I've been vaping for a short time compared to others. 11 days since my last analog. I was smoking a pack a day for about 10 years. I wasn't sure how I'd feel once I got my kit set up, but it gave me the nic I needed and the feel of smoking. I haven't really felt tempted for a cig at all. My sense of smell is better, I feel like my breathing is clearer and I don't smell like an ashtray anymore. It's great!! Welcome and good luck!!
I agree - although for three days now I am smoking no more than 5 analogs, I am getting used to vaping more and more... just trying to break the smoking rituals of the morning and evening and I know I'm getting there. I have noticed in such a short time how much better my breathing is and not keeping me up at night. Keep at it yourself and thanks for the good words

My boyfriend and I were pack a day (sometimes more) smokers and we literally went from smoking to vaping in one weekend. The first three days might be a little rough as there are other chemicals in cigarettes that you're addicted to aside from the nicotine but once you make it past that and have a setup you like you'll do just fine. We started with a Kangertech EVOD 2 starter kit but found we really enjoy the variable voltage style. We're now using the Aspire 1300mAh batteries (probably bought those a month into our adventure after trying the Aspire Vision Spinner which was also VV) paired with a Nautilus Mini tank.
As for juices, he still goes for Tobacco flavours sometimes, but usually ones that have a bit of a twist to them instead of trying to recreate the exact flavour of the cigarettes we used to smoke. And I gravitate towards fruity and dessert flavours most of the time.
We found juices that were higher in PG were helpful when first quitting as they 'felt' kind of like a cigarette, but now we usually go for 50/50 blends or higher VG for a nice smooth experience (and big clouds!).

Welcome to the forum! Hope that we're of some help in your new adventure!
thank you! - yes every word of encouragement helps from someone who has been there

I am on day #4 and have smoked no more than 5 analogs per day starting 07.07.15 - a couple in the morning, one at lunch and a couple in the evening - that is it, and of course vaping in between. Cigs are starting to stink, I am happy to say... Been smoking since 1983... yes, 32 years of chronic smoking ... I am almost there. Breathing better in such a short period of time is a great and amazing thing. Any words of support or anyone who is going thru what I am doing, let's talk...

I'll tell you what I did. Smoking about a pack a day for 20 years. Tried to quit multiple times, gum, Chantix, the other older pill, patches, cold turkey. I always went back. I discovered ecigs, like Blu, a few years ago, but hated them. Discovering PV's, liked them a little more, but didn't want to stop smoking. I went to a vape shop, tried a few mods, and bought one I really liked. THEN, I got e-juice that I wanted and tasted awesome. When you find those few you REALLY like, a cigarette does not compare. I ran out of smokes one day, and made excuses why not to go get some. Yes temptation still hits. When it does, I vape. I think I'm doing really well, and have dialed my mg usage back from 24 to 16mg, and it's fine.

Let your self run out of smokes after you find those few flavors you absolutely love. If you decide to try and have a smoke a few days later, you'll realize you don't want/need it. I did.
Looking back at a some of the replies I have had for a few days, I wanted to ask how you are doing...? looks like you are 8 days + since quitting which is great! I am on 4 days and smoking only 5 cigs per day with vaping in between.. cigs are tasting worse and worse and can't get past more than a 1/4 cig now without putting it out. Just dealing with the mental/physical changes thru this and doing ok... any thoughts..?

I'm in my 4th month and on June 30th which was a stressful day for me, I bought a pack of cigarettes. I have been smoking one here and there but I don't have the feeling or sense that I will buy anymore cigarettes. I like vaping far more. Smoking is like an old comfortable habit but it's one I don't need anymore. So why don't I throw away the rest of the pack? I don't know. I guess because I spent money on it and I know I'll partly enjoy smoking them as time goes on. It isn't a race and I don't have to be perfect. And I very much doubt I'll buy another pack. I think the cigarettes have lost their hold on me. Good luck in your vaping journey!

Oh, and I also smoked a few per day for a week, my first week of vaping. After that I had one or part of one just every now and then but for the most part I was smoke free for 3 months until I bought that pack of cigarettes.

My biggest advice is just to find flavors you really enjoy. I've noticed that when I get stuck with a nasty flavor I'd rather go search around for some cigarettes I forgot about someone around the house.
Also, get a good device, it really makes a difference in the vapor itself and the flavor you get out of it. I started on an ego-style CE4 (the cheapest thing you can get basically) and it was good until my "real" one came. I got an EgoOne by Joyetech. I love it, it's compact enough to take around anywhere without hassle. After that I got the Innokin MVP 3.0 Pro. It's AWESOME. But a little more... bulky. it's about the height of a pack of 100s cigarettes and the width of a pack of like.. Virginia Slims... like an inch and a half.

I know a lot of people including myself tried to start vaping using cigalikes because they're available everywhere, but I never stuck to it with them.

But for me, still, the flavor thing is the biggest gamechanger for me.

Welcome and good luck on your journey, you can do it!

AHH this exactly! I have packs that I bought on an international trip, and a pack in my car, that I don't touch, but it's like a security blanket. Like if I ever NEED them, they're there. If I do light up, 1/4-1/3 is about as much as I can handle before feeling sick from it and it's... disgusting tasting. lol.

Vwls - Thank you so much for the words of encouragement... I am glad I found this forum as I feel now I have some support and a wealth of knowledge by experience that I can draw from. I pretty much know I have no reason at this time not to quit.. no distractions, no company visiting me anytime soon. Time to focus - thank you
Welcome, and congrats! Just passed my 6 month mark. 36 year, pack + a day Marlboro 100 smoker. I was lucky, after being a professional quitter, and apparently a professional failure. Until....one day, my son got me a Kanger starter kit. That was January 4th...same day I had my last cigarette. I still have juice ADD...lol...but at least I'm not smoking. Stick around here, it's been a huge part of my being able to be an ex-smoker!

I tried to have a cigarette a few days ago, and it shot my blood pressure through the roof, gave me a headache, and just generally tasted like to was smoking burnt paper. It was pretty damned gross, and no one was more surprised than I. I mean, this was my best buddy for years, been with me all around the world. So go ahead, smoke less and less, and vape more. Eventually, the cigarettes wont be the problem; keeping enough ejuice around will be. ;-)

My own experience was that I became aware I had symptoms of peripheral arterial disease, and looked that up online, finding that one of the causes is smoking. We were spending over $500 a month on cigs, and I got motivated big-time. Someone gave us a wretched el-cheapo ecig from a flea market, and I tried it. I found that while I could vape I didn't need to smoke. The substitution was good, but I wanted something better than that crappy thing, and went right after it. Two years later I've not had another cigarette, my health is far better, and I have a nice collection of vaping gear. I rebuild and make my own juice, and I have my health, which you can't put a price on. I hate to think of where I'd be if I'd not quit smoking.
