...perhaps there is no one online right now that has an answer.
I don't.

People aren't here 24/7

I have sent a message to Roly to bring this to his attention tho

Understood and really appreciate your response and contacting "roly" - THANK YOU! ! !

But - Whoever put that message up without making sure that it could be closed. . .
Well as "You" know I cannot say what I want to So I'll just leave it at . . .

Roly put that up there, after he and I worked out some new information for it, and he made it "non-dismissable", as information is changing near daily, and I agreed with his decision. It's not just important information, it is vital information now. Roly can make the decision to make it "dismissable", but then anyone who does, may not see when changes are made. We are at a critical time now, and taking a chance on the many who typically dismiss it without bothering to read it is too great a chance to take now.

When you scroll up, the banner goes up with the page, so the real estate taken up by the banner shouldn't be an issue except when you first land on a page.

In my opinion, it's a small price to pay to try to keep everyone informed, since many do not visit the CASAA or Legislative Forums regularly (if at all).

Having said that, as I pointed out, Roly will make that decision. :)

I totally agree. Lots of people posted for these Call to Actions to be at the top stickied for all to see, and now people want it gone...or the option to X it off. LOL.

It is very important info, so lets just deal with it.

I hear what "You" are saying and could understand however - IMO - It is extremely intrusive and not needed once it has been read, especially to have it on each and every page of every thread . . .

What are "We" school children now that need to be force feed information . . .

NO MATTER - How important this is - Not everyone is a member of CASSA - nor wants to be dictated too or forced to join a group that only speaks for those who are members and wants others to stay quiet until they say it is the right thing to do . . . I really dislike that they tried to stop people from expressing their opinions or voicing their concerns to the FDA without their approval or permission . . . SO I surely do not want to be forced to see this everywhere . . .

AGAIN - This is "MY" Personal Opinion . . . AND - I do hope that "rolygate" will rethink this new policy and reconsider, especially to treat us like adults and allow us to make our own decision to either read or not read the links when it comes to these supposed "Call to Action" banners . . .

It is very important info, so lets just deal with it.

Actually - "YOU" NEED to deal with the fact that not everyone agrees with this new policy . . . AND - Of course - "You" have the right to express yourself and just accept that this is happening . . . However, I have just as much right to disagree and voice "My" opinion here as "You" Do . . . OR - Are "You" going to follow in the FDA and "Anti- Smoking/vaping Natzi" to force everyone to follow what "YOU" think best for everyone and dictate what is right and wrong . . .

Wow! I never said you had to but apparently it's up there and it looks like it's staying.

I never meant what I said to be mean, but was making a point. I just seen a thread earlier, before this got stickied, of members begging for the CASAA Call to actions to be stickied. I was just saying how some wanted it, yet now others don't. You can't please everyone is all I was trying to point out.

My opinion is these deming regulations and these Call to Actions are detrimental to all Vapers. We all need to see these things. A lot of newbies haven't a clue that we are under attack. A small inconvenience is okay with me. You have your opinions. That's cool. But it looks like the sticky is here to stay and I completely understand why.

Things are about to get really tough, globally, as all our various opponents join forces to shut us down - their pain is really cranking up now as vaping will have taken away 25% of smokers by next year. The loss of money is beginning to really hurt the cigarette trade, the pharmaceutical industry, States' MSA payments, tobacco tax revenues, and tobacco control industry funding; and they will all fight hard to keep the money rolling in. MSA payments are already starting to slide, way before this effect was expected - and as a result the State Attorneys General are screaming in pain. All these people are desperate to protect smoking and they will all do their utmost to try and kill us off - literally.

In around 2 years or so there will be no legal access to most of the products we are familiar with, in both the USA and the EU, if things continue as they are. The most important thing now (and for the next few years) is that people fight for their right to life and health, keep fighting, and never give up. It requires both the trade and the community to do their bit, and the power of the community is important now and will eventually be the critical factor (as it will become a voting issue). The key is organisation, because a fragmented response is useless. CASAA are the best people in the US to organise the community response, although if some don't agree then that is their prerogative. ECF will always back CASAA because we know what they are capable of doing and what they have achieved already. Others can work independently, or support CASAA as needed - but CASAA have the structure in place.

If CASAA notices annoy some people then that is a price we are very happy to pay.

Having said that, it is reasonable to try and reduce the annoyance (maybe for people using mobile devices etc.) so we are currently looking at ways to mitigate the intrusion. In the past our Notices have been dismissible, but the threats are coming so thick and fast now that this is no longer an option - we need a constant CTA notice in place, and this can be intrusive. However, if the Notice can be kept to the index page only, that would be perfect. We're waiting on our coder's decision about this (currently Notices are site-wide, or forum-specific, which is a vBulletin forum software 'feature').

Please do not misrepresent CASAA's actions and intent.

1) The Calls to Action are not just for CASAA members. They are to make everyone aware of what is happening in their area.

2) Being made aware of legislative threats is in no way "dictating" to people nor forcing people to "join a group." You can choose to take action or not and taking action doesn't require joining CASAA.

3) CASAA leadership never "tried to stop people from expressing their opinions or voicing their concerns to the FDA without their approval or permission." All CASAA did was ask CASAA members to please wait to submit their comments until we could review and analyze the rule and provide them some guidance. CASAA has no way to "force" people not to submit their comments nor would we try. Vapers join CASAA to be part of an organized effort to fight bad laws and get the truth out about smoke-free alternatives and any messages here made by CASAA leadership, specifically regarding the FDA comments, was directed at our members and simply to inform them of what we were doing and provide the guidance they expect.

