side hole i would think its less prone to leakage from overfilling BUT with that being said..

I have the A7 and put some looong wicks on there and dont have a problem if you drip and roll a bit b4 using. and unlike a lot of the clones it is solid SS and very easy to work on as the head/base plate actually unscrews from the well and has holes in the posts to put the wire instead of trying to wrap a screw.
I never tried the phoenix but i think the little a7 rocks.

Thanks Thrasher, I looked at a few videos they look sweet the A7s. They must be good cause everyone is out of stock except one place that wants 20 meh. I'll probably do a v3 phoenix from mountain oak and then pick up an A7 when they back in stock at the more reasonable places. I know it's only like 5 bucks but I'm the only one working and those 5 bucks add up heh.

I got 2 A7's from a co-op and a couple tips i can give is when you drip into it kind of tilt it some. I notice if i drip with it straight up it sometimes goes down the center hole and right out the bottom. Also the draw from the A7 is very airy. Not that its bad or anything it just took me some time to get used. I have been using them for a month now and its all i use anymore. Now i dont have much RBA experience, only had a couple but i like it. Also another note, the posts that you wire the coils through is a pain to line up. What i mean is the holes in the posts you put the coils through. I keep unscrewing them and putting them back on but cant seem to get the holes to a spot that doesnt bend and pull the coil and leave hot spots.

Another thing i didnt know when i first got mine is that the bottom connection on the A7 is adjustable. When i got them in they would not complete a connection on my MVP and i thought i had gotten duds, then realized the connection screws out to make it longer /facepalm.

When I was researching the RBAs, I noticed several posts about the draw on the different devices, with some folks drilling out the air holes and so on. I also took note that some of them had a center air passage and others had their air hole on the side. Another variable on the side drilled airholes was the distance from the air hole to the wick, which I think does make a difference, but I'm guessing at that, because I don't own the different models to test them.

Since I'm an old ce2 user (now reduxes), early on I was looking at the A7 and Vision Eternity, as they both have center air tubes, and they were getting good reviews. I decided against the Vision because of it's coil mounting system, and I decided I wanted to try a tank system first, which ruled out the A7. I finally wound up getting the Gen 1 from COV. The reviews I read were mostly good, with the draw getting special mention on some of them.

I'm happy with this unit. The draw is perfect for me, the cap tightens up enough to not move when you stop it at the wick, and because the wick is mounted on the side, the air hole is close to the wick.

The thing is, it could be set up for just dripping. Just don't use the juice well, which would make it less wasteful to clean and change juices, less cooking of the juice and so on. True, you'd still have the unneeded juice well, but you'd still have the performance, plus one heck of a big excess juice collector lol. Won't appeal to everyone, but just something to think about.

Best of luck on what ever you decide. :vapor:

If you already have an A7, I wouldn't personally bother getting a phoenix unless you want an excuse to play around with vertical/SS wicks (they're a lot easier in there than with the A7's central air hole). The way the top cap works, there WILL be juice around the bottom of the phoenix when you open it which is a pain if you're opening it a lot.

Also, I was not a fan of the teeny tiny screws in the phoenix, but YMMV. It was a solid atty, but I completely shelved it when I got an A7.

i put a toothpick in one of the stemholes to tighten the draw and the coil holes arent too bad just have to leave slack and go slow, tighten just enough to hold one and adjust the other.

Side note: Because the A7 has the unsealed connector, it can be used with a bottom-fed device.

i plan to get the A7 for this reason. i really hope it works on the VMod 2.0. i plan to get the A7 with an unsealed adapter. i hope this works, the sizes of everything appear to work out but ive been trying to find reports of vapers that have done this exact thing. for some reaon im having a lot of trouble locating someone that has an A7 on a VMod 2.0. any help would be appreciated.
