Hey all, so I'm on the verge of going back to analogs. I recently gave vaping another shot. At first everything was fine. Started getting achy muscles, switched to a 100vg juice. That seemed to help, but I'm starting to have another issue again where the left side of my face feels full and tingly and looks a little redder than the right side. I think it's my sinuses flaring up real bad, but when I was smoking cigs, it wasn't really an issue aside from some post nasal drip. I really don't want to go back to smoking but I'm not sure what else I can rule out here. I'm only vaping 3-6mg of nic, 100% organic vg from velvet cloud. I'm wondering if maybe there's a thyroid or autoimmune issue that's flaring up from the heat/time of year since I smoked cigs all winter without any real issues. Any one have any advice? Went to the doc last year for the same issues, was referred to a neurologist who thought maybe it was a pinched nerve, did some PT but never really got anything totally resolved. That wouldn't explain the intense facial flushing either. Any help or experience?

I am *NOT* a doctor, but have you tried vaping unflavored? You *might* have an allergy to the flavorings. However, I would recommend you chat with your doc and tell him/her that you're vaping and describe the symptoms. If you have a B&M nearby, pay them a visit and get a small bottle of unflavored in the nic/VG ratios you want. Then THOROUGHLY clean your tanks/driptips, etc. Put in or build a fresh coil. If you don't think you can clean the tank sufficiently, get another one, if you can swing it.

Again, I'd recommend talking with your doc and letting him/her know what has changed since last year, since this seems to be recurring (this time of year?)

Good luck :)

When you quit loading your system with toxins, it doesn't waste time and starts relf-repair to whatever extent possible. With all sorts of odd side effects.

It's vare rare - but not unheard of : Allergic/hypersensitive reaction to PG , to VG , to some of the components in the flavours. Will need some trial-and-error to find that out. Or a visit to a specialist.
A viable alternative is vaping with PEG400 ( aka Macrogol ). As it's only one side of your face it could also be sinusitis or a bad tooth ( doesnt always have to hurt )...
Mind you, I'm not a physician, so standrd precaution applies : if symptoms persist, see a doc :)

What atomizer are you using? You may be allergic to the filling material, as not all are filled with organic cotton, some use man made stuff that can tear you up if you don't tolerate it well. I would suggest that the VG isn't it, it's about as hypo-allergenic as water. As the above poster mentioned, it could be the flavors as well. Then again, it may be something with the heat and physics of vaping that is doing it, at which point I would think smoking would do so as well, but you said it's not, so yeah... I would also say talk to a doc, but you did, so maybe the atty bit? Wish we could be more help...

I've got some unflavored VG coming in the mail tomorrow so I'll definitely be giving that a whirl. Could be sinusitis for sure too. Seems to be worse in my cheeks and right up around my eye. Maybe a cavity. Whatever it is it seems to be aggravated/triggered by vaping. I notice it almost immediately.

Using an Atlantis 2 with organic cotton fill. It does feel like it could be an infection of some sort. Maybe quitting smoking has unleashed my immune system on other things.

DO NOT TAKE ME ADVICE! I dont like Dr.s or hospitals, I did get all types of weird reactions after quitting analogs and going to vaping though. I troubleshot my vape and now am a perfect human with no ailments. First the cheapo chinese vanilla juice got me, then the cheapo wicks, then the driptip then the pg and now I am perfect! I can do 400 pushups in two seconds, bench press 500 pounds all while vaping VG at 70w. Go see your doc but some troubleshooting on yourself just might fix everything.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend doing some extensive tests with your doctor (s). Sure, it MIGHT be vaping that is causing some of your symptoms, but it's really not that likely. If you think it might be vaping, or your doctor does, why not switch to a different NRT? Swedish snus, patch, gum, they all give you nicotine. Wishing you the best of luck bud.

vaping is like driving; there's many ways to do it.
the good thing is you have a choice; I mean lots of choices;
the hard part is finding the right ............ drive;
gee I guess you need a car matchmaker!

but stopping smoking has it's own effects, / list of symptoms.

And if you have other issues like allergies, maybe it's a good idea to just keep some cigalikes around as an option.

All the symptoms you are going thru are the same for people that quit cold turkey or use gums or meds. Your body is going thru withdrawls , nicotine being just one of them.

Your body is healing and ridding itself of all the stuff that was in your lungs which are now being expelled. You may feel sick, like you have a flu, cough, cold etc.

First thing that happens when you quit is the lining of your lungs and I think even your esophagus start to regrow little hair like cells that normally keep your airways clear. When you smoke it actually burns off. Almost immediately they start to grow back. You may have a sore throat, cough up phlegm, etc. Thats all the stuff that was where it was not supposed to in your lungs. Some effects last a long time.

You might feel feverish, again withdraws to all the others of 1000's of ingredients you are now not putting inside your body.

The Tingling in your body is your vascular system either going back to normal or because you are getting too much nic.

Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, it tightens up the capillaries and arteries and veins. So if you are getting less nicotine maybe parts are getting less tight or vise versa if you are taking in too much nicotine. Its quite normal , because E-cigs dont have a definite start and end, you might be getting too much nic.

There was a whole section on the forum that listed the common symptoms of quitting. From feeling anxiety, depression, crankiness and all the flu-like symptoms.

I had a buddy that would quit every couple years and go back because he felt sicker than when he was smoking. That was his excuse: "If im going to feel like **** and like Im coughing out a lung, then Im going to at least enjoy myself" and go back.

Make sure you talk to your Drs, because some of the symptoms might feel like many serious conditions. ANy BIG change in your body for good or bad can and will affect you seriously.

Maybe someone will know where all the symptoms for when you quit went to.

Here is a link regarding the Cilia How Does Smoking Affect the Cilia? (with pictures)

I copied and pasted this part:

" Remarkably though, stopping smoking can undo the damage to cilia rather quickly. In fact, they begin to repair themselves and regenerate in number within only three days after quitting. It should be noted that coughing is a common side effect to this process and may last from a few days to several weeks. This is because the restored cilia are working overtime to remove impurities and mucous from the lungs. If cough persists for more than eight weeks, however, a medical professional should be consulted."

Try Google-ing this sentence, its sad, funny and enlightening.
"why do smoker swear they are dying when they quit"

Oh no ! Sorry to read of your complications. But smoking analog's is not the solution. Just have to do your best, to find what work's for you.

Are you on any medications ? Thyroid ? Diabetes ? Some meds are known to flare up symptoms during summer months, due to sun sensitivity. I am on both, and notice during summer months, I can't be out in direct sunlight to long, which can cause a flare up, such as rash, itchiness, etc....

I've had sinus issues for years, due to cigarette smoke, since I began to vape, no longer an issue, I no longer have to nasal rinse.

Your body may also be reacting to cigarette withdrawal. First week I vaped, my upper lip developed a large open sore, bled alot, this never happened in my whole life. Approx 1.5 weeks later, sore was gone, never returned.

Visit a physician, get a full blood work up, rule out anything medical. Just do your best not to smoke cig's. Wishing you well.
