Yes I was planning on getting a couple sampler packs of e-juice. My feeling about e-juice is that I'll eventually graduate to making my own juice anyway (assuming that I never quite find the right one, and the chemistry isn't too hard for being a chef, DIYing juice seems to be akin to making sorbet, you have a set of four or five ingredients what changes is the proportions). And that it would be easier to buy small bottles while looking for a basic all day. The best comparison when it comes to taste I've ever heard about juice is that it is a bit like ice cream. You have hundreds of flavors in four basic styles premium, standard, cheap, and home made.

Over all I was thinking about getting a reletively standard tobacco flavor and two non tobacco flavors. Probably a fruit and a coffee.

I'm a chef as well Abe, and that's the perfect way to look at DIY juice. Id suggest one of the many fine tobacco flavors Heathers heavenly vapes has to offer. Huntsman is my personal favorite. Followed closely by, legend, heavenly tobacco, and shadow. Also try carnival (reminiscent to a caramel apple lollipop) and vapin chimp (best banana I've ever tried)

I've heard of people talking about banana flavored juice. I will have to try it at some point. But as far as weird sounding things for juice go I'd like to see if there is a key lime pie, or a lime sorbet. I know in FL oranges always get the spot light but we grow lemons and limes too. MMMM Limes.

Also its good to see I'm not the only chef around.

FL citrus something or other from mt baker vapors gets high praise around here. If you want weird, dill pickle, bacon, tomato soup, and crab from ecblends is the way to go

Hi Abe, welcome!
I shop at LJesmoke all the time. While the battery prices aren't the best, they do have some great e-juice flavors. I highly recommend Twisted Pair and Coquito. I have a list that I want to try from them , a few at a time. Thanks, now I want some pickles too. I love sours, but hard to find.
I live in Port Orange so it sounds like you aren't too far away. I do use a vendor at the Daytona Flea Market. They are in the air conditioned building; Building E2. Very friendly staff at Vapor and Co.. They carry some good liquid too. The e-juice brand is Totally Wicked, though they do offer other brands as well. I plan on going tomorrow, more juice and mod batteries. You can try flavors at either, the flea market is easier because they have it set up to try just about all the flavors they carry. There are some other flea market vendors, I do not recommend them, they are the mall type of vendor, high prices poor product.

If you are close enough to Daytona there are a few other options here as well. You can PM me for other location. I can't remember the name of the store, have to look for the card. Hopefully, if you PM I will have a chance to go through my bag of junk.

Karen yeah for me, I'm willing to pay a premium for a B&M e-cig shop. Its easier to get to know who you are dealing with in person than over the internet. Personally I know this may sound weird for someone only in their 30s to say but I try to avoid ordering things on the internet if I can. To me its like buying a pig in a poke. But in person, if one knows what they are after, and has a fair bit of knowledge they can "just tell" if the sales person is trying to actually help them or if they are just after a quick buck. I could go on about body language being like 85% of communication and yadda yadda yadda. I kinda already factored in that B&Ms will be a tad more expensive they have rent and salaries to pay and other forms of overhead that an internet only business doesn't have to consider.

I did send you a pm. I am interested in checking out the other local shops too. It does seem to me that many e-cig shops either specialize in juice or hardware. It may turn out that I go to one place for juice and DIY juice stuff (if I DIY anything it is most likely to be that given my background in cooking) and an other place for hardware. It really depends on how it turns out.

So far most everyone has been pretty great about answering my probably very n00bish questions. I do know though that while I've absorbed a lot of information most of the time when it comes to the hardware I simply don't know anything. And when people start talking about ohms and volts and the math involved...my head spins. I'll likely have to end up taking a artistic rather than scientific approach to vaping. I was never good at math or science anyway.

I'll send you a link to an article that really helped me understand the ohms and voltage and wattage thing. The guy who wrote it created a chart known as the Safe Vaping Power Chart. It's a spreadsheet type of deal that really simplifies knowing what ohms work best with what voltage. The chart appears down later in the article.

But anyway, the article explains things I believe pretty simply. Some people believe the chart has become outdated, although it was only created about a year ago, but it still stands as a good general guideline.

Keep in mind that if you want to go citrus, cinnamon, and possibly banana will ruin most clearos. You'll need glass, metal or the "safe" plastic (someone chime in here I'm spacing out on which one is safe). Those flavors and many others will corrode or crack most plastic clearos and tanks, and can melt plastic drip tips.

Hi there Baditude! I want to tell you how much you helped me learn...The chart helped me understand as well as other various posts you have done.

Glad that I have been able to help you. I'm currently trying to think of ways to collect important information and put it into my blog so that I can direct members there so that they will always have a resource to reference. I've already got some things there, but many brand new members said that they couldn't gain access to it, so I had a couple of the ECF moderators fix some things so that even they can access it.

Careful with the citrus juices in plastic tasks/clearomizers... They've been known to crack with citrus and cinnamon.

Careful with the citrus juices in plastic tasks/clearomizers... They've been known to crack with citrus and cinnamon.

Thanks for the info about the polycarbonate clearomizers cracking with some juices. I actually copy-pasted the current list of known juices that do that into a word document. I kinda figured that it would be useful.

That said I did save Baditude's list of juices with lime flavorings. I'll definitely want to try those out at some point, as I happen to really really like lime based flavors, ever since I was a little kid. I blame my mother on that because she used to get me a store brand lime flavored (not key lime pie--just regular lime) yogurt that I really really loved. Unfortunately they stopped making it when I was around 12. But I clearly remember how it tastes. My usual luck, I really like something but I'm the only person on the planet who does. LOL.

Is it safe to assume that with few exceptions if the atty/carto is rated for a type of battery (say a 510 for example) that it is interchangeable with all or at least most equipment with the same type of connection?

Yes, you are correct about the connector for the atomizer needing to be the same for your battery. The 510 or eGo being the most common.

The atomizers and cartomizers will also likely be offered in different ohm ratings (resistance rating), as is described in the Safe Vaping article that I posted earlier in this thread. If you are going to be using variable voltage (eGo Twist or Spinner battery) an ohm rating between 2.0 and 3.0 will provide the widest range of voltage for you. For a set voltage battery (3.7 volts), a 2.0 ohm would probably be best.

For the cartomizer, I recommend single coils instead of dual coil, although you could get some of each to see which you prefer. The dual coils do use up a battery's charge a little faster than a single coil will.

Yes Abe, the battery from your op has 510 and ego threads. Any device with either of those thrds will work.
