I don't think the Lethal Box works like that though. The battery negative is always touching the box because they are screwed in. I haven't actually tried it, but its definitely on my list of mechs to get. Its got a top mounted fire switch on the opposite side from the atomizer... kind of like a Dimitri. There are $30 clones available now. I don't have one and can't find pictures of the switch internally, but this is how I bet that it works:
The battery under the atomizer is not actually touching the connection to the 510 pin, thats why the box is a little bit higher up on that side. This battery is simply connected to the other batteries. The battery closest to the switch is just under a piece of metal that is connected to 510 pin. The switch pushes the metal down to supply 4.2 volts.

It's safer than cherry, the body looks insulated I think? Looks to me the batteries are connected to the centre pin at the positive end, the negative end is connected up to the swtich, when the switch is pressed, it touches the metal piece on the 510 connection (internally) and completes the circuit

ADD: The Lethal box is a tri-battery, you could easily draw 60amps (20A each) without stressing the batteries, that translates to 0.07ohms, about 240W, without pushing the batteries too hard........ I'll still stick to sub 50W heh.

If it was switched like the CB, there would need to be non-conductive insulators around where the atomizer is mounted (like the CB has). But the Lethal doesn't have that.

ETA: That being said, the CB is a great mod. Any mod can be dangerous if used in ways not intended. I don't think its any different than buying a car, or a lawnmower, or a power tool.

You know, after actually seeing this, its kind of scary thinking about my local B&M selling mech mods...They do sell the e-fest "35A" batteries as their recommended battery .. still scary though if in the hands of someone inexperienced.

That battery is actually only a 20 amp CDR battery, a re-wrapped LG-HE2. Efest doesn't make their own cells, they only re-wrap other manufacturer's cells. Unless you are a frequent ECF reader, you'd assumed that the CDR of this battery is what is printed on the wrapper. Efest has a long history of over-rating their battery specs.

Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised

"The IMR 18650 2500 mAh EFEST announced as 35A continuous discharge, are actually LG cells supporting a peak value of 35A but continuous discharge 20A.

This information is especially important for merchants who sell these batteries. We had already
warned (about) the EFEST Purple 2500mAh batteries, announcing whimsical performance, especially in terms of continuous discharge, which can quickly be dangerous under certain conditions of use (low and very low resistance)."

Yeah after doing some research after the fact I found that out, hence why I put 35A in quotes. Luckily for me I don't try to super sub-ohm or anything and the HE2 is a good cell. I personally use VTC's now. Like I said though.. scary for people who don't do prior research!!

Life is scary for people who don't do research.

It's YOUR responsibility to vape safe/live safe.

ALl good replies.... YES educate yourself, SAFETY first...

Just my 2 cents... I started all this a few years ago when mechs were the "must have" etc...

Ive been using mechs for a few years and if you make sure you get one designed for safety and do your homework its just as safe in my book ( again, MY BOOK )

I always check resistance every step of the build, Atty build is THE thing to it all. I suppose part of it is my "whimpy" style of vaping. Usually around 1.0, so its a big part of it. If your taste and style are high performance Im sure being regulated makes a big difference in many aspects.

Ive only had one battery expand in my vape journey. It was on a 100 degree day, I was lost and no AC in the car. Thank goodness I was aware and that the MOD was designed to come apart and keep me from coming apart too.

But all the regulated safety features cant keep you safe from " unsafe " actions. Just do all you can to educate and know your limits with your gear and all will be "happy vape time"

In the words of the Great "Dirty Harry" " a mans gotta know his/ her limitations...."
think safe and you will stay safer...

When looking at mech, read the specs. How low a resistance all depends on the what the modder chooses as insulators etc. Most good modders will let you know what the recommended lowest resistance is on their device, ask them if they dont.
