Hi guys,

What is the difference between tanks like Protanks and other RBAs?
AFAIK, a Protank's heads can easily be rebuilt after some practice, which I haven't done yet but doesn't that make it "rebuildable"?
So what are the advantages of RBAs over Protanks/Evods/etc.? And what are you recommendations of the rba to go for when I decide to switch?

Thanks,
Rheicide

Your really only going to be able to rebuild one of those a few times before having to buy a new coil. The little gasket eventually wears out inside the connector. A rba will last you a lond time, their made to. Just buy wick and wires.
Depends how much you want to spend. I like the aga-t2 lol it's the only kind I have ATM, I have 2 of them.
Rba's run from twenty something dollars to a couple hundred dollars.

Welcome , but the Protanks and Evods, Vivi's , T3's , etc . are not true rebuildables . And all of them use some sort of silica , or cotton type wicking . And as was said earlier , yes you can re-coil / wick them a few times , but then you have to buy a replacement coil head . Most of these tend to mute the flavor a bit , and smooth out the overall vapor . The true RBA's and RDA's use stainless mesh , or other exotic materials for the wicks , and either Nichrome or Kanthal wire , for the coils . They provide a sharper / cleaner flavor in comparison with the other type , and are very cheap to be-build . If you should decide to try out the world of RBA's . The AGA-T's , or the DID clones , or the Smok RSST are good , cheap starting devices . Also check out YouTube . Lots of video's on rebuilding the different RBA's and such . Good Luck .

Protanks, Evods, T3s, etc. are rebuildable. They're not "genesis-style" rebuildables, but they are indeed rebuildable.

I've replaced the wick/coil in one of my protanks at least twenty times. The rubber insert is still in very good condition. You will not have to buy a replacement head after a few rebuilds, assuming your hands aren't made of razor blades.

The Protank can be rebuilt with zero practice or experience. I did it here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/396220-kanger-protank-rebuild.html

I had at least four beers in my system and it turned out great.

I've heard that a cleaner, more intense vapor is produced with a properly built genesis-style RBA. I've tried 'em and still haven't had any epiphanies. I'll try some more in the future.

Protanks and eVods and the likes are not rebuildables. They are rebuildable, but not rebuildables. Former is an adjective, latter is a noun to indicate a certain class of atomizers.

The rebuildables class (RBAs) are designed such that you have to make your own wick and coil, and they are made with that sole purpose in mind.

Genesis style RBAs provide a cleaner and more intense taste than the Protank, if you set it up well. That said, i rebuilt my Protank using the same material as my Genesis devices, and am very happy with it.

Thank you all for your opinions!

Hi there my fellow countryman! I have another question: let's assume that we rebuild an RBA and a Protank with the same coil/wick material, length and resistance then use them with the same battery/mod, will there be differences in the tastes they provide and if so, where do those differences come from? Head structure?

Mainly the position of the vapor production facility. In a Genny, it basically seperates a small amount of juice (by wicking it) up to a seperate air chamber then vaporize it, so there is nothing there to color/ mute the flavor. protank may be affected by the juice inside the take and the likes.

Thank you! Rebuilding my Protank will be my next step in vaping. Would you mind if I have some questions for you every now and then?
