Why do 'they' feel the need to make up irrational explanations?

It's the same thing with that old BS regarding cell phones at the gas pumps some years ago. People basically freaked out with zero justification and zero evidence.

Then Mythbusters came along and proved what I already knew to be true.

So, you can't use e-cigs on AA because of static electricity sparks?:)

Well, here is the page from the magazine from last July. Not sure if its big enough but on the last column just a little past half way down it says no e-cigs can be used.
I've vaped discreetly may times on AA since without problems.

Meanwhile, the majority of the population still think using a cellphone will cause an explosion and that pigs sweat.

Just an update, coming back from Canada. Their security procedures have been seriously clamped down when coming back into the US. They took all the stuff out of my bag and questioned me about my Janty Stick (I told them it was a nicotine inhaler and they pretty much ignored it after that). I even had a small bottle of juice in my pocket that I had to show them and they let that go through even though it wasn't in the baggie. Just be prepared for questions I guess. Especially if you have one of the more extreme mods.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Hubby just flew back home and in one of AA magazines, it said e-cigs were not allowed on the plane. The reason why was pretty much the auto batteries and them sending out some signal which is a load of crap.

Certainly glad I got my NicoStick.:)

Cell phones do send out radio waves, but I don't know if they would interfere with the plane, it all depends on what frequencies are used by the aircraft. On the other hand, if batteries send out radio waves, that's news to me, it is a load of crap !!

Both times I went through TSA security recently, my Prodigies v1 and v2 were removed from my carry-on and I was questioned. They let me through, but it was still disconcerting. Just doing their jobs...

Flew both American and Continental this past week and they both have notices in their in-flight magazines that e-cigs are not allowed to be activated on board. Otherwise, no issues carrying my 510 and M402 (plus PCCs) through security or customs on either side of the border. Had to show them the dropper bottle of juice though.
