About to give it a shot..

I've been viewing this site for a few months now and I am about to jump on into vaping. Been a smoker for a good 12 years or so. Usually one pack of ultra lights a day. I've tried the patches and the gum with mild success. First time I quit, some bad family issues came up and I had to return to my crutch and ruined a good three months without a cig. Then I had it beat again for about 3 months when I started sneaking one here and there. In about two weeks time I was full on again. I sure hope this will help get me off cigs for good. I feel it will help because it will give me something to smoke/vape when I get the craving.
I ordered a Joye 510 kit and two bottles of e-juice. Got the tobacco and ry4 flavors to start with. Everything should be here by mid week and I am going to try and psych myself up till then. I do have a few questions that I hope someone will answer for me. Basicly, how should I vape? Do I use it like a normal cig and hit it off and on for 4 or 5 min? I see people saying that the 510 lasts 2 to 3 hours. Does that mean that once I unplug it from the charger, that it will need recharging in a few hours or is that vaping time and it will last longer?
Thanks for all the info you folks have provided and wish me luck.

Welcome to ecf!

Everyone is different. Some people do vape about ao times & put it down for an hour or so. I vape alot more than I smoked, but I would have smoked more if I could have done it in my chair! as far as the battery charge, it is for the amount of time vaping. If you vape alot, you will have to recharge more. But if you don't vape at all, it will last for months.

Good luck!

My 510 (manual batteries, not automatic) made it through about 6 hours of vaping the way you're describing; i.e.; treat it like a cigarette and vape during specified breaks. With a PCC, it would have done great for me, but I wanted more power and went first with an eGo, and now I've ordered a true mod. But if the 510 hits your sweet spot, it's a good package and should take care of what you need.

The battery life is affected by active vaping, not sitting time (unless it's sitting for days).

How long you batt lasts depends on how often and hard you hit it. I don't vape like I smoked. With an analog you smoke it till it's gone, then in an hour you do it all over again. Vaping is more slow and steady. I just take a hit or 2, or 3 every few minutes as I see fit. It's more of a constant than an intermitent type of activity, at least for me. You also don't take hits like you would with an analog. Long slow steady draws of about 3 to 5 seconds is normal I think.
On a side note, if you're in a "tent down by the river", whar ya gonna charge that thang?:?:

I think it definitely takes time Catfish. Don't expect too much from yourself in the beginning. The cigarette police won't knock on your door! :D I think what helped me most was I got really lucky with the juice. I have only ever smoked Newports and ordered the Nuport juice from nhaler. It's not exactly like a Newport but it does the trick. Definitely stopped me from craving the real thing.

Hi and welcome to ECF! Did you blow the primer fluid out of the atty before started with your own juice? Primer fluid can taste pretty yucky and will definitely mask whatever flavor juice you are trying to use. Another thing to remember also is that your tastebuds need time to recover. Juice that may taste like nothing (or even yucky) now, you may end up loving a month from now. Also, finding just the right flavor is a process of trial and error. Just buy some sample packs of flavors to start out with, that way you get to try a variety of flavors relatively inexpensively, and chances are you will find at least 1 or 2 that you really like.

I did blow the oil out of the atty. I agree, my taste buds are not up to par yet. Also, the ecig kinda feels like a super-ultra light analog, but I am supprised on how close it resembles smoking. Maybe not so much the taste, but the vapor and throat hit are very close. I am using today as a learning day. Think I'll make my analog quit date this weekend. By then I should have a good understanding of how to use my unit. Thanks.

It was kind of funny for me, actually. When we ordered our first Starter Kit (Yeti 510), I never *expected* to quit smoking. I thought, if nothing else, it would help me cut back and maybe save some money. But the first day we tried our 510's we knew we were done with the stinky-stix. I think what made it easier for me was that I didn't go into it with the plans of quitting. In the past, every time I've tried to quit smoking, just *thinking* about it made me want cigs more. So this time, I just didn't even think about quitting. It just happened.

Hi Catfish!!

Most of us start by switching back and forth between regular cigarettes and e-cigs for a while.

Give yourself some time to get acclimated to what I like to call “a new hobby”.

Also, you may want to order a ‘drip tip’ or two as many people find messing around with carts to be too much of a hassle over time.

Direct dripping works just fine however.

Also, battery life has to do with ‘vape’ run time.
IE. If you don’t ‘vape’ on the batteries they will probably hold a charge indefinitely.

Hope that helps.

And good luck!!
