Any carto that is a 510 threading will work. I would get a 3.0ohm.
Theirs no need to use LRs on a VV. a 3.0ohm carto gives you the widest range of voltages you could use on it.

As far as what tank, that's all a personal preference and how much you want to spend. Their are some nice tanks that are expensive, but theres also some great tanks that are cheap too. The smoktech tanks are cheap and work well.
The chibi tank from parkes vaping are cheap and work great. The j-tank from electronicstix costs alittle more, but works great. Then their are also other tanks that are even more expensive, into the $30-50 range, but personally I would never pay that much for a tank. The j-tank is $20 and the chibi tank is $10, and personally I think they work just as well as most of the really expensive tanks

Rob...thanks for the quick reply. So you are saying that I need a single coil 3 ohm. Are all the carts and tanks standard size so they interchange with one another? I know these questions are all noob like but I just want to get the right stuff for a primo vape and I think a tank set up would be the best route for me as I am vaping about 5ml+ a day.

I would also get Boge 3 ohm - that way you can go all the way from barely warm to hot - and Boge are the most popular cartos on 510-threaded devices. I use juices around 80PG/20VG in them and I avoid all dark, cloudy and opaque juices that drop flavoring sediment in the stuffing because that stuff really degrades a carto fast.

Here's a thread on various carto Tanks. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ssion/228295-cartomizer-tank-master-list.html

Doesn't list the "cheaper" (less costly tanks), but a tanks a tank. Some use rubber grommets as end caps (less costly) and others use delrin, stainless steel, aluminum end caps with orings. Your personal preference. I have an M1A1 from Notcigs and absolutely love it. Has a screw hole so you don't need to pull up/remove the end cap to fill the tank.

Cartos and tanks are not all the same size. Make sure you get the right length carto for your tank. Standard 510 cartos use a shorter tank. The Megas, XL, etc. use a longer tank.

+1 for what mynameisrob says, you don't have to use LR cartos on a VV. Easier to dial in your sweet spot with standard cartos. Should save on your batts also with higher resistance.

I recently purchased A Lavatube and got the 7ml Tubetank with it from Volcano and I love the tank works like a charm and haven't had any problems with it. You can get the chrome version for like $25 or the normal one for $20 I think. I would suggest getting the replacement 3 ohm single coil guts though like someone else mentioned for the VV. The Lavatube will automatically limit the volts going to the atty on low res stuff so if you get the dual coils you can only vape it at approximately 4.1v. Ohh and I love my Lavatube hope you enjoy yours!

I have 2 LT's.. Here's what I'm using on both RIGHT NOW after a lot of experimentation. 1 has a 3.5ml generic Madvapes tank with their (smoktek) 3 ohm DUAL COIL Flanged cart... Using a Banana Creme juice 75/25 20mg DIY juice at 4.8v and works awesome! I did increase the size of the tiny cart hole very slightly and it wicks perfect now. Other one, a smoktek ego MEGA DUAL COIL Clear Cart from Madvapes with the ego-510 adapter... 4.8v High VG Grape DIY (I really like these carts.. I go to them when frustrated with anything else... they hold a ton of juice and just work great.. 1.8 ohm and work very well with my LT as well.. I'll argue this one with anyone that wants to....)

I am very happy with their performance and lack of hassle. Are they perfect? NOPE. Nothing is! ha ha ha

I find that my Tobacco mixes seem to be on my Provari or Box Mods... Just what seemed to work best for me...

Have fun with your new VV. It will be an important step for you in this journey. Just be prepared for little bumps in the road... you'll figure out what to do. Anything batteries/juice/tech is a pain in the ... for someone on some level... Just work through it... We can all critique what is the BEST of everything.. and whatever you're doing is totally wrong.. guess what, NO IT ISN'T. you may be using a juice that is slightly different in viscosity or ratio and whatever we say is non-relevant to your problem.

You're in good company and will learn a lot in here. Just apply the principles and some personal logic and you're in for a great time.

BTW, the ego-T was our most important 3rd step in the journey... If you haven't already made the purchase, seriously consider building a Madvapes VV box mod.. but, don't buy the kit.. look at their site and buy the separate components and sub a HORN button and add a slow or fast changing led, all from their site and tinker... Grab your dremel tool and a soldering iron and 1-2 hours later you'll have an awesome 2 battery VV that'll cost about $25 bucks with 1 set of batteries and be off and running.. just my 2 cents worth... personal arsenal, provari, 2 LT's, 1 5V box mod, 2 5V VV box mods, 2 gold rushes, ego's using carts (no more T Tanks, tired of the leaking), and happy as hell. More to come.... :) Now, order 2 sets of batteries no matter what you buy.. you'll be glad you did... else be watching instead of playing... 3 sets is better.. one battery will crap out and ........

Main thing, have fun and don't be blocked by the ego or envy factors.. Let it be fun and enjoy the journey and don't look back. Look forward...... Each step is important. Seeking better is OK. Get a Smoktek DC cart for you Ego and you may find you keep those ego batteries in play for a while as well! They do slip in a shirt pocket nicely as well... for those stealth vape moments in the elevator.... ha ha ha

regards and keep us posted!