First - THANK YOU - for responding and I do appreciate you hearing "My" voice and concerns in this matter . . . :D

NOW - As an advocate and activist for quite a number of years (Remember I'm a child of the 60's here and fully understand the need and have fought for not only "My" rights, but those that are being & have been marginalized and disenfranchised for years) - I not only fully understand and agree that something needs to be done and people really do need to be informed . . . It Is A Necessity - as "You" have mentioned - and even worth the slight inconvenience for a while too . . .

More importantly, I really have no problem with having this information put up front and center for people to see (and is "NEEDED"), however even with that said - the "Call to Action" banner on each and every page and thread of ECF is/has been quite annoying . . . So I do appreciate very much that ECF is considering having it limited to the "index page" . . . I would even agree that the "Call to Action" banners really need to be put on each and every thread throughout ECF - as long as once someone has read them they can be closed . . . (Maybe something can be coded in like the "Read first new post" option - once read, it goes away and you are taken to the next new post . . . Just a thought . . .)

Excuse "Me" - "We" do not know each other . . . However - It is not I that needs to told not to misrepresent CASSA - but those in your membership that use the CASSA's name as the one and only authority to speak for "US" as a whole . . .

Matter of fact - Until CASSA's members recent actions here on ECF and elsewhere - trying to stop people (including "Me" and others) from expressing themselves just because CASSA didn't approve of people speaking out, signing ill-written petitions, and/or said so - I was very much behind the organization and very appreciative of what CASSA was doing. I was even considering becoming a member, including offering a donation (even on "My" limited disability income - as I am a "Supporting Member" of ECF) . . .

As most people already know and that actually - DO KNOW "ME" - I have been an advocate and activist for a number of years and for many community organizations and political groups . . . Matter of fact, I have had even been so here on ECF, which left "Me' being banned for a few days for speaking out about something I found to be unfair and inappropriate . . . AND - Will continue to do - even if it is uncomfortable to hear at times . . .

AND - As I posted elsewhere here on ECF when someone asked why I was upset when CASSA's Members tried stop "Me" from speaking up and even had the audacity to request that "My" post be deleted concerning CASSSA's actions and intent as being justification to stop people from speaking up:

Just Really "TD-OFF" at the "holier-then-tho" people who think that their way is the only way to go about something - without any discussion - nor consensus of what others might have to say . . .

"MY" Voice is Mine - NOT Someone else - nor to be Dictated to about what I have to - SAY . . . Been There Done That . . . NOT NICE ! ! !

AND - To be honest, it took "Me" a very long time to find and have a voice - SO NO ONE IS SHUTTING "ME" UP - especially when I have something to say . . . I've EARNED the right in more ways then one . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;-)

SO - If Anyone NEEDS to be told NOT MISREPRESENT CASSA's "actions and intent" . . .
It is CASSA's members/membership - NOT "ME" . . .

My two cents worth. Isn't protecting our vaping rights and helping vapers to get the best out of vaping, the main goal of ECF? I always thought so. Many of us "oldtimers" have moved on to social threads, but when times get tough, we should all pull together to protect our right to vape and not go back to smoking.

Personally, I don't mind the calls to action, no matter where they are located. It's really what this forum is all about. :thumb: Thank you ECF and thank you CASAA.

Oh, I agree, I really want the notices. Don't get me wrong, I think they are appropriate. What I would like is to be able to turn them off once I have attended to them so they don't stack up :)

Those aligned against vaping, who actually do monitor this forum, must be smiling with glee that we are more concerned with whether a banner is at the top of each page (requesting that we take action to keep vaping available) instead of actually working together to fight these regulations. Logic dictates that one voice alone (or even a few voices together) are easily ignored but that many voices united on an issue are heard. The VOLUNTEERS who administer CASAA have worked hard for 4+ years to unite the "consumer vaping voice" so it can be heard by the powers to be.

I am not aware of another organization that is available, for consumer vapers to support, in their effort to keep these draconian regulations from becoming a reality. The fact that ECF has 20,000 active members but CASAA has approximately 13,000 members, and only a fraction of those members actually support CASAA, tells me the time is long past due to put aside these "issues" that have nothing to do with fighting these regulations. Maybe reminding ECF members daily, that this alternative to smoking could easily be taken away, is the only way to get people to pay attention. And if there is some other "effective" means to fight these regulations, I would love to hear it.

Honestly, I couldn't agree any more then I have already . . .

There really NEEDS to be many voices added to the chorus, especially so the song is loud and clear enough to be heard . . .

It is just the way that some - not everyone - is going about this that infuriates "Me". . .

I've said it before and I will say it again . . .

Sometimes It Is Almost As Though "We" Become As Guilty Of Doing What Exactly "We" Accuse Other's of Doing . . .

AND - That in itself is a major problem, particularly when people who have differing opinions are continued to be disenfranchised and their voices (which are just as important to be heard) are being marginalized by a few or the powers that be . . .

AS Such - IMO - Those few people who actually voice their opinions, which may or may not differ from the norm, should be shown just as much respect - if not more, for just having the courage to speak-up . . .

That includes . . . An Individual - The Few - and The Group As A Whole . . .

Just Sayin' . . .
